  1. I am in Berwick about a mile from the track and the weather is amazing for late September. Anyone unsure about whether or not to come to watch this, stop swithering and come on down. You can always Sky+ the Euro championship! Causes don't come much more important than this
  2. I've just driven from Newcastle to just north of Berwick. It was dry from about Morpeth. Cloudy and cold so just about to put my thermals on. Should be fine for racing
  3. To be honest, I can't. I would if I could but don't actually understand it myself. There does seem to be some inconsistency here and I can understand supporters concerns. Having watched Harley Horwood race in the 2012 Australian championship and spoken to him and Trent Leverington, who was mechanicing for him, I reckoned that he would be ready for UK PL in 2013. Although I am surprised at his refusal, especially when others similarly able have been accepted, I need more information before being able to comment further. Sorry not to be able to be more helpful
  4. I am the Elite League reserve member. This means that I am only called on if there is an conflict of interest amongst the EL MC members. It also means that I am not entitled to attend MC meetings. Just as well, perhaps
  5. There was no "one club" that vetoed Glasgow's request to be allowed to change its race Day. Those for and against were given the opportunity to state their point of view and then it went to a vote. Although there was sympathy for Glasgow's request, a substantial majority voted for the race day to remain as it is. A bit boring, I know, but that's how it happened.
  6. Please don't twist my words - you asked how my quote was looking, not for my assessment of the last six months.
  7. Pretty good, I would say. In April, I said that, as far as I was concerned, there was no imminent danger of the Tigers folding for financial or any other reasons. Imminent, of course, is defined as "About to happen" and here we are, nearly six months later, with Glasgow speedway still running. Much credit and thanks for this is due to the supporters from Glasgow and elsewhere who dug deep to ensure that the Tigers would keep going.
  8. I have just seen this - and anyway, replying to it is my way of bumping this topic! I accept that the words I used about Stefan were old people's speak, but then, as my daughters point out, I am old. When I commented on how "fit" Stefan looked, I was particulalry referring to the toned nature of his back muscles.......goodness woman, he and I are both married men. What are you suggesting? Drooling, indeed
  9. I don't have many details, but I've had a text from Marcus Williams saying: "Damien Koppe winner, Josh Auty second, then Josh G. Richie Worrall hard done by (not actually the words used!) by ref in semi final. Rider of the night, Tom Perry. Tom made the final"
  10. I am more than happy to give my views - I thought it was an absolutely superb night, made that way as much by the huge number of supporters that were able to attend, as it was by everything else. David and Chris worked tirelessly to make this the best meeting (so far) of our promoting activities in Manchester, but the efforts of Steve Casey in bringing the whole thing together were also hugely important. The Jason Done thing was just a laugh and should be treated that way. Jason was up for it, so why not? BUT, he also said that he REALLY fancied having a ride on a bike, so who knows...! I know that some people claim not to have been fooled by it, but also know many who were - including my brother who I didn't let in on the secret - so it achieved what it was set out to do. I know it is early days, but David, Chris and I have already talked about what we can do for next year as, when we were able to reflect on Monday night, we realsied how much we had enjoyed the night, and how much we wanted to do better next time. Many, many thanks to all who attended. What a night! Gordon Pairman
