Pretty sure Casper Henriksson is son of Anders Henriksson (and grandson of Terje) The 85cc version of this championship was recently won by a youngster with an even more impressive pedigree: Bastian Pedersen His father is Ronnie and uncle our dear friend multi world champion Nicki -

Just to hold my hands up and apologise. That quote describes the Leicester v Berwick match, not the Berwick v Leicester match. Oops -

Only one bonafide pass in the meeting - Nicholls on NBJ in ht 13. -
On the California items: 18/4 Best Pairs S Star describes Goldfinch and Mitchell as the winners without any explanation as to how the tie was broken. I have a filled in programme which shows the two pairs level with no sign of a run-off or any other hint as to how the winner was decided. 27/6 Cal v Ebne I don't believe this match took place. It appears in the Calif fixture list but the two SAL matches took place later in the season. The weather on 27 June was warm and dry in the Southern half of England (dust was reported at a meeting at Brafield on the same day). None of the four California historians seem to have a copy of the programme which makes me suspect the fixture was pulled. But this is just supposition.

No it is still the practice. I recently went to a Danish League 2 match where the meeting was abandonned after 11 heats. All four teams had an additional 14 race points for the 9 unraced heats.

re California supporters trophy S Star shows Goody on 13 and Sharp on 11 implying ht 19 result is wrongly recorded on Sp Researcher. nb Scores for Sweetman, Dolling and Guttridge also disagree between the two sources

The official result of ht 8 was a 5-2! How do I know? Because I have the refs certified copy. Presumably it was corrected AFTER the meeting.

Clement Freud (I saw him at more than one track outside his constituency).

I concur with the analysis above on the three California related queries. As a matter of interest what do you record for the 1 July cup meeting between California and Rye House?

Another excellent night's racing with some stand out entertainment from Danny Verge and Robert Ledwith in particular. Scores were VERY tight for the first 12 heats. The meeting could have been run quicker, we missed last 3 heats of the junior match. Lack of a tactical substitute in heat 14 still puzzles me.

But it does make it more attractive for me, as it would be easy to combine with the World Under 21 at Belle Vue on Friday night.

I thought there was contact as Shanes went under Kennedy. However Kennedy was rebounding off the fence which he had clipped coming out of bend 4. And that in my view makes him the one who was less in command of his riding line and I therefore conclude the decision was correct. In fact all round I think Chris Durno had a pretty good night ( how many people spotted the lack of gloves?) -

I can picture the scene: Knock, knock [Door opens] Caller: Good afternoon, I'm calling on behalf of your local Labour party Resident: And what's your party's policy on Brexit, the single most important issue in politics today? Caller: [silence, face turns red with embarrassment] -

This is nonsense on stilts. The UK Government and ONLY the UK govt determines immigration policy (outwith the EU) - and there is no reason whatsoever to think the current restrictive policy with regard to speedway riders will be relaxed regardless of whether or not we do finally manage to leave the EU. Only a General Election resulting in the election of a more pro- immigration party will do that and I can't see that happening.
