2020 FIM Long Track
arnieg replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
50, a mere spring chicken. Bernd Diener is 60 and he should have been in this year's series, and did ride in the Challenge missing qualification for next year's series by a single place. Edit: and with Hummel and Pijper finishing in the series top 7 Diener should be in the GP next year -
Next Tuesday is off, but the October fixtures might go ahead. How does this compare with amateur football? Is that continuing with crowds?

Simples He won the qualifyer (Golden Helmet http://www.speedwayw.pl/kaski/zk_2019.htm ) -
Plymouth's communications have been superb throughout the last month. The fact that in the middle of covid (with so many extra things to do) they were able to respond to complaints about lighting and respond by making improvements before the next meeting is quite a contrast with some clubs who can't even fix a PA system after three years of fans moaning.

I thought it had already been staged and won by Tero Aarnio?

Made his Swedish debut for Njudungarna circa 1965 and was still riding for Vetlanda in 1997. A mere 33 years riding for the same team.

Isn't it going to be the final meeting of the season in the international calendar making post match quarantine somewhat redundant.
-
And then onto Leicester?

My spirits soared to see a fixture list that is actually... a list of fixtures, rather than a list of postponements.

Ipswich, 26 September and yes. However if you go to Ippo website the latest news is from 31 July!

A good question. I would assume by top GSAs. However most riders have two, PL and CL. There are 17 Brits (inc Schlein) named in PL teams, including Ellis who might be riding in Poland (if fit). Of these Kemp, Ashley Morris and Rowe might lose out to the top riders named only in the CL namely Ritchie Worrall, Kennett and Auty. In practice I suspect that one or two of these may simply decline the opportunity to race. I do hope that plans are underway for a British under 21 & 19 champs as well.

Swedish Elitserien 2020
arnieg replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Interesting that despite the dilution in quality there are still only six Swedes in the top 20 of the averages. (Freddie L and Peter Ljung not amongst them for different reasons). -
Time to send a GB/England touring team abroad?

Wasn't there a suggestion they would have to ride home matches in Poland? -

A fact. Daugavpils were denied promotion for this reason. Of course rules can always be changed if there is sufficient will to do so. -
An odd statement given that only one rider has finished in the top ten EVERY year for the last eight years: Matej Zagar.
-
Zagar is clearly in the world's top ten at present (look at Ekstraliga averages) so clearly deserves to be in GP. What is bizarre is that he has qualified before turning a wheel in this year's GP.
-
I think if either finish outside they are likely to get a wild card pick. But it means Pi. Pawlicki, Drabik or Smektala are unlikely to get a shot no matter they perform for the rest of the season.
-
If Milik beats Zagar it's a 4 man run off. And KK could come last!
-
If Fricke doesn't qualify tonight he looks to be well behind Jack Holder and Doyle for next year's series wildcard nominations
