  1. I doubt there is any difference between chosing first or second leg at home in terms of the chances of winning. Last season there were 38 two legged ties in the cup, shield and play-offs across all divisions. First leg home team won 20 of the 38. What might be at issue is attendances. I suspect (but I am sure there are promoters who would know better) that experience shows that all other things being equal, having the second leg offers a better chance of a big crowd.
  2. Funny - I stood on the first bend and would describe the crowd as energetically and enthusiastically loud. (as they were ag Poole in the latter part of the first leg clash.)
  3. Although Emil has only ridden 9 matches in 7 years (four of them this year).
  4. My my, Peterborough must have been so wound up by the end of the season that I'm surprised they didn't finish with a 75-15 win
  5. My guess is that with so many other things to sort out nothing will change for a year or two. The Govt. wants to move to a points based system - it seems inevitable that speedway riders will get fewer points than say curry chefs. In the event of a 'no deal' brexit the riders most at risk of losing out are journeymen Danes. I suspect those Aussies with patriality will be ok.
  6. Are you sure you are not thinking of Rene rather than Leon?
  7. Damn right. The attendance was pitiful (hardly surprising with rescheduling, rain and TV), but it felt like a packed stadium for the final three heats. Brilliant atmosphere.
  8. The other interesting feature of the Swedish div One is that each team has a 250cc rider who rides four races against the other 250cc riders. ( The German Team cup - effectively their second division also do this.) [Both countries use a four team tournament format] Last year Philip Hellstrom-Bangs was the top 250cc rider winning all 30 races in div One; this year he is second in div One 500cc averages to Joel Kling. The majority of the riders are under 21, but in Tony Gudbrand and Benny Johansson they have their versions of Jon Armstrong and Tony Atkin.
  9. The damaged section has been repaired nut now most of the panels on bend one have deflated!
  10. Brassarna (Nassjo), Ornarna (Mariestad) plus 5 reserve teams.
  11. The Swedish third tier is mainly reserve teams of senior clubs. The Danish set up is similar. I saw a Danish lge 2 match at Fjelsted this season, estimated crowd: 29.
  12. ## Bo made his league debut for Racers at home to Birmingham. Fell off on first bend of first ride. End if Racers career. [## from memory I am away from home right now]
  13. Number 6 is optional and has no programmed rides. But if ever there was a meeting where it was worth naming a no 6 surely this is it
  14. 150 was an estimate for the previous meeting. (I can't speak to its accuracy but it sounds plausible to me.) The farewell meeting was probably in the region of 1000 (a very rough estimate on my part)
  15. That tends to be the worst of both worlds (see Coventry at Leicester last year for example). Too far for more than a handful of Reading fans to travel, but not attractive to Swindon fans as the team is badged as Reading.
  16. Keep an eye out on Ebay. Second hand ones come up from time to time. ( for example there was recently an Halifax Dukes board on there). The Barber's will probably sell you a blank one if you ask them.
  17. Well at least refurbishment of the back straight bogs is underway https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/sep/14/gold-toilet-reportedly-stolen-blenheim-palace-cattelan
  18. In general cubs/colts teams have virtually zero travelling support. From my frequent attendance at various NL tracks I would certainly place Kent as providing the largest (and friendliest) visiting contingent of away fans.
  19. There is nothing on the stock car schedule for 28 Sept, and this date still in the Potters fixture list as a reserved date. Could this be a date for a speedway farewell?
  20. I think they were same format, and first co petition would have been completed but I haven't got that detail in my notes
  21. Sheffield .. Wednesday v Newcastle Would have been a more confusing title for the thread
