British Final 2024

Yes that would be an option but could be difficult to schedule in a season with a lot of rain offs. -
British Final 2024
bellevueace replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Tai benefitted when it was held at Wolves, there was home track advantage for all the years it was held at Coventry, even the BLRC at Hyde Road didnt produce a majority of BV winners Briggo six on the spin for example, its always been the case. Unless it could be held at a totally neutral track which would be difficult as someone is always going to have home advantage. The only answer really is a different track holds it every season. -

Think its going to be the off button soon, borefest. -
The times people have said to me speedway is it still going.

I only returned from holiday at 1630 yesterday so cant comment on events as i wasnt there, when we landed at Manchester airport in the rain and i saw how wet it was it appeared there had been heavy rain, a mate of mine said the weather had been bad so i automatically assumed the meeting would have been off. Reading the comments it seems to have been a shambles, strange that Buster calls off meetings when there is no rain and yesterday when the weather was poor and a call off could be justified they ran it. It seems reading comments from people that were there the club shot themselves in the foot with this one.

You were talking about H&S being the most important metric on the planet not just in speedway stadiums, it was a generalization, my point is health and safety is about taking personal responsibility, my examples of elf and safety gone mad shows how its got out of control with the kiljoys looking for risk where there is none, state nannying is taking away enjoyment from simple pleasures. As for speedway of course safety is paramount but with all the introductions of air fences, dirt deflectors etc its still four men racing 500cc motorcycles out of choice eradicating all risk is impossible. Look at the risks in other sports especially boxing, a sport that people actually want to ban.

Like making kids wear goggles when playing conkers, kite flying banned on Bridlington beach, a shop refusing to inflate a balloon for h/s reasons, ban the yoyo and sack race, a racecourse banning picnics on the grounds that it constitutes a trip hazard, i could name numerous examples of this nonsense, i was brought up to use commom sense something sadly in short supply nowadays.

That was my point a good example of team riding from Jack, first looked back to see if he can help his team mate when he saw that wasnt an option he then secured the win. Agree with your other points.
-
I noticed just after Jack Holder looked round to see where Howarth was seeing he was adrift at the back he then cleared off for the win, the lack of team riding nowadays really is a negative in team racing, at one time team riding was the norm and made for some great racing. Today generally a team is just seven individuals, even though we lost fair play to Holder and Woffinden for a demonstrstion of the lost art.
-
The processional racing, if you are a fan of that fair play to you

Should have stayed at home and watched the washing go round going off what weve witnessed so far. Belle Vue running too many last places at the moment.
-
Comfortable home win 52-38 ish.
-
Milik at reserve is totally shocking.
-
Im still to be convinced never thought he was the rider a lot make him out to be, talented but not the second coming of PC or Mort as some would have you believe.
-
One trick pony im afraid, i just dont think hes the rider the hype makes him out to be.

Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April
bellevueace replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was expecting far better from Rew especially at reserve, can only improve from here. -
Was that due to streaming or the weather? Probably a bit of both.
-
A great rider, what he acheived as a late starter was incredible RIP.

If it had been Doyle instead of Holder Sheffield would have had it in the bag after the first leg. -

What seems to have been forgot is Jack Holder scored 2 points in the first leg if he had managed 4 or 5 which he should have Sheffield would have won despite Lambert. -

Yep only Lambert as a like for like replacement, not a premier league select like what won last season -
Sad News RIP

Yes it would seem those that followed Coventry and Cradley have drifted away from the sport, would probably only return if their own clubs came back.

Considering Birmingham appeared to be struggling crowd wise i thought it a strange move to move up into the premiership given the additional cost, at least it keeps another club going but will they see out the season? Those were my initial thoughts, Birmingham is a large city with a good catchment area and given the loss of Coventry, Cradley, and now sadly Wolves the opportunity is surely there to attract good crowds, so taking their time to put out an attractive team with a competetive top two is understandable. Good luck to Nigel Tolley i hope he pulls it off, i hope Birmingham turn out to be a sucsess story. Happy New Year to all forum members.
