  1. It was good, but... Not even the best race I've seen..... on the Island ....this month ( ht 7 the previous Thursday, a virtual three way tie that finished with Connor Coles splitting Wirtzfeld and Morley on the line)
  2. 3. Yes - and I seem to recall he as already ridden in the European Championship as an ACU nominee. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Speedway_European_Championship_qualification
  4. Good result for Jason Edwards too. https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/837016/puchar-europy-juniorow-pewna-wygrana-madsa-hansena-awans-mateusza-cierniaka
  5. He impressed at Eastbourne on Saturday. When all around was chaos he kept his head down and got on with the job, tigering away for paid six.
  6. I'm sure that nonetheless Barry will give you a warm welcome
  7. Try using the GDP deflator - it gives a more appropriate result where labour and land are the principle costs rather than materials.
  8. At the time of his appointment Lakeside were still running, so the SCB didn't think there would be a problem with his impartiality then, so why would there be now?
  9. Surely that rule only applies during racing. Otherwise how would they get onto the centre green in the first place? Airlifted by helicopter?
  10. I was watching the boxing last night so I've only just caught up with it. Answer :- lots. Definitely an all- time classic.
  11. I was standing next to the 20 or so Glasgow fans that were present when the primary incident happened. They were pretty unanimous about who was at fault, and were scathing about Cook(Craig) Yes there were some other people whose who acted inappropriately (Newman when excluded for MBA's fall, the announcer for ramping up the atmosphere, Vissing's petulant tape antics, and one or two Eastbourne track staff who appeared to be more interested in joining in the fight than stopping it). BUT It was Craig Cook who did practice starts while the parade was still underway (with small children on the track) and it was Craig Cook who rode at and then assaulted a track staff member (who was very clearly displaying a red flag). [ And for the record: number of times Ed Kennett fell off last night- zero.]
  12. 2016 10+ kroner to the pound 28 Danes in EL/PL 2019 8+ kroner to pound 16 Danes in PL/CL (and that includes riders like Hans Andersen and Ostergaard nearing the end of their careers and Agertoft/Tobias Thomsen. But notably none of the rising stars like Jakobsen (Freddie), Jeppesen, Sorensen, Birkemose or various Hansen's) I wouldn't bank on Scandis filling up the vacant spaces.
  13. The ones I spoke to did; a very good evening. I've never seen Barry B so animated! Excellent atmosphere, a few decent races.
  14. Which begs the question: are these team changes being made for Sheffield's benefit or Leicester's?
  15. It was a racing incident. The referee excluded Joe as the primary cause of the stoppage, which in my view was the correct decision. Let's move on.
  16. His fan interaction is in a league of it's own. An absolute legend at Kent, one of the few riders in British speedway that genuinely puts bums on seats. Periodically people suggest that the NL should be for young riders only. For example I have seen suggestions that NL reserves should be under 25 - that would have ruled Danny out from ever getting started in the sport.
  17. Just caught up with the meeting (I was at Kent last night), a few random observations. All in all a great meeting after a slow start. Charles Wright a well deserved and entertaining winner, kept his focus after that controversial exclusion. Danny Ayres, a legend at Kent and Mildenhall, comes to play with the big boys - and gives it his all. Fantastic entertainer as ever. Wright spent his first four seasons at Buxton - how they are missed Somerset's team building looks even more questionable now. Not a Woffy fan, but I am warming to him. I thought his on air coaching of Danny Ayres showed that he has more to offer speedway than his riding abilities.
  18. If the PL tried that I reckon that plenty of riders with a preference for CL would be consulting lawyers. As those contracts look extremely difficult to justify in law then the likely outcome would be that overnight the PL would have:- No Assets
  19. How does Nathan Stoneman get a 4.92 GSA?
  20. In much the same way as Newcastle used a facility for Lewis Rose in May last year after the rider retired.
  21. The rules are clear. You can't have a facility for a rider who has not yet ridden. However you can have a special dispensation (as was the case in the examples of Newcastle and Nick Morris quoted above). But the circumstances that apply in those two cases do not apply here and can be easily and clearly distinguished. When signed the rider was fit and available to ride. In this instance Palovaara was not available to ride in Saturday's fixture at the time of signing
  22. There appears to be a big drop this year. Matches with crowds over 4000: 1 in 2019 (last week at Malilla) [2018 up to 22 July: 8] Matches with under 1600 spectators: 9 in 2019 (inc one at Avesta under 800) [2018 up to 22 July: none]
