  1. I'm guessing at inclusion of 125cc/250cc heats (like the Northern Junior League) Might need to switch to 4TT format (like German Team Cup and Sweden Lge 1 who both include 250cc heats)
  2. Not entirely. The follow up question is why has he chosen Denmark (probably no more than 8 fixtures) over the UK? (I suspect Poland, Denmark and Sweden all being in Schengen unlike the UK might be a factor)
  3. Rider replacement. They also use riders who are referred to as 'guests' but they are really riders doubling up.
  4. In covid world we can never be certain. What if it is announced that the season is starting, and there is then a further problem with covid and crowd restrictions are reintroduced? It happened to professional football and it happened to the British Final at Ipswich.
  5. You don't get a reduction for not riding in the UK. You get one for not riding at all. However if the average is more than 3 years old you can apply to have it re-assessed.
  6. What exactly is the point of publishing a fixture list starting 1 May when we already know (as a result of subsequent govt. statements) that an early May start is highly unlikely?
  7. In the last scheme to encourage young riders (Fast Track Elite Draft) one of the participants was a 35 year old in his 20th season of racing.
  8. It's been tried before, but the fans complained (2006 Steve Boxall and 2014 Lewis Blackbird)
  9. And Tom Brennan's average was achieved at reserve before a major fracture ended his 2019 season earlyl
  10. Are there any plans to change the conversion factor? If it stays at 1.6 then Josh Auty will be the most sought after rider in British speedway
  11. What extraordinary ignorance. What a crassly stupid post. The Government is full of laissez-faire libertarians, and the last thing they would want is a populace reliant on the state.
  12. Was it not over zoom/Microsoft teams? I imagine the constitution's specific requirements mean that an AGM has to be face to face, and they can't change that requirement without a 'face to face' EGM or AGM. So not mysterious, just a matter of fact.
  13. Presumably Hurry will resign from the ACU track racing committee?
  14. I think it has already been decommissioned and Spring rugby internationals are planned to take place. (Alternative arrangements for a Nightingale's having been made)
  15. Newcastle thread seems to imply Connor Mountain is coming back to fill the Perks sized hole in the Lions team. If Bridger is also signing that suggests that one of the heat leaders (most likely Morris) may be pulling out.
  16. Except it does happen in football. Tranmere Rovers, and I think Colchester Utd, among othets have often played on Fridays because of issues with police and medical cover meaning they give way to more senior neighbours.
  17. 6.59 average for Berwick in 2017, divided by 1.6 to convert to PL, less a discount for three years inactivity. [Crump starts on his 2008 average less 24% (probably 8% per annum - max 3 years)]
  18. Indeed British speedway behaved in much the same way in the 70s/80s and look what's happened now - as you say karma.
  19. Looking at the results here http://www.speedway.org/history/96.htm#1996 It looks as though the 5 vacant positions went to the next 5 in the Scandinavian Final (Ronnie Pedersen, Klingberg, Holta, Ylinen and Laukannen) with Riss and Furlanetto who just missed out on qualification to the Continental Final (which was raced on the same day as the Inter-Contnental) replacing Laukannen and Lemon in the final line up. Of the riders who got a second chance only Riss got through to the next round.
  20. Over Christmas there was a reference in Speedway Star (Peter Oakes: winners & losers) to the recommendations of the 'way forward' group (Louis, Lemon, Dickson etc) for the future of British speedway being rejected by the BSPL. Does anyone know what those recommendations were? And what was the argument for throwing them out?
  21. Well unless the league structure changes our local track for Premier League speedway will be the ever so handy Peterborough! Guess our paths will mainly cross at Kent and Eastbourne
  22. Tilehurst, 3 July 1962 - six years before speedway came to Reading
  23. I very much doubt you would get very far with that. Most of the case law involves poaching of employees (so not relevant) and a key phrase in all the analysis is 'without good reason'. I think the BSPL could argue that "to avoid the total bankruptcy of the sport" was a good reason.
  24. The whole point of running a company is that directors are NOT personally liable. Besides contracts are with individual clubs not the BSPL.
