  1. You mean like signing Emil Sayfutdinov, Shamek Pawlicki and Piotr Pawlicki, yes we once had an owner like that, but unfortunately he was driven out of the sport by your hero, and we are all now seeing the terribleconsequences for Coventry Speedway, of that trail of events. I can also remember Peterborough, Ipswich, Birmingham and Eastbourne until recently being in the Elite league. Or maybe seasons when there was a full fixture list, including the Craven Shield, the KO Cup, unfortunately no more. So the downward spiral goes on, and it is only going in one direction. Yes how we all laughed at the 8.00000001 rule, the text message signings etc, meanwhile in the real world, hundreds if not thousands of fans have quietly walked away from the sport. And every fan that has quietly walked away, costs the sport several hundreds of pounds each, money the sport simply can't afford to lose. Then you get fans who used to go to 40 meetings a year now go to 30, fans who went to 30 now go to 20, and on and on. Nobody I know goes to more meetings, most go to less, often a lot less, many have simply stopped going at all. So by all means enjoy your pyrrhic victories,a win at all costs mentality is fine ,as long as the cost is not the very survival of the sport.
  2. In many ways that's the saddest part, Poole don't really have to cheat anymore to win the league. Years ago the league was won between March and October, now the league is virtually wrapped up between November and February. Barring an injury crisis the title is as good as over already. Quite how a side who walked the title yet again, comes out of AGM with the best reserve pairing by a mile, is beyond belief. It is though the other promoters have a death wish. Are the other promoters actually sober, when they turn up at the AGM? The meeting at Poole was a route, and Poole won at Brandon without their number 1. Newman apparently still graded as about 6/7? on the list paid 20. and Seargant 6 points, who would have guessed. Hans Andersen a multi grand prix winner, and world cup winner, now listed as a second string.. In the corresponding meeting last year he was facing Holder and Janowski, 2 grand prix riders in races, now at Brandon he is facing Garrity and Seargant in one race. In the end you just have to hold your hands up, Ford simply runs rings around the rest of the promoters, and has done for many a year.
  3. I shouldn't worry too much,as it seems like all teams will.
  4. Proof if ever any was needed that we should leave the EU. We have lost complete control of our borders, and this proves again we are now completely powerless to stop any lunatic or undesirable entering our country.
  5. Probably helps if you have a cuckoo in the nest, especially if the nest is based in a market town in Warwickshire.
  6. Err Uncle Matt halfway through last season at a guess.
  7. Has anybody checked the passenger lists for flights to Rome.
  8. Great team effort tonight from the Bees, solid from 1-7,and on this form we should give any team a match. The addition of JK has really strengthened the team giving us 4 solid heat leaders, with possibly the strongest reserves in the league.Classy touch from Leicester to have a minutes applause for Booey, and I bet he enjoyed looking down on a victory over our old rivals. With the news that the Coventry Blaze today made it through to the Elite league Play Off Final it made a real Super Saturday.
  9. As some one alluded to last night,it takes a special talent to call a 2 man race wrong, and then to compound that folly by continuing to call it wrong after the announcer had clearly called out the result. So as Peter York himself might say,'date sell past well buy his. Aside from that a decent meeting,JS rode extremely well ,but the one rider who has made great strides of late is Crang, who if he can keep this progress up looks a decent prospect for the future.
  10. Has been dry sunny and windy most of the day. Just had a light shower, but the sun is now out. Can't see there being any problem, as the forecast is generally ok.
  11. 1st time visitor,so indeed I missed the sign,a stadium that seems at the back end of beyond. Decent meeting although the extreme heat made the track a little dusty. Mind you would expect it to be pretty chilly in October.Good win for the Storm in a match they always seem to control, but very nearly lost at the death Crang continues to improve and impress.Nice to see a big following of Bees/Storm fans there, would be great if we can get to the play-offs,a just reward for the brave decision to run a National League team.
  12. Another pretty enjoyable meeting, very pleasing to see the team top of the league, even at this early stage. No reason if they can keep this form up,they can't be challenging for the title at the business end of the season.Without doubt this is the best decision that Horton has made so far in his tenure at Brandon, and for that he does deserve great credit.Hopefully the crowds will continue to grow,as the price is reasonable, and generally the racing is a pretty decent level.
  13. Pretty much agree with all that.Decent meeting which started on time, didn't drag on and was interspersed with some good races. The 'centre green' announcer was a breath of fresh air,a huge improvement to what fans normally have to endure. Probably the biggest away following seen at Brandon, since Swindon in the 2007 play-off final.Indeed I would wager there were more Cradley fans there last night than Poole managed back in 2010. Hopefully Cradley will eventually get their new stadium, something their loyal fans surely deserve.
  14. Don't like either,so hoping for a miracle and that Greg retains his title.Holder to me is the better rider than Nicki, however he will be forever tainted with the Poole connection, therefore I will hold my nose and hope dirty Nicki pulls it off.
  15. Ah a Poole fan suggesting a rider should deliberately throw a race, who would have thought it. Uncle Matt should be so proud.
  16. Well obviously not all of them are that bright, because some are still asking for Zagar to be included in their possible line up,and last time I checked he had a far higher average than Rico.Poole,Coventry,Peterborough,Swindon,Eastbourne have all tried and discarded him. Bees fans maybe split to an extent over the merits of Bomber and Scott, but I don't know one Bees fan who would ever entertain having Rico anywhere near a Bees team in future. Ask Wolves fans our local rivals who they would rather have in their team,Bomber or Rico.Think you would find the same answer with most tracks. And lets be honest if you could get our asset AJ back ,Lakeside would ditch Rico without a moments pause. Granted both Rico and Bomber haven't been great successes in the GPs,although at least Bomber has actually won one.He has been British champion twice,a title Rico has never ever won;and at least he qualified for the GP challenge. At the end of the day it is a subjective argument, neither is likely to be world champion.
  17. Thanks for those sage words Nurse Gladys. Perhaps he struggles to get into the top 8,because his poor gating precludes him from being a genuine top 8 rider, maybe he is only a top 15 rider. Have noticed some Swindon fans have been pressing the case of the Swindon asset Richardson over Bomber, yet seemingly none of them actually ever mention him for a possible place in their own team. If he is good enough for the GP's,you would think he would merit a mention in their possible team building options.
  18. Well if people want it all being decided on merit, how about just having 1 nominated rider.Tai being a Brit would guarantee at least 1 one British representative,he is young and alot of people see him as a future world champion,so give him the wild card pick. Then perhaps 9th and 10th in the GP's should be automatically seeded, after all the 9th best GP rider would surely generally be in the top 15 riders in the world.Same with 10th.That would mean Hans and Freddie would have earnt a GP place. Finally award the last GP spot to the 4th highest scorer from the actual GP qualifier, that was Freddie but as he has would have already qualified it would go to the 5th highest scorer ie Bomber. Therefore the 4 extra riders next year would be Hans,Freddie,Tai and Bomber who then would have largely been picked on merit, rather than the haphazard method presently used.
  19. Great to read your confirmation on being right on these matters, because you told yourself you were-who could possibly argue with logic like that. By the way are you related to that nice man in 10 Downing Street? Oh do come to Brandon, you would be amazed how many Bees fans who wouldlike to meet you.Plus Iwould hate to think you went a whole season without going to at least 1 Elite league match. We will be sure to get the men in white coats standing by,and the medics in case you hyper-ventilate on seeing Scott. It would be a golden opportunity for you to meet your idol Scot and tell him to his face how you feel about his speedway worth.Or perhaps meet Mr Sandhu and question his morality for employing a rider for daring to consort with a member of the opposite sex. But please don't let this impending visit to Brandon deter you from your daily 30 posts on Scot being in the GP's. I reckon at the present rate you should be upto about 900 posts by the end of the season. However it would be advisable not to to go over 1000 posts, else some people might think you had become a deranged, obsessive lunatic. Still 900-950 postson the Scot/GP subject is a reasonable amount for a normal, well balanced human being.Don't think anyone could quesion your sanity with that number.
  20. Come on Russ don't be too hard on him.Just savour the moment we all had in the Belle Vue bar las night-as we all imagined the glorious thought of that rather sad individual deep in his bunker at his northern outpost-foaming at the mouth, shaking with rage at the perceived injustice of his anti christ Scott getting a GP spot. Gee now we can look forward to 100's more posts over the next few months, with spite and bile pouring forth on a daily basis. To try and guess how many 100's of different ways he can say the same damn thing-priceless! And finally when we all have lost the will to live Scott will still be in the GP's. Plus if us poor deluded Bees fans are really lucky,he may even grace us with a visit 1day.You know leave the bunker behind and watch an Elite league match. He has been known to visit every couple of years.Althoughwith the number of hopeless Brits in our team, and the fact we sacked 1 of his beloved Poles, the ever so reliable Hlib, maybe even that is doubtful.
  21. Think it is similar to his previous vendetta against AJ,perhaps he just has a thing against Bees riders.Perhaps Scott and AJ need to take out Polish nationality,I think you will find that might do the trick. I believe Scott finished 9th last year and was in the top 8 before he broke his collarbone and since the grand prix are for the top 15 riders,I can't see what the problem is.Unless people are suggesting Scott isn't in the top 15 in the world,I don't think even Hans would say that. Perhaps you actually have to see riders in the flesh regularly, rather than sitting by a computer screen monitering the Polish leagues to properly appreciate certain rider's talents. Perhaps the rider who should be dropped from the series is Gollob, who whils't on occasions still produces moments of magic, often looks disinterested and a pale shadow of the rider he once was. Same with Bjarne the idea that he is not a world class rider beggars belief,as I'm sure every Poole fan would testify, along with us Bees fans who saw his performances last week.
