World Cup - Wroclaw July 2023
HenryW replied to Monarchs2468's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would that be the same Worrall who is 35th in the league with a 6.00 average, whilst Ellis is 3rd with 10.00? -
Does that not depend on whether you gave consent to be contacted for these reasons? They have your email address but I think GDPR laws say that they can only use this for the purpose it was provided, not any extra reasons unless you give explicit consent. Of course, if they are not even asking for that consent at registration then they are missing an opportunity, as you suggest.

Is the rule then targeted at European riders who have raced in Sweden, Denmark or Poland rather than Commonwealth riders? Although obviously more Aussies are starting out in Poland or Denmark these days as it's easier to race there than meet UK visa requirements.
-
That's the key thing to me. If you have a track that can actually be raced, the difference in the gates becomes much less important. Obviously it would be nice if gates were equal, but if they have to focus on something, I'd prefer that to be preparing a track that enables passing rather than making sure gates are all equal.

Poole Vs Plymouth 7th June league

I get what you are saying, but the bigger question is maybe whether the local support would come in at least the same numbers for a Monday or Thursday evening if you moved up? -
SGP and SGP 2 qualifying round nominations
HenryW replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
I'd still like to see more riders in the GP series. 15 permanent riders feels too limiting and makes it difficult to get new riders in, however the qualification process is structured. The era with 24 rider meetings obviously gave more opportunity for fresh faces, but the race format wasn't ideal. Something different definitely needs done to help introduce new riders. -
VERY VERY different crimes. Even if he was available, I would be surprised if anyone wanted to see Garrity back after what he did.

Warsaw GP Saturday May 13th 2023
HenryW replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A random thought, but I noted that one person in this thread commented on Zmarzlik's signature move of diving inside into corners. Another commented on him being given too much room around the outside. Is that not a sign of a great rider? You don't know how to race against him? If you move out, he dives under you. If you stay tight he goes round you? I know it's not really relevant to last night's final incident, but just seemed interesting that these comments were made. -

I thought it was an enjoyable GP. I seem to be in the minority here in thinking the refs decision in the final was a reasonable one. Just a shame for Holder that the result wasn't awarded. The other positions weren't in doubt when the incident happened, but I presume awarding wasn't an option? I thought the two incidents where riders lost out due to riders in front losing control might have merited more discussion. Both Bewley and Kowalski had to shut off to avoid out of control opponents and they lost positions due to this, which seems unfair. -
Tomorrow's two scheduled meetings have been called off. The restaging dates are a Sunday and a Tuesday, so looks like they aren't going straight to a default of Thursday every time at the moment.

Maybe he forgot how bad the tracks here can be

Do you mean rethink racing in the UK or racing at all? If the latter, I'm not convinced. If the injuries he sustained last year didn't stop him, this seems unlikely to.

Discovery Plus or BT Sport?
HenryW replied to ElmParkRG2's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As I mentioned on another thread, Eurosport is planned to continue as Eurosport until at least mid 2024. The rebrand for Eurosport will happen sometime between the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2026 Winter Olympics. https://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/broadcasting/tnt-sports-what-we-know-so-far/5179529.article -
Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024
HenryW replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
From what I have seen, Eurosport is staying as Eurosport UK at least until after the Paris Olympics next year. It's only BT Sport's that rebrands this year. -

Interested to know why you think this? Did it make the eBikes seem worse and so they would seem better on their own, or was it just that you weren't interested in them? Genuine questions with no agenda from me -
Who has the best start marshal?
HenryW replied to Petecc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He's probably the only start marshall that I could name, so he must have done something right -
He raced in the 1st division for league winners Krosno last season. Did 7 matches for a 6.97 average, which was around the same as Berge and Becker had in that league.

This is also part of the problem with enforcing artificially low team averages. It's the guys in the middle order who get squeezed out every time. High average guys are kept and teams are filled out with low averages.
-
I know he has a huge average that makes team building difficult, but it doesn't seem right to leave Sam out...
