  1. It was a racing incident. The referee excluded Joe as the primary cause of the stoppage, which in my view was the correct decision. Let's move on.
  2. His fan interaction is in a league of it's own. An absolute legend at Kent, one of the few riders in British speedway that genuinely puts bums on seats. Periodically people suggest that the NL should be for young riders only. For example I have seen suggestions that NL reserves should be under 25 - that would have ruled Danny out from ever getting started in the sport.
  3. If the PL tried that I reckon that plenty of riders with a preference for CL would be consulting lawyers. As those contracts look extremely difficult to justify in law then the likely outcome would be that overnight the PL would have:- No Assets
  4. How does Nathan Stoneman get a 4.92 GSA?
  5. In much the same way as Newcastle used a facility for Lewis Rose in May last year after the rider retired.
  6. The rules are clear. You can't have a facility for a rider who has not yet ridden. However you can have a special dispensation (as was the case in the examples of Newcastle and Nick Morris quoted above). But the circumstances that apply in those two cases do not apply here and can be easily and clearly distinguished. When signed the rider was fit and available to ride. In this instance Palovaara was not available to ride in Saturday's fixture at the time of signing
  7. There appears to be a big drop this year. Matches with crowds over 4000: 1 in 2019 (last week at Malilla) [2018 up to 22 July: 8] Matches with under 1600 spectators: 9 in 2019 (inc one at Avesta under 800) [2018 up to 22 July: none]
  8. Year after year the World Cup produced some of the best racing and some of speedway's most dramatic moments. Sure it wasn't perfect, but the quest to 'improve' it has left us with a half hearted pile of rubbish.
  9. Some interesting comparisons to be found here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/gallery/2015/feb/17/football-ticket-prices-old-ticket-stubs
  10. Pretty sure Casper Henriksson is son of Anders Henriksson (and grandson of Terje) The 85cc version of this championship was recently won by a youngster with an even more impressive pedigree: Bastian Pedersen His father is Ronnie and uncle our dear friend multi world champion Nicki
  11. Just to hold my hands up and apologise. That quote describes the Leicester v Berwick match, not the Berwick v Leicester match. Oops
  12. Only one bonafide pass in the meeting - Nicholls on NBJ in ht 13.
  13. On the California items: 18/4 Best Pairs S Star describes Goldfinch and Mitchell as the winners without any explanation as to how the tie was broken. I have a filled in programme which shows the two pairs level with no sign of a run-off or any other hint as to how the winner was decided. 27/6 Cal v Ebne I don't believe this match took place. It appears in the Calif fixture list but the two SAL matches took place later in the season. The weather on 27 June was warm and dry in the Southern half of England (dust was reported at a meeting at Brafield on the same day). None of the four California historians seem to have a copy of the programme which makes me suspect the fixture was pulled. But this is just supposition.
  14. No it is still the practice. I recently went to a Danish League 2 match where the meeting was abandonned after 11 heats. All four teams had an additional 14 race points for the 9 unraced heats.
  15. re California supporters trophy S Star shows Goody on 13 and Sharp on 11 implying ht 19 result is wrongly recorded on Sp Researcher. nb Scores for Sweetman, Dolling and Guttridge also disagree between the two sources
  16. Hmm! http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/9481/glasgow-pl-20th-august-2011
  17. I wouldn't get too excited https://dt-speedway.dmusport.dk/ranglister?classID=782&divisionID=14 Jacob Bukhave 7.58 Tobias Thomsen 5.83 Nick Agertoft 4.80
  18. The official result of ht 8 was a 5-2! How do I know? Because I have the refs certified copy. Presumably it was corrected AFTER the meeting.
  19. Clement Freud (I saw him at more than one track outside his constituency).
  20. I concur with the analysis above on the three California related queries. As a matter of interest what do you record for the 1 July cup meeting between California and Rye House?
  21. Another excellent night's racing with some stand out entertainment from Danny Verge and Robert Ledwith in particular. Scores were VERY tight for the first 12 heats. The meeting could have been run quicker, we missed last 3 heats of the junior match. Lack of a tactical substitute in heat 14 still puzzles me.
  22. But it does make it more attractive for me, as it would be easy to combine with the World Under 21 at Belle Vue on Friday night.
  23. I was there - see if you can spot me in the crowd! Three tac subs and a tactical joker ride used!
