Which paper was that Jimi? Assume you live in the Perth area, so would guess it is the Community Newspaper

Hi Silver Cheetah, where did you sit last year? And was it on the lower or upper tier?

Fox Sports to Televise Final GP on Sunday
Timbo replied to Timbo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was on Yahoo groups from Ross Garrigan and Jan Grainger -
G'day Ozyace, I saw in the West Australian on Wednesday that the new circuit is hoped to be around 390 metres (the same as Bibra Lake). It mentioned that the new track would be in the northern suburbs but not an exact location. Is it still in the planning stage or has the deal been done

Thanks for that Peter. I hope something comes out of this proposal. Do you know what sort of place Aarhus is? Population, entertainment etc. I'm hoping that if Jason Crump wins the SGP this year that Australia may get another crack at hosting a round , especially with the reduced number of riders to transport over here.

Further to the aforementioned info. From the online newspaper Århus Stiftstidende (21/9/04). Maybe one of our Danish forum members could do a summary for us.

On Yahoo groups someone has stated that Aarhus Football Stadium has applied to host a GP round in 2005. Stadium capacity 21,000 all seater. See http://www.stadiumguide.com/aarhusstadion.htm http://www.agf.co.dk/Docs/stadion/

Apparently there was a meeting at Canning Vale on Monday night regarding the new promotion of a bike friendly speedway track. Is there any further news on the progress of this venture? "Ozyace" maybe knows.
-
Thanks Ozyace. Yes that is good news for us northern suburbs types! Is that the place on Ocean Reef Road at the north end of Wangara? Or is it near Barbagallo Raceway (BTW my son and I are going to see the V8 supercars on Friday and Saturday-should be good fun). It is sad when a speedway venue closes down and especially one as good as Bibra Lake was. If you have a look at Speedway Plus there are loads of former sites of speedway stadiums in the UK Re the Fox Sports, my in-laws have Fox so I get them to tape it for me. I actually watched it this morning before coming to work (a good start to the day). The Prague GP was not a bad meeting and controversy thrown in for good measure - don't know how NP didn't get excluded when he squeezed out Greg Hancock on the back straight Wroclaw sounds like it was an excellent meet as well, so look forward to seeing that one too.
-
Is there is anyone out there who can let us know if there are any prospects for a new track site which may come out of the meeting (to be held tonight I think). Much obliged

Thanks for that Tomaz

It's getting hard to find any photos of the GPs these days. The old SGP site use to have some photos a few days after the events, but the new Speedway World site only has archival photos. Does anyone know where GP photos can be viewed on the web? There are a few on a Polish site Photopress by Jerzy Ruzko (sp) but I don't know any others. Also just remembered the Swedish "No Fear" site has a few as well

Even Aunty (ABC Radio) got in on the act , with Nathan O'Brien being interviewed by Liam Bartlett on his morning talkback show on the Tuesday after the Aust Sidecar Championships. Liam and another guy on the programme were also reminiscing about the good old days at Claremont Showgrounds when Chum Taylor and the like were roaring around Fowlhouse Corner.

Yes it was a 1969 film. It was shot on 35mm in six weeks in the streets of East London with a cast of non-actors drawn entirely from the neighbourhood and a script based on recent events. DVD/Video is available from Bronco Bullfrog also you can view a trailer of the film.

For everyone's information tickets are now available for the Prague GP on the internet (in English ). http://www.ticketstream.cz/pls/czech/dls.d...CKET&language=1

Just a quick one for anyone who has been to the Norwegian GP in previous years. Is the Friday afternoon practice session open to the public? Also any experiences about recommended (or not recommended) seating positions in the stadium would be welcomed

Thanks to Sir Matty, Raquelle and Tom Haines for your comments Do you any of you have approximate costs for a GP trip with Travel Plus?
-
Thanks for that info Sir Matty, do you have contact details for Travel Plus and do they have a website by any chance? Which tours did you go on with them?
-
I'm thinking about going to Hamar for the final GP this year. Page and Moy are doing a tour I think and Your Sporting Challenge too. Has anyone been on an organized tour with them or anyone else (Travelplus?), and if so what were they like? Thanks in anticipation
-
Yep, I made it to Bibra Lake for the meeting - good stuff too! They've certainly made quite a few improvements to the stadium over the last year or so. There are even some VIP Grandstand seats available now and additional grandstand seats on the back straight. I thought that Kris Keast made a good fist of things and of course the top three were all expected to do well. The sidecars were excellent value as usual - felt sorry for poor Vince Gianoncelli breaking the tapes, as before that he had looked really good. The O'Briens were a class act again. Events to come in summer of 2004 January 24 State Sidecar Championship & International Solo Challenge (Ron Johnson Memorial) February 28 Australian Sidecar Championship (Elimination night) February 29 Australian Sidecar Championship (Final night)

Thanks for that Stats . I know Dave Cheshire is getting on in years now (not too slow, however!) but how old are the rest of the riders - any idea

Does anyone have information on the possible rider line up for the WA State Title at Bibra Lake on Saturday December 6th Main events start at 6.15 pm

Woffinden finished second ahead of defending titleholder Daniel Harding. The following day the State Pairs title was contested and it ended in a three-way tie. King beat Daniel Winchester and Tom Bryant to claim the title. King had scored 23 points in the heats with his partner Barry Rose adding another 3. Looks like Mr Crump won't be there. He said he won't be riding in Oz this summer or in the Swedish League next season. See story http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sport/st...tory=71137.html
