Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018
bellevueace replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Very true, this meeting is certainly not in the best interests of British speedway, If Kings Lynn (Chapman) didn't cancel against Leicester he certainly wont against us, no doubt he sees it as an opportunity to gain away points, that its not his club losing financially only enhances his opportunity. And this is the man who is Chairman and the person who is supposed to be taking the sport forward? I have always liked Kings Lynn as a club and this would have been a good meeting with two full strength sides, sadly im not paying to watch half a side, the money I save will go towards the Swindon trip on the 31st. -

Wolves have Monday as their regular race night, Poole retained their regular Weds nights, and Swindon have kept a majority of their Thursdays, the real drop in attendances appear to be BV and Rye, is it a coincidence that these two clubs have been forced to move from their preferred race nights? Somerset have also had to move from Fridays but don't know how that has affected them, perhaps moving away from the busiest period on the M5 has helped them? -

A poor meeting by NSS standards but in the end far better than the borefest I witnessed when we were down your place. -
Cardiff Accommodation
bellevueace replied to thecoombdog's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
People seem to overlook Bristol, plenty of accommodation for all budgets, only 47mins on the train to Cardiff, and its a great place to stay over umpteen things to do. -
He was always going to be way out of his depth, I want him to do well but fear what we saw tonight could be the norm, my pre season fear was how a poor GP series could impact negatively on his BV form, we saw last season after a poor Cardiff and WC that negative impact. His club form hasn,t really taken off yet either.

MikeBV makes some excellent points in a very good post, but surely when the marketing people have done their thing the actual product has got to match up to the hype? Using the Polish meetings ive seen it certainly does not do that I lose interest in the processional fare served up aqnd im not paying to enter the stadium, so why do so many still attend when the actual product does not produce? In darts the PDC has the top players and produces great matches unlike the BDO. -

I think you are spot on with that assessment, if the entertainment served up not just on Monday does not tempt people through the turnstiles speedway has a real problem, having said that ive seen several polish meetings this season and overall the racing has been very processional but look at their crowds, doesn't add up to me. -
Having gone to Stoke for the past two seasons watching the Colts I decided against going again after heat 15 last season, it was utter dire, after reading fubar,s experience I'm so glad I wasn't tempted. It a real shame as I used to go regularly if BV didn't have any away meetings in the days of Crabtree, Monaghan, etc. Then the racing was always very good and ive seen a lot of superb racing around there, to see how ramshackle the place has become and the awful state of the track is sad. As fubar said speedway is better than this.

Very true the NSS is very fair and away riders love it that will always make it more difficult at home. Same could have been said many years ago about Hyde Road but i remember when opponents got nowhere near the Aces meeting after meeting. -

We have scraped home the last two meetings hanging on in the end, wouldn't surprise me if Wolves nicked this. A lot will depend on who we get in for Worrall and how Drozdz goes. -

The key word is professionalism with Joe, he always struggled with his weight for example and I don't think he applied himself in a way off track with lifestyle choices that were detrimental to making the most of his talent. Don't get me wrong, im not saying Dan is going to be another PC or Mort, that's a big comparison, im saying he is the best natural talent we have had (BV) since those two. Promising riders in the past have failed to progress as expected but the one thing Dan has behind him is a good team with the knowledge and ability to keep his feet on the ground, hes a level headed lad. Steve Lawson is a good mentor. -

Expected result with Wolves comfy winners, the start Morris has made must be a big bonus for the Wolves fans. Hes scoring some good points fair play to him. -

Well done Dan a brilliant performance and what a race with KK in heat 15 coming through from the back to complete a paid max. We were asked where was the boy wonder after the PC meeting, think people are starting to realise where he is now, a great natural talent and lets not forget still at the novice stage. The best prospect we have had since PC and Mort. It takes two teams to make a good race meeting Kasprzak really being the only one to fit the bill, he rode really well. I thought Rye looked a bit iffy pre srason, Bomber and Scotty are past their best, can see a lot of heavy away defeats unless there are changes. Tungate was better and Etheridge did his job, we will be able to judge their progression better against stronger opposition. -

At Least a 10 point win for the Wolves I would imagine, Thorssell and Howarth have started the season really well and solid back up should see them home easily enough. -
No guarantee Hougaard would hit the ground running as Stevie had done either, add to the fact Stevie has always been much better away from home and Paddy does not fit the bill, Steve has far more potencial, Hougaard has stood still the past few seasons.
-
No doubt like the 3 Kurtz scored at home against Swindon shows where he is?
-
Well that put to bed the nonsense that r/r for Stevie hadn,t weakened us, Stevie would have been in double figures considering how he was going, Tungate as I expected was a passenger, and Gappmaier did nothing. If I was a Poole fan id be gutted, should have taken us to the cleaners, I'm just happy to have won the meeting with a vastly under strength team.
-
A great rider who brought professionalism to speedway, he was way ahead of his time, I feel so lucky to be able to say I saw him in his prime, a true legend. If the GP system had been about in Ivans day he would have had numerous more world titles as his consistency was unbelievable. Rip Ivan and condolences to the family.

I travelled down overnight and came through some very heavy rain. As i got closer to where im staying in Bournemouth it was drying out pretty well. Bit cloudy but plenty of blue in the sky, so its the train to poole to sample some of the good real ale watering holes then at last speedway. Immeterial to the score lets hope for some good racing. Seems we brought that Manchester sun with us
-
You now are realistically looking at Woffinden, Cook, Lambert I think
-
Im coming down for this one so hope the forecast remains good. Last season i was confident whenever we were on our travels, the named team this season leaves me less confident. The GP could have a negative impact on cookies league form if he struggles, similarly with his form in Poland, hes started the season slowly. Tungate i must admit to not being a big fan of, he really needs to step up his away form. Losing Stevie is a huge blow hes started in tremendous form replacing him on his current average will not be easy. Fricke has not shown his best round Wimborne Road so far, he could be about to. Bewley is no doubt a potentially superb prospect but is still little more than a novice, certainly cant heap too much on to his shoulders just yet. Starke will certainly be better than Drozdz and id be suprised if Etheridge did a great deal more than Smith. So for me a comfy home win. I just hope for some good racing. And that depends on winning the tactical battle with Highways England on circumnavigating the multitude of road works/closures. Lol

Agree with this, my worry is how a poor GP and struggling in the Polish league could affect his BV form, i thought his signing to be more of a gamble this season.
