  1. Them how does the Football FA cup manage? I'm not suggesting a 2 leg contest just one leg where home track advantage would help out the smaller teams if they are drawn at home. As for the "nice little earner" How many belle vue fans would turn out at say buxton, workington or stoke, and how many eastbourne or poole fans would go to IOW or Newport? Plus its a trip to tracks not usually seen or riden on for some of the younger guys in the CL and PL, and their supporters. As a season opener the competition could work as a pure knockout and would only last a few weeks. Yes the BLC was a farce last year, but as I said ealier there were a few excellent meetings.
  2. Just a thought, but if it had been Nicki Pedersen or Hans Andersen doing the kicking would we have had 10 seperate topics on the forum by now, with hundreds of posts. I know they didn't, but kicking out at someone still isn't right, fortunately NP didnt end up losing control and wiping out the rest of the riders outside of him. I know I may get a slagging for this, but NP and HA have been verbally attacked on this forum for unsportsmanlike actions, so what was Crumpy doing? If not the same then similar.
  3. Last seasons inter league cup competition was a bit of a farce, but there was some good meetings, with Premier League sides doing well against weaker Elite league sides. Would it be an idea to have a competition between all three leagues, like the FA cup in football. I know that a conference league side would not stand much of a chance against the likes of Poole at Poole, but they might have a chance at home. Imagine the result at say Buxton or Mildenhall, I'm sure that most Premier league teams would not enjoy a trip there, never mind the likes of Belle Vue or Swindon. Sky would enjoy it as it pits the smaller sides against the big boys, and home advantage can be a great leveller for the smaller teams, and everyone loves it when the underdog wins. With the gate profits split 50:50 it could be a nice little earner as well. Doubling up riders would have to ride for the lower of their teams, as the larger teams have other riders to call upon. Where there are both Premier and Conference or Elite and Conference teams at the same track the draw could be seeded to keep them apart. Wouldn't this be a way to get the lower leagues on the map or the TV. If it was held at the start of the season before the leagues started using last years averages, I think it might work.
  4. I think we can get the idea of what is being said. It certainly shows how seriously the Breeze block "joke" was taken. Are we going to hide behing the "they dont understand our sense of humour" line? Should the perpitrators apologise to the Danes? Or are they cowards as well?
  5. What Hans Anderson did was wrong, but what has happened since is worse. I dont know if he received death threats, but I do respect what Jan Steachmann has to say. Just consider that on this forum a few have agreed with chucking a breeze block at him, add to that the posts on his web site, I dont think I would run the risk of appearing either. The post on here may well have been as a joke, but add it all together and it does seem a bit more serious. OK we lost, but I dont think that Scott Nicholls would have beaten Peter Karlsson anyway. We can all ask "what if", but lets not get too carried away with the spite, leave that to the footy fans and not our "family" sport.
  6. In the NL how about John Jackson, classy.
  7. I first saw Phil Crump in 1971 as a second half rider at Crewe, where on a borrowed bike he frightened the life out of the established heat leaders. He was the backbone of the Crewe double winning season of 1972 and apart from the odd engine faliure he was unbeatable at home. Not the classiest of riders, but if you ever needed a rider to give 200% Phil was the man. I saw both Jason and Phil (spannering not riding) at Stoke ealier this year at Jan Steachmanns testimonial and where Phil was 100% grit and effort, Jason is a much more polished rider and I for one hope he wins the GP title this year. Phil Crump the fastest reserve I have ever seen, for 12 meetings anyway. The man is and always will be a legend to Crewe speedway fays.
  8. Paul O'Neill, Colin Tucker, Geoff Curtis, John Jackson, Jack Millen, Dave Parry, Dave Morton and Phil Crump (the fastest reserve i have ever seen). And any other of the mighty Kings. Oh the good old days of earle street.
