  1. You two in cahoots or summat? Nah I'm off ghost-hunting in Cornwall the week before so definitely no Cardiff this year.
  2. Nothing could beat Cardiff last year on so many levels, so not going this year and be disappointed. Will watch on TV with some beers and a curry, and just hope that it's even half as good an event as 2007.
  3. Obviously can't comment on the track, but you can now see why there's never exactly a queue of EL tracks wanting to stage this, or the ELRC anymore. It's the same old, same old every single time.
  4. Typical of the BSPA to hold this on the eve of the start of the Polish season and then wonder why some of the Poles aren't there As for a winner tonight, I'm gonna show faith in Barney and Watty and go for our boys. Bring it back to Poole lads.
  5. You know, I saw that, but for some reason it didn't register. Dumbass of the day award goes to... Thanks Jacqueline too.
  6. Does anyone know if Sunday's first round from the Bundesliga is still on? I spoke to Adam Skornicki earlier who seemed to think it was postponed, but I didn't get chance to ask why. Any help much appreciated.
  7. He was, co-announcing with Nij, our regular announcer/ Very entertaining actually, especially the bit where he called one of Frank Ebdon's decisions outrageous.
  8. And we think we get weird n wonderful meetings over here. I noticed yesterday that the Gdansk-Torun meeting only went as far as Ht13, but couldn't make head nor tail why - it said 'Mecz zakończono po 13 biegach. Dodatkowo odbędą się wyścigi juniorów' - can anyone tell me what does translates as? I could only get the bit about juniors and heat 13.
  9. Rather sad if they're a fan Keith. Are they trying to bring bad publicity to the sport without knowing all the facts. I really do wonder about some people sometimes and how their brains tick.
  10. Slightly off topic but can someone just clarify the rules in Poland this year for GP riders and foreign riders. Also what is the deal with the junior/senior set-up? I'm sure I've read it many times before but would really appreciate the definitive rules before spouting off any rubbish!
  11. Not bothered about my old shoes - bit of dirt never hurt anyone - perhaps instead it could towards the cleaning of the nice new carpet around the PC I use in the grandstand where I think I finally left most of it. Whoops!
  12. Very difficult conditions to judge to be perfectly honest. Track was soaking wet and very sludgy on arrival at the stadium at 10am-ish and it took constant grading for nearly 3 hours to get it to a decent state. Luckily the breeze got up which helped to dry it out, but not before I appear to have collected a large proportion of it on my shoes! The meeting was raced with the constant threat of showers, any of which could have hit us and which were piling into the area - I know - we were keeping an eye on them on the rainfall radar all meeting in case anything should be building up and heading our way. At one stage mid-meeting it looked as if we were going to get unlucky, but thankfully it skimmed just to the north of us. So, agree, it may have been dusty, but decisions were taken based on the conditions and weather around on the day and knowing the riders, they wouldn't have wanted it watered anyway. And their say usually goes! As for the cab, it's not a local taxi, just a vehicle bought for promotional purposes and painted with Poole advertising - replaces the Smart car used inprevious years. Not quite sure about the fireworks as it was still light and not a lot you can do when it's not got dark by the end of the meeting - guess frankie was just a bit too fast! I do agree with you about the track staff being a bit too quick off the mark to get back on track though whilst the presentations were still going on - we commented on the same. Other than all that, I take it you had a great time?
  13. But Sandie - all they did was agree they'd split the money equally irrespective of who won. At no stage has anyone said they decided the finishing order prior to racing and watching the race again, it looked fair to me. That sort of arrangement would be a whole different matter and i could see perhaps an issue if that was made public.
  14. First time I've seen that again. It was a pretty good race - AJ made a hell of a swoop around the outside of the 3rd and 4th bend to go from last to 2nd. I remember it being a good race from the little I saw - it's funny how most of the people whinging about being cheated etc are those who weren't even there!! I reckon there were possbly around 4000 there to ne honest. It was heaving inside the glass granstand on the lower level, over 250 people upstairs in addition to those outside. It wasn't 5000 no, but it was certainly more than 3000. Too many people getting caught up on crowd numbers - it was a great day, a great occasion, and pretty much all those who went enjoyed themselves. That's the most important thing imo, not the exact number of people there.
  15. Great to meet you too Phil. Sorry I didn't get to chat much - yesterday was just manic from start to finish. Don't be to hard on the restaurant manager, he's a good bloke and what they had to go through yesterday was monumental with issues being thrown at them left, right and centre. I heard it all yesterday and to be fair the behaviour and attitude of some of our fellow supporters left a lot to be desired too! Even I took some verbal abuse there and I'm nothing to do with the damn restaurant, i just happen to use the PC there! The hours he and the others put in over this weekend to accomodate the meeting were ridiculous so if he did appear a little less than diplomatic now and then, it really wouldn't surprise me.
  16. Fair play to the guy. In fact to all of them. And it was a damn good final race to boot - Nicki was deserved winner but the other three you could throw a blanket over
  17. True Sube - but a lot of speedway is won in a riders head, and I get the impression that he can try too hard. I hope i'm proved wrong, but I think KK will possibly struggle because of well...KK.
  18. Saw Kasper afterwards chatting to his manager and he wasn't a happy bunny. Judging by the convo, he was well disappointed with his performance. Must admit I didn't expect him to much more in that sort of company and think 7 points was pretty accpetable. Think he's going to find the GPs quite tough as he's such a perfectionist who wants to win, win, win.
  19. Glad I'm not going mad just yet then! Frankie is a stickler for making sure the riders don't move and he held them that second time for an inordinate amount of time. Not surprised at all that there was another tape touching. Having said that, he was whizzing the meeting through at some a gallop it was good to have a bit of a hold-up!
  20. Much as I'd have loved Bjarne to win it, in some way it does give a meeting more credibility when there are no home riders in a final. Still not convinced that Frankie made the right decision in that tape touching race, but then i ain't a referee. I thought if Crumpy got moved back the 2nd time for touching (the imaginary tapes) again, he should've been out? Or am I wrong?
  21. Hmmm...tough call this Fox. Heat 1 started well with some good dicing throughout and I thought there were some good battles interlaced throughout the meeting. Our vantage point is such though, that sometimes I think we maybe see more switching around than elsewhere in the stadium at track level - looking down on rather than across the riders. There were quite a few early heats when the riders were 3 abreast coming down the back straight. There was one with Hans early on that was awesome to watch with him cutting across repeatedly. Top drawer. all subjective I guess. Nicki P was by far a cut above today though. Fair play to him.
