  1. The Ljubljana club posted an update on Facebook on Friday saying that Jan Pintar was breathing on his own again after being taken off of the ventillator. He was also being brought out of the induced coma that he had been put into. The full extent of his injuries still weren't known at that time. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1875153889196063&id=323342524377215 The news about the other rider is more complete. Patrik Buri posted that he had broken both his ankles and his left hand. He had some issues with his insurance company so couldn't get the full treatment needed in Austria but is now back home and being treated there. http://www.speedwaya-z.cz/?p=30131
  2. Against what looks a weak ZG team this year, that's a very poor performance from Torun. They must be very frustrated with the performances of their "star" riders Doyle and Holder...Pretty pathetic scores from World Champions.
  3. Wrocław is probably my favourite Polish City of the ones I have visited. It's a lovely place and great for a short break. Getting to the speedway from the Centre is very easy, as R&R has said. The only slight downside to the whole thing is that I'm not sure I've ever seen a truly great speedway meeting there. As for accomodation, it really depends what you are willing to pay. There are some nice hotels there from the major chains, and I have always stayed in one or other of those, but I'm sure there are some great apartments and budget hotels too.
  4. Did they not end up with this format for the SEC itself because they were told they couldn't use the GP format? Having said that, I still don't understand why they use this format for qualifiers. Having semis and a final in a series is very different from a one off meeting. I think a straight 20 heats makes far more sense for a meeting like this.
  5. That was probably the most enjoyable meeting that I have attended at the Dale in a long time. There was some great racing with Scott Nicholls in particular showing his class around the small track. He was a pleasure to watch. I hope we see him back up here much sooner than his last visit It's also worth noting how swiftly the meeting was run. IMO, this is how every meeting should be. Obviously there are times when incidents and accidents make that impossible, but this should be the aim. As for the Monarchs team, it's still looking a bit shaky but there are encouraging signs. Joel looked much better than the last time I saw him, although his style still looks very awkward. Erik had a bad night. He looked like he was maybe missing the heavier surface of the early meetings. Josh offered some great entertainment, but really needs to sort out his gating, and maybe also work on his inside line. If someone is already on the outside he doesn't seem to have an answer most times. Heat 14 was a good example of that, with a clearly slower rider in the way, and that was his team mate! All in all, a very entertaining night, though...and it's not often I've said that about my Armadale experience recently!
  6. That's an interesting one. I didn't think PePe had even qualified for the Gold Helmet final. I wonder if others refused the SEC place or if they just ignored the Gold Helmet completely?
  7. From what has been said elsewhere, Proctor has the correct paperwork to race in the Premiership, it's just the paperwork for the Championship that he is still waiting on. Also worth noting that Workington DID get a guest facility for Proctor for their meeting tonight against Edinburgh...presumably because he DOES have a visa, it's some extra piece of documentation that is still missing.
  8. It did seem harsh that a clear 5-1 turned into a 3-3 due to a Torun rider falling on his own, but I'm not convinced they were robbed of a draw. If they had got the 5-1 in that race then Woffinden wouldn't have been eligible as a tac sub in heat 14, so it would have been Drabik, Milik or Lebedev partnering Fricke in that one and I'm not convinced that any of them would have been capable of winning that race.
  9. The information that was released earlier came from the track doctor who had obviously dealt with Jason trackside. They didn't say that he had no injuries, just that he wasn't complaining of any particular pain but needed to be checked at hospital. The latest news is that they think he may have broken a thumb.
  10. https://m.sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/747693/fatalny-poczatek-meczu-w-gorzowie-doylea-zabrala-karetka
  11. Reoorts saying that he is not feeling any pain but they think he may have a concussion.
  12. To be fair, Tony added 3 of his 6 World Titles after the millenium, which makes a substantial difference to the way he is viewed in the history of the sport.
  13. Polish websites have reported that Holder cannot travel at the moment as his UK visa has expired and he is waiting to receive his new one. If he leaves the Country he has to restart the visa application process from Australia. They state that he now has all the necessary visas for Poland, but obviously doesn't want to get himself shut out of the UK, so won't be racing in Poland until his new UK visa is in hand.
  14. Bellego - Poznan Lahti - Daugavpils Sedgmen - Krakow Porsing - Rzeszow Klindt - Ostrow Jonasson - Piła Of course, just because they are in a squad it doesn't mean they are actually guaranteed any meetings in Poland.
  15. For me, that's one of the massive negatives of the pairs format compared to the SWC fours format. When I'm watching team speedway, I'm supporting a team. In the SWC I watch my team race in every heat. In the pairs they will appear 6 times in the 21 races. So I have 15 races where there isn't direct interest or someone for me to support.
  16. Slovakia raced in the semi finals of European Pairs last year with Buri, Valkovic and Mihalik. Admittedly the meeting was in Slovakia and they might not be as keen to travel. Ukraine might be another interested. They usually compete in the Euro Pairs.
  17. I think Slovenia still has a track and team (as much as they have teams there) in the capital Ljubljana...
  18. I saw video many years ago of them racing regular speedway bikes around a speedway track whilst it was covered in snow...I think it was from Ukraine but could have been Russia.
  19. Unless you are listing it cheap because it's in poor condition, I think you might be undervalueing the Chum Taylor book. Based on Amazon Marketplace prices and previous ebay sales, it's the most valuable of them all.
  20. I know it's off topic, but I'm interested to understand what you mean by that...Feel free to PM me if you don't want to carry on the chat on this thread.
  21. So Kildemand would be available on 7.10, his last UK average, as he wasn't a full GP rider in 2017 and isn't in for 2018?
  22. Sorry if I've missed it but what is the criteria for being classed as a GP rider? Permanent in 2017? Permanent in 2018? Permanent ever? Raced any GP in 2017? Raced any GP ever? I've seen Kildemand being mentioned as a 9 and he wasn't a full member last year but has been in the past. If it's right he is a 9 what got him that 9? Does Smolinksi get a 9? Jepsen Jensen, A.Laguta, B.Pedersen, Ljung, Holta, Kołodziej, Hampel, Madsen, etc?
  23. 2010 meeting at Rye House had: Nicki Pedersen 12, Jason Crump 11, Krzysztof Kasprzak 11, Edward Kennett 10, Freddie Lindgren 10, Chris Neath 7, Ben Barker 7, Steve Johnston 7, Rory Schlein 6, Scott Nicholls 5, Niels Kristian Iversen 5, Tai Woffinden 4, Leigh Adams 4, Kevin Doolan 4, Daniel King 4, Adam Shields 3, Craig Watson 3, Filip Sitera 3, Viktor Bergstrom 1, Tomas Topinka 0
  24. Amusingly, the UK isn't using one of its FIM priority allocated nights. We have priority on Monday and Thursday nights. Denmark are the ones with priority on Wednesday.
