Ipswich v Oxford Thursday 10th April

Support a team that were champions 2 out of the last 3 years and illiterate, or support a team that are favourites to win this year and literate. I know which I'd rather be. -

Belle Vue fans are weird -
Yeah, he was on Top Gear

Do Poole have one? If they do, I'm not sure they've been using it right.
-
You're all arguing over something you know nothing about. Has anybody seen Cairns' contract? I doubt, so it's impossible to say whether he's getting paid loads or hardly anything.
-
Absolutely, I completely agree. But - as other people have said - he's surely worth the risk on a 4/4.5? How many active Grand Prix winners are available on that sort of average?
-
You're not very good at comparing people of similar ages are you? 😁
-
Fair point. But you've got to feel a big signing is on the way.
-
Not really. Eric Cantona last played professional football 27 years and is 58. Peter Kildemand last won a Grand Prix 8 years ago and is 35. You're entitled to your opinion, but I look forward to him proving you wrong!
-
Surely signing a former Grand Prix winner on a 4.5 average (if true) is anything but a terrible signing.
-
That's got to be one of the weakest reserve line-ups I've seen at this level for a long time.
-
Cooper Rushen turns 15 at some point next year doesn't he? Remember seeing an interview with him in which he said he'll sign for a first professional team in 2025.
-
Good.

Any danger that Magic isn't coming back to the UK in 2025?
-
Is Martin Vaculik signed up anywhere other than Gorzow next season? Looks like he might have some spare time!
-
But they do lie, don't they, because it's not a '2024 average' if you don't take into account all meetings surely? By all means say a '2024 league average' and you'd be right, but it's false to only include league meetings when stating the term '2024 average'. The simple fact we disagree proves my point.
-
Correct, but they don't take into account all the meetings staged in 2024 and nothing else. GSAs are the only thing relevant for team building, not as useful as 2024 averages when comparing how riders performed in a calendar year.
-
There are no official '2024 averages'. The only official averages are the green sheet averages, which have nothing to do with individual years. The term '2024 average' can be taken in whatever context the poster wishes, whether that be every meeting or non cup and play-off. It seems a bit odd to discount cup and play-off matches to me as they took place in 2024 - but basically, you're both right in your own way.

If Vinnie Foord was a racehorse
CoffeeandTV replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Think 'moving on' probably applies to both of you. You're not going to agree, so one person needs to stop responding - and seeing how he appears to enjoy winding you up, and you're bored of it - why isn't that you? Either way - the horse racing clip is pretty funny! 😁 -
I would say crowd sizes go... 1 - Ipswich 2 - Oxford 3 - Belle Vue 4 - Sheffield 5 - Leicester 6 - King's Lynn 7 - Birmingham Oxford probably would be top if they didn't race in the Championship as well, that has to dent Premiership crowds a bit. Basically the top 5 are all pretty close regardless, and are all well supported.

Annual General Merry Up 2025
CoffeeandTV replied to SuffolkWitch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Does anybody exactly when the AGM is taking place? -
Certainly helped that the playoff final was between the team best supported teams though. Two clubs who regularly get close to 2,000 per league meeting, let alone a playoff final between the two of them.
-
He was sensational when at Leicester. Was very disappointed when he left for Oxford/didn't continue in the National Development League. He's come a long way in a very short space of time, there's always bound to be a few hiccups on the way.

Vinnie Foord - is he too dangerous?
CoffeeandTV replied to BackInTheDHSS's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hopefully Vinnie Foord doesn't read this thread. But if he does I hope he just listens to those telling him to seek advice from more experienced riders, as opposed to those saying he did nothing wrong or calling him a lunatic. -
Vinnie Foord - is he too dangerous?
CoffeeandTV replied to BackInTheDHSS's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As a Leicester fan, I've probably seen him ride more than most. He's a bit of an enigma. He'll be fine in 75% of meetings, but that other 25% he is definitely reckless, bordering on dangerous. It feels like in some meetings he feels he has a point to prove and tries a bit too hard. Would I have him in my team, though? Probably, simply from the fact he has the ability to improve and the ability to iron out those reckless tendencies as he gets older. On a side note, I do find it strange that the Poole fans are so blinded by this. You don't see Leicester fans having the same blinkered view of him. There's no doubt he's a bit crazy on a bike, but he can definitely be quick. It's about recognising both of those facts. He's never going to improve if he's just surrounded by people telling him he's doing great.
