  1. The "Andrew Silver" thread got me thinking about other riders I remember from when I was going regularly. Having been out of touch for a few years there are quite a few who've vanished completely.......anyone know what they're doing these days? Paul Whittaker? Andy Galvin (Have a feeling he was never really back on form after his nasty injuries - would I be right?) Green twins - Simon & Derek - lovely pair of guys - Derek had a terrible crash at one point I remember and was a bit "touch and go" for a few days, but pulled through. Scott Humphries? (Back in Aus I assume). Great to see that Alan Mogridge is still riding - he was always fantastic to watch!
  2. Strangely enough - those were the first two meetings which jumped into my mind when I started reading this thread! Will NEVER forget that night at Plough Lane - what a season that was! Of course, full match reports on those are available already written up in Mike Western's book "7 men for one season". There have also been some cracking 16-lappers at Foxhall - always a crowd pleaser that one although it helps if several people run out of fuel.....!
  3. No. 55 - you can remove the ? - that is definately Randy Green. Photo is from 1987. On no. 60 Obvious ones are Chris Morton, eremy Doncaster, Wiggy, Neil Evitts, Neil (?) Collins.
  4. When I first attended speedway in 1987, I seem to remember that it took me 3 - 4 meetings to get to grips with the basic rules - Tactical subs, rider replacement etc. I have not been in a position to attend regularly since about '95, but until the past couple of year had always managed a few meetings each season, thus ensuring I stayed reasonably up to date. NOW I am looking forward to attending my first meeting in a long while tonight at Foxhall ("Come on you Witches!!!") and am in the position of being completely flummoxed by all these ridiculous new rules! Whatever happened to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?
  5. Einar Kyllingstad (?sp) Randy Green
  6. I'm also a returning fan, after sporadic attendance over the past few years due to work committments I'm now trying to get back to seeing racing on a regular basis. What happened to Wiggy? He was one of the first riders I saw racing during his somewhat unhappy year with Hackney in 1987. Poole '88 - Far left is Robbie Fuller, Kneeling on the left Craig Boyce, and on the bike Steve schofield of course. Tony Langdon has already been named believe.
