  1. Huh... So day 1 points are given for overall standing, with placement finals of four for the bottom 12, where the winner of the 5-8 final joins the top 4 in a 5 rider final. Then on day 2 normal heat points get added to the total. Then the day 2 finals look like they begin with a 16 rider heat, which seems like a bit much... But what actually happens is that the bottom 12(?) have placement finals and get points based on the overall standing from those. Whereas the top 5 race four heats of five with a special points system, the points from which get added to the previous points total to determine the winner... Somewhat strange, I must say...
  2. Haha. I do like the idea of SGP 2004 without Coalition Nations. Only 7 of 24 full time riders left. From a grand total of 3 nations. Sweden, Czech Republic, and Finland. Including number 19-22. Tony Rickardsson beating Andreas Jonsson in Prague and Krško.
  3. Wow! Where did they do that? I know they did a 6 rider 6 lap final at the chocolate race in Vojens, but 16 laps..!
  4. Bit of an ignorant question here - I suppose all questions arise from some degree of ignorance - but I know about Wolverhampton Olympique's special handicap system, and the Golden Helmet of Pardubice having 6 riders per heat, so I'm wondering whether other meetings have (had) their own special rules to make them stand out? Perhaps you've even daydreamt up some hypothetical ones yourselves...
  5. The bottom tier is still retractable. They have athletics there every year - so the track could just be laid over the running track.
  6. Alexander Stadium in Birmingham and Hampden Park (more cramped, but still less than Cardiff) would also be candidates in GB.
  7. Speaking of temporary tracks... Why don't they have a GP at Silesian Stadium?
  8. Was the SGP really created for all those rounds at small permanent tracks? And an endless supply of Polish meetings? They really should bring back the world final, shouldn't they... Have it at London Stadium every year!? As a Wembley replacement.
