  1. So how do the conspiracy theorists explain poor old Rico's performance today then? Post Gp-itis perhaps?
  2. Aha..thats just the sort of thing I was looking for! Thanks Sube.
  3. Could any of our continental members points me in the direction of the Czecho Extraleague fixtures for this season? Either to a website that has them or perhaps list them here? Any info would be much appreciated.
  4. Some great racing tonight. Nicki P deserved the win - was cheering him on bigtime in that last race- and Gollob looked like the Tomasz of old. Disappointment of the night was Bjarne - thought he looked well out of it - still Anton had a good one - some great switches off that 2nd bend. Felt gutted for Adams - what a sickener. If the other GPs are like this one I'll be happy. Couldn't give a rat's wotsit who wins it this year though...
  5. Agree with Honey...I thought Anton had crossed it too in one race, but as Steve, pretty much everyone was doing it and there was so much chalkdust you couldn't tell who was on the track or off it.
  6. Merchandise and stuff is on sale from the morning outside the stadium so you could do like a lot of people and head to get any stuff you want before the afternoon when it gets really manic there. I'd say make sure you're in Cardiff city centre from midday onwards - the atmosphere really starts to build. Get yourself to one of the pubs - the forum local is the Prince of Wales and you'll find plenty of us there. You'd be surprised who you'll see. What time you get to the stadium depends on whether you want to see Bonnie Tyler I guess. Whatever though, just have a great day - there's no other event like it. Are the U15s doing a few races this year? If so I hope that it's after the music and not before only I missed it last time.
  7. M30-something just off the exit to the 2nd bend. Front row. No idea where exactly and I can't find the email confirmation. Just look out for the Poole Tourism flag - its unmissable - purple and pink - my favourite.
  8. Nope...it was just an open meeting.
  9. Isn't the clerk of the Course an SCB official though and not a Poole employee?
  10. It would be a first if they did have specific jackets for the event tough - I've certainly only ever seen riders in club colours at the ELRC. Perhaps someone else out there has a better memory than me and can confirm it?
  11. Probably because the riders were representing their clubs and therefore most had their club kevlars on. I'd agree that having temporary numbers isn't very professional but it's my understanding that the riders wear their own clubs colour/race jackets. It's certainly how it's been in the past anyway rather than having specific race jackets (which I think are pretty naff anyway and thank the Lord we're moving away from) for the event. Certainly Sharp had plenty of coverage down there in various places anyway.
  12. Nice to see that AJ has so quickly recovered from that bout of flu that's kept him from riding from Arena for the last couple of weeks and from turning up yesterday.
  13. Well said 21CH. I'd meant to mention Ronnie in previous posts but never got round to it. I've always slightly taken the mickey out of Ronnie before, but last night, full marks to the guy. I've heard he's a good bloke on the quiet and last night seems to confirm it. Was also impressed with Loramski's attitude - shame a few more riders don't possess it. BTW..I meant to add a wink in my reply to you but in my haste I forgot. Sorry! Eastie - think you've hit the nail on the head in your post about the flights. It is probably the first time ever I've agreed with something you've put.
  14. Use your noddle...if you're miles away you phone or write to the stadium don't you to ask what you should do. That quote came from the local paper so wasn't intended for people away - no doubt it will be changed when it appears in the national publications.
  15. You're quoting snippets of a long session of on-going conversations between various parties - referee, promoters, CotC, riders - only bits of these were seen and heard on camera. You might want to neatly package things but unless you have the entire saga screen-written i don't see the point. As for washing your hands of me - you do what you want mush. No skin off my nose thanks. I know what I saw and heard there yesterday and a few seconds of TV footage is not the whole deal! At the end of the day there was only one loser there whoever you think is to blame - and that is speedway. However much it's dressed up the sport is doing itself no favours. I've seen meetings take place down there in much worse conditions - but then what would i know. I've only attended Poole for the last 17 years. If fans keep thinking they're being taken for a ride - and even the hardcore are fed up with attitudes after yesterday, there is only one way for the sport to go and these prima donnas will end up doing the sport on the continent only or on an amateur basis. I bet the Dream team would have ridden there yesterday given the chance!
  16. Look I'm not going to argue on this. The CotC is just one person involved there yesterday and as others have said that decisions were changing as much as the weather between all parties. The blame is with the riders - they were the ones ultimately refusing to get out there when even Hancock said it was raceable around heat 7 - perhaps you'd like to transcribe that bit on here too. You have your opinions on yesterday - I have mine. Can't believe you've actually sat and rewatched it and written all the conversations down though. There's a word for that...
  17. You're right Bob. The event was a purchased event so the decision on the re-admission was Poole's and Poole's alone. As it says in the local paper, it's not something they had to do, but along with all the flak being hurled around, it's good to see the fans being considered by the club at least.
  18. The riders were in agreement with him - fine but about exactly what? He said it was a waste of time - but were the riders in agreement with him that they could do no more? That the track was as good as it was going to get? Were we party to the further discussions between the CotC and the referee once he was in the pits? No... You guys have your opinion...I'll stick to mine based on what I saw and heard there yesterday, as well as the evidence on TV. Thanks.
  19. It's not the BSPA. I've been reliably informed today that the decision to make the re-admission tickets valid for the restaging is Poole's decision. However in the local paper Matt is also quoted saying '..if you can't make the re-staging date, bring your ticket to the speedway office and [they] will arrange a refund'.
  20. They have. Rubbish. You're just as likely to get wet weather in September/October as you are in April. In fact, it's usally pretty dry down here during April onwards. We're just unlucky this year with it being a wetter month. Having watched the TV coverage I've the following points to make. 1. Several riders said that the track was perfect prior to the start of the meeting including PK and Hans Andersen to name but two. Only Crump was whinging about it being watered. 2. The Clerk of the Course never said it was unraceable or unrideable as has been quoted on here, only that he thought they were wasting their time, and that the riders had been in agreement. In what context that is I don't know - wasting their time in that they had done all they could? Wasting their time in that the riders weren't going to ride anyway? 3. Greg Hancock, around heat 7 said that after the track work, the track looked rideable - yet he was one of those who gave up on heat 7 without even going out on track. I still maintain that one rider could have done a test on the track to suss it out. Or that they could have waited. The damn satellite picture was clear for god's sake and Matt knew this but the riders just didn't want to wait. Sure conditions weren't ideal but we've all seen meetings in worse conditions. And after watching the U21 Final from Weiner Neustadt and how wet it was there with riders still giving it a go, I can't believe how keen KK was yesterday to jack it in! Bet if the U21 title had rested on it yesterday he'd not have been so willing to back down after a bit of drizzle. I'm still gutted at yesterdays events, and I'm afraid the opposing views from people watching on TV aren't going to make me change my mind, especially as I've now had chance to watch the coverage also. If anything, it's hardened the views I had yesterday.
  21. All I can say this morning is that with Polish meetings today, and the forecast for that part of Europe being light showers, I'd be very interested to hear from some of our Polish friends what conditions the riders race in today over there and how keen the riders are to continue should anything drop from the sky. Somehow I don't think they'd dare try a repeat of yesterday at their respective clubs!
  22. SCB - it's a club event! These riders were representing their clubs not their countries!!! If he was supporting Nicholls, richardson, Louis, loram and Howe there today - as a Poole fan I'd have been disappointed!
  23. Yet again your hatred of Poole shines through. There was nothing wrong there today other than the riders keeness to get out of racing as soon as soon as they could. Yet again we have Jekyll and Hyde versions of riders who say one thing on camera and another off it! As for the Poole Clerk of the Course, he is one of the most respected in the country, taking charge of the British GP for at least the last couple of stagings. He is as about as experienced as you can get. I've yet to see your damning evidence of him, but after him overseeing all the track work that was going on, I doubt he was doing nothing! And yes i was watching all of that - I had plenty of time to do so! Yet again you make comments based on the limited TV coverage you were watching! Maybe he said they'd done as much as they could going forward - I don't know but unless Sky was party to the entire conversation in its entirety between ref and CotC then you're making suppositions -again! So you didn't see anyone do anything til it was too late? Again you were sat in your comfy room watching selective footage on TV. But then why let that stand in the way to have yet another dig at Poole eh?
