  1. So very shocked to hear this news. Sleep well Shazzy...one of the 'old BSF originals'. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends xxx
  2. Enjoyed this GP - hope this new Torun track remains on the calendar. It's certainly conducive to good racing. In fact the series so far this year has been a breath of fresh air. Can't call it at all for the title and enjoying watching the new guard come to the fore. Yes, there were a few holes but think we've all seen meetings where the track has come into play. Some riders will hit a ride and come off their bikes, others will use it to fire themselves into an advantageous position. Here's hoping that Cardiff produces as much excitement - it's making up for the league series.
  3. Same here. I've read this thread with amusement and think some fans need to lighten up and actually enjoy their sport instead of trying to micro-analyse and dissect every single aspect of every single comment that's made. It's supposed to be entertainment not torture. So what if there are a few inaccurate comments made, there are plenty in some of the documentaries I watch too - it happens, get over it, you either want to watch the content itself or you don't. So what if mention is made over Webbo's attendance - it's great that someone in the world of a major mainstream sport is watching and giving the sport some kudos, hell a shame more 'mere mortals' don't - the sport might not be in such a state over here. If you want intensity watch the news.
  4. Hans and Freddie pick themselves I think...quality riders with much to offer still on the GP stage. Tai is on the up, and will keep the interest (if not the adoration) of the British fans. Harris, I'm not sure about. I don't buy this Lee Richardson hype...he is not strong enough metally or physically for a GP season - never known an 'in his prime' male have so many illnesses as this bloke and it seems that apart from his core set of fans (strangely from one part of the country) most people aren't convinced about him either. The only credible alternative to a place was Zagar imo, but with Krsko apparently having bitten the dust, so it seems has his chance of a pick. So a 75% thumbs up for me...with a slight doubt over Bomber.
  5. Oh I dunno...it was the first track this season that I've thought whilst watching that I wouldn't mind going to next year.
  6. Best of the GPs so far - totally unpredictable and making the big boys work for their points instead of the usual powerhouse tracks with zippo passing. Bemused that the commentary boys were playing it down as not being 'pure' speedway - perhaps someone can enlighten me as to what 'pure' speedway is, cos I gotta say I prefer racing of the more unpure kind if that's the case. Think JC still has it in the bag, but this does at least give some interest in the last round. If it's as good as last night that'll do me fine. Did love Holta's wave of his water bottle as a mick take of this stupid craze of holding up drinks cans. Made I chuckle that did.
  7. I noticed that too..wishful thinking on his part or a hint he's on the shortlist for a place?
  8. Dropping his asking price for the UK now is he? How times change?
  9. I don't expect the people at Sky need to - their viewing figures probably tell them exactly what they need to know. And I can't see the numbers being that great in the series this year.
  10. Someone spike your Lucozade there tonight Mike?
  11. True, he's done the rounds and got through with hard work and I'm not begrudging him that at all. I'm just thinking about he series as a spectacle is all - plenty of better riders than Mango have tried and failed in the series. For a journeyman like him, I just can't see how he's going to live with the main body of the 16. We shall see - as ever I'm happy to be proved wrong.
  12. We'll see Steve. I'm looking at this objectively and not as a Poole fan. If he rode for another club would you be saying the same thing? It's true he has qualified on merit and fair play, but I think he'll be struggling to score more than a few points in the entire series.
  13. Holder great...Magnus will be totally outclassed in the series and doesn't enhance it at all imho. Hampel is not a surprising qualifier either. Think Lindgren should be OK to stay in of his own volition. Others may have to wait on the wildcards...
  14. Three hours and ten minutes of my life I'll never get back. Even the studio are now finally voicing the 'B' word with the rest of us. Only entertainment was notching up the number of times Mullard said 'disappointing' or 'disappointed' - 37 in all Just pray Terenzano provides some excitement. What odds on Sky Football Sports switching that one to the red channel again? I mean, there's just not enough ball sports on TV these days, is there?
  15. Let you have that one then...must admit I'm usually only listening with one ear to the commentary, it just sounded suspiciously like a 't' to me. But then I am from Dorset and pronounce 'v's as 'b's so I can't talk.
  16. But then he pronounces Pedersen as Petersen. Think he's a bit confused.
  17. Says all you really need to know about the GP when there's more comments on the start girls assets than the racing. Highlight (if you could call it that) was watching Nicky P blow his nose in his paper towel and then proceed wipe his face with it. Loverly....
  18. Rob's got it - A31 from Poole, onto M27, join the M3, turn off for Newbury up the A34 before joining the M40. Then off at Jct 15 near Warwick onto the A46 - it's dual carriageway or motorway from about 5 miles outside Poole to the TGI Friday's roundabout a mile or so from Brandon. That and Oxford are (were!) always two of the easiest tracks to get to and Coventry is even easier now that the Chieveley road works have been done and it's a seemless journey through where the old roundabout and lights used to be. Give it a try...you'll be surprised!
  19. Three or four? From Dorset? Ashie - you should able to do Coventry in 2 to 2 and a half hours easy from down here. I'd think you're taking the scenic route if you're taking 3-4 hours to get there
  20. Meeting improved as the track settled, and great to see the mighty Glob on top form. Just a shame the championship seems done and dusted already. Can totally understand peoples' frustrations about the switch to the red button. Would've been seething if we'd been out and recorded it, as hadn't seen this thread prior to the meeting and wouldn't have known a thing about the change. Guess from Sky's point of view, in addition to the commercial considerations people have already posted, there are probably also far more lucrative advertising revenues available from bigger companies for tennis than speedway. A no-brainer for the number crunchers making the decisions sadly.
  21. I liked this! Congrats to Nigel and his wife on their new arrival.
  22. Moley rocks...always gets a cheer in the rabbit household. We reckon he should be up for the BSPA presidency
  23. Dearie me...don't some people get wound up by silly things. As others have said, he's grown up with these guys and was probably just helping out his mates. I just knew as soon as I saw him that some people were going to get all indignant. As long as he gives 100% (or is it 110%) when he's riding for our national team, he can be in the Aussie pits wearing a bleedin' kangaroo suit and singing Waltzing Matilda for all I care!
  24. Yep, great job by the Sky team today. Thought Charlie has done exceptionally well anchoring the meeting - fronting to camera and being a roving reporter, and the Kelvin/Loobie duo commentating were great. I like Nigel P also, but this team definitely worked today. As for Charlie approaching riders, that's what she's told to do...thought she showed professionalism holding back when she could see riders busy/team talking and most seem to give her the time when they can. Anton was obviously struggling with bike issues at the time he said no - it's an important meeting so you can't blame a rider for wanting to sort that stuff first.
