  1. Sounds like a great idea, let's hope the next Peter Collins, Michael Lee or Nark Loram come from this. I wish you the very best in this.
  2. There is credibility and integrity in Speedway? Thats a new one, I know there is dishonesty and gamesmanship though.
  3. It wasn't the paying fans, the incident happened where the riders vans were parked, so it was mainly hangers on with access all areas passes. Time to limit these deadheads getting into the pit area.
  4. Well done to the Danes, they deserved the victory. It has to be time for this double points stupidity to stop, it does make a mockery of the sport. If the FIM like it so much why isn't it in Moto GP, or any other motorcycle sport? I can just imagine the uproar if a Moto GP rider was allowed to declare a race for double points because he was too many points behind. Typical of speedway, we have had 4 good meetings, been shown some excellent racing. Yet all of the discussion is about a petulant Aussie spitting and a stupid rule.
  5. He would only drive them away, as he has all the other speedway fans in the area.
  6. The FIM were interviewing the stewards and others until late on the night, due to a fracas in the pit parking area. I'm not sure but I think it was a spillover from the Harris/Holder incident in heat 10. From talking to the stewards it wasn't even Holder or Harris's pit crew either, just some of the many hangers on with access to the pits.
  7. Last night was simply the best speedway meeting I have seen for years, if not ever. My first visit to the Norfolk Arena and it won't be my last. The track was superb, shame some just can't turn their home track bias off and give a little credit where it's due. It was interesting to talk to the Chapmans after the event, even if I was a bit drunk. Very refreshing for promoters to speak so openly about the inner workings of the 'annual piss up'. I hope they get the final at Kings Lynn next year as it will be a cracker and just reward for their efforts. I'm not expecting 'team Gb' to get to the final, but as long as the 4 riders chosen give the same effort that they put in last night I will be happy, as a nation (and that includes the sweaties) we do not have the strength in depth to compete with the Danes, Swedes, Aussies or indeed now the Russians, but with some forward thinking from the BSPA we could in a few years.
  8. Such a positive post, so glad you lit up my day with your sparkling wit. Now get your homework done its a schoolday tomorrow.
  9. I hope the new potters riders will enjoy the new forgiving safety fence?!!!! Having seen riders slide under the air fence at Gloomy rd, the new Steel barrier will be most welcoming, Not!
  10. Depends on which Jack Hargreaves turns up to ride. If its the one that wants to ride then he will do well, if its the wannabe playboy his average will halve. I have to admit I liked watching Jack at Stoke, I hope that a bit of maturity will be the final ingredient in him making a go at Speedway.
  11. Isherw0000d, wow what a suprise. I hope someone can help him get out of the starts, it always looks like he is riding with an automatic clutch. Good luck to whomever posts this on PP.
  12. An independant body not an independant person. Where are the checks and balances with an individual running the league? His own personal feelings and bias will always cloud his judgement.
  13. Just look at the setup for helping young riders in Poland, Denmark and Sweden, from a very young age they are nurtured and developed to be the complete package. It is not a 100% foolproof setup though, Lindback went off the rails, a few of the Danes have come over and flopped as have some Swedes. For every Lewis Bridger with the talent and the opportunity there are 10 Barrie Evans, Luke Priests, Simon Lamberts and Simon Walkers who are having to graft their way up the leagues, so the sweeping statement about young Brits is very harsh. Until the BSPA take the comission off the Tango one for his "brokering" of the SKY deal and put it into the under 15's or younger 250 and 80cc development leagues. Or use some of the money from the EL/PL to help. Then young Brits will always be shovelling ball bearings uphill to break into this sport. At the moment it helps the promoters to bring in untried foreign riders on low averages. When they start looking to the welfare of the sport rather than their own self interest then they will be fit to run the sport, until then they should be removed from the running of the teambuilding rules and an independant panel should be doing it. P.S I forgot to add that your critisism of Ben Barker is unfounded as well, away from the track he may let his hair down, but when it comes to his machinery, fitness and attitude to his racing it is 110% professional.
  14. It will be yet another Ricky Wells, 3 point PL rider struggling to score a point. Untill the BSPA enforce British only reserves in every side in the EL and PL, promoters will continue to bend and break the rules they set to bring in these medeocre foreignors.
  15. I await your opinions of how well the Stoke promotion treats its paying customers. It shouldn't take too long for you to see the unprofessional way that meetings are held. Your attitude of if you don't like it don't do, comes across as very arrogant, I hope you don't act that way to everyone you meet at Stoke, they do not suffer fools gladly at Loomer Rd.
  16. If you had experienced just a few meetings in the past seasons, perhaps you would understand the anger. One article in the Speedway Star will not weigh against years of broken promises, abuse of supporters and general missmanagement of Mr and Mrs Tantrum. But what would us "internet wallahs" know.
  17. I have to admit to seeing many good meetings at NL level, but I have seen a few processional ones as well, the majority of poor meetings that I saw were at Stoke with the Spitfires. That is what the crowds at Stoke remember, I don't envy your position Malcolm, you have to change a lot of years of neglect of the customers. Stoke's track should be ideal for NL racing, it is a racers circuit and gives many lines into the corners, I hope that the NL takes off at Stoke and that the crowds will return. All I ask is that the presentation of the product on display at Stoke is improved, it shouldn't be hard to do on last years performance.
  18. Great to see the Colts returning to Speedway. Wait for the new PC to come through the ranks.
  19. There are only 50 odd posters who regularly post on PP, and most polls are answered by 60 to 70 its only a small minority of the actual crowd at Stoke. However, if Stoke don't set the NL on fire from the very start and the promotion do not improve the presentation of the product there will continue to be a decline in numbers. There are a number of fans that will continue to go on a Saturday night, mainly just to see what the racing will be like. If there are still generator problems, constant tractor racing, sun breaks followed by intervals meaning 4 hour meetings, poor public relations and the product is not up to standard, then Big Lad will be correct and the speedway crowd will decline. This season is a big one for Stoke, mainly for the promotion to mend a few bridges with their PAYING CUSTOMERS.
  20. It would still be run better than the classroom antics of the 2 "higher" leagues
  21. It needs to be 100% more professionally run than the PL effort last year. Breaking generators, constant tractor racing and crazy call offs will not bring the punters back in.
  22. So Poole and possibly Coventry made a profit, the two best supported teams. Why would KL make a profit? Apart from reserves how many of their own assets will they be using? For them to have made the step up at such short notice they must have been given some incentive.
