British Selection For 2007
rabbit replied to Gaz W's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Doesn't take much?? And I thought I was one of the more chilled personages on here (apart from where Poole are concerned). Damn...that's more to work on this week - my lunatic tendencies. -

This thread has a real perverse side to it. It's like looking at a road accident. You know what it's going to look like, you know you shouldn't look, but still you do. An then you wish you hadn't. -
Tony Rickardsson's Final Lap - Sweden
rabbit replied to rabbit's topic in International World of Speedway
Aha...thanks. Had a feeling there was a family connection in there somewhere. Suppose he would have had to have been very good to beat Brian A if it was his Dad. -

Paid max from 3 rides so far. On a slightly different topic...is Kent Rickardsson who's just beaten the Axeman in a match race Tony R's father? I seem to remember hearing he was an ex-rider or have I got him muddled up with someone else? -

You're a Poole basher? Since when? I only have one person on my ignore list so you can rest easy. -

I've answered my own question and found updates here on the Masarna site. Let's put it this way, he was a bit surprised to see certain people out there... I feel sorry for 1. the fans who've stood up for him over the recent farces and backed him all the way 2. the sponsors here who have financially backed him and finally 3. the Poole management who have made every allowance for him and given him every opportunity a young rider could want. I wasn't impressed before and to say I'm even less so now is an understatement! Edit: you just beat me to it Iris. -
Does anyone have any live updates from Tony's Final lap meeting from Sweden...or maybe later a report of the scorers? I'm told by a very good source that a certain Antonio Lindback is riding in it and has been spotted doing leg stretches and knee bends whilst warming up. As a Poole fan I obviously am interested in just how his recovery is going.

I'm having a sense of deja vu on this topic from last close season. My God, it's going to be a long close season on the GP front. -
Fair enough...bit I will be looking extra hard now at this line-up when it happens.

Quelle surprise.

Think we all know which outcome you're hoping for Sube. Oh blimey, think I'll avoid the forum on that day. -
Bloody typical Season goes from cr@p to worse.

Aha - I did hear that through the haze of the rest of his comments and wonder if it was you. Nice one - fame at last eh?! -

Next time that sad excuse of a commentator Millard blights our sport, I'm going to make a note of how many times he mentions variations of the world 'disappoint'. I swear I was ready to hurl the TV out of the door by the end of tonights meeting. I was waiting for even the winner of a race to have bloody 'disappointment'!!! And wtf was he on about at the rostrom presentations...first the flowers were genuine, then the smiles and then the celebrations. Arrgghhhhhhhh! In spite of his abomination of a commentary (the Final heat has to be the worst yet) there was some cracking racing tonight. Definitely one of the best and heat 7 has to rival the Gollob/Nilsen heat from a few years back as my all-time favourite GP race. Now the wait on the wildcards begins... -
Bydgoszcz Practice
rabbit replied to Blazeaway's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have no problem in believing he has a knee injury - my problem is him riding in the GPs to the exclusion to everything else. However this has been done to death in other threads, so best read those and leave this to the actual GP maybe? -
Bydgoszcz Practice
rabbit replied to Blazeaway's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Have copied this from my post on the Poole/Wolves thread To be fair to Anton and him seeming to be OK in the pits, having suffered knee injuries frequently in the past, often walking is fine - it's as soon as you put pressure on the knee at an angle or twist that either you get excruciating pain or the knee gives way. He may well have the knee strapped right up to try and keep it straight, but the problem may arise when in actual competition if he has to make an unnatural movement on the bike. So although he' s not showing visible signs doesn't mean there's not a problem. -
Well Done Lindback

Hold yer horses...no-one's yet said Antonio won't be back. There's a lot of positioning going on at the moment so don't take everything you read literally. Just because Matt has said only Bjarne is certain of a team place, I think it's just a warning shot to certain riders not to take their futures for granted. I'd not be surprised to see Anton back at Poole in '07. He's good value both in terms of exposure for the club and points so as long as he doesn't make any stupid demands and can do a deal I don't see why he'll miss next year. It's all down to how much he wants to ride over here imo. -
Nah that's just cos your lot were crap that night. Tonight got better - I've seen worse. Felt sorry for Antonio but that was a mistake down to inexperience, you could see what Hancock was trying to do riding the wide line. as soon as he goaded Anton off the inside, he snuck down the gap. He's young, he'll learn. Good to see Scotty riding well despite his injury. There's still time to salvage a top 8 place. As for poor old Rico, think it's back to the drawing board for '07.

And if he needs any guidance along the transition to full pro, there's enough on here to offer advice. -

Have to say Johnno must have the patience of a saint. I gave up screaming at Millard's cr@p halfway through and just mentally blokced him out. The odd mistake is fine, everyone makes one, but this guy does it constantly. Reckon Johnno must have had to have sat on his hands to stop himself from throttling the bloke. -

Referee was a total joke - even made Ma Vardy look decent with some of those decisions. Hope Rico isn't badly hurt - that was a nasty couple of incidents and was amazed he came out for that penultimate ride. Bjarne was well out of sorts tonight - think carrying Poole for the last couple of weeks is catching up with him. Amazing how fresh a break can make a rider... -
Don't see why Sube. AFAIK no approach has been made and my comments were based purely on a Poole free basis as my friend hails from Glasgow.
