A good meeting with some excellent racing, we could have pulled this back and can point to a couple of instances like Covatti beating Tungate and Lawson nicking 2nd in heat 14 but the tie is run over 30 heats and yet again we failed in the away leg. Congratulations to Somerset you cant take anything away from them. As for the obsession with crowd sizes if we were still at Kirky Lane it would probably look a decent crowd, in the wide open spaces of the NSS it looks poor. Monday should be far better and next season get away from Monday nights and i think that will result in an increase.

I said I thought the Rebels would come up short over the two legs but was expecting them to at least take a 6 to 8 point lead into the second leg, never been a fan of Lawson, tonight showed why, a big disappointment on his home track, not great returns from Holder or Allen either. It was a good meeting with some good racing, especially Doyle. Riders were saying it was a bit slicker than usual, did that catch the home side out a bit? Taking the home leg first was a bit of a gamble and it didn't pay off, I can see a comfy home win for Poole in the second leg.

The hypocrisy is staggering, and no BV didn't sack Riss, Some real saddos on the south coast.
-
No but you never give it credit and that speaks volumes the truth certainly hurts when it comes to the NSS and especially if you are called starman
-
The truth being the NSS is by far the best track in this country and is fast becoming one of the best in the world. Fact. Such bitterness. We had a legendary circuit at Hyde Road and then had to spend 20+ seasons at Kirky Lane so we have experienced both ends of the scale.

Malcolm Simmons was a great stylish rider who also wasn't afraid to tell it as it was, really used to look forward to seeing Simmo race.

Playoff Semi Finals 2018

People can go into the south stand for £7 less but I understand where you are coming from as there are people who cannot stand for that long. Also a new stadium has extra running costs. At the outset of the GP,s I said it would have a negative impact on league speedway and I think it has, weekend speedway wiped out, the loss of all the top riders, and the watering down of the domestic product. We always ran on a Saturday for example along with the likes of Cradley, Coventry, Swindon, Kings Lynn sadly two of those have fallen by the wayside. Then we have fixed race nights which impacted on our crowds and caused Rye House to go under, Poole were lucky in that respect as you kept your regular race night, look at Swindons Monday crowds, Somerset seem to have managed ok but I think that's more to do with the M5 being easier to navigate mid week. All promoters are in the last chance saloon and this close season really have to get it right if the sport is to stand any chance in the future, Going off previous BSPA conferences im not holding my breath. -

You don't have to even go that far back to note the alarming drop in attendances, play off finals are considered crowd pullers but even those are not great with non league games regularly pulling in more for mid season games. Well the carrot we dangled was a superb race track if that dosent work that's it I would say wouldn't you? -

So United only pull in around 30,000 from the Manchester area? Ridiculous -

Also we have non league clubs around here that consistently record higher attendances than any Premiership speedway club, lets face facts even what is considered a good crowd nowadays for a speedway meeting is bobbins, the sport nationwide is at rock bottom. -

But only with an 11,000 capacity which rather limits attendances when compared to nearly 80,000 at OT -
Totally garbage meeting the only talk being about the ludicrous decision to exclude Woffinden by a corrupt ref. But what goes round comes round and I think this could fire Woffinden up in the remaining rounds. I wouldn't go to this track if it was all expenses paid, surely its got to be dropped from the GP calendar?

Belle Vue v Somerset PL 5th September, 2018

I suppose someone had to try to discredit the Heat 13 action from the other night, anyway its a far cry from the criticism that we constantly got at Kirky Lane, justified in the main but still became tedious. -

First thing i thought on entering the stadium was the track looks in great shape. As you say its no wonder the racing was very good. If all tracks provided good track conditions the riders would produce, then promoters might see an increase on the terraces. Last night underlined how entertaining this sport can be given the right conditions. -

I enjoyed that a good meeting with some very good racing. Was looking a bit ominous for the Comets early on with Klindt Barker and Proctor not looking on the pace. Rasmus Jensen was superb with his heat 6 win a great ride. Wells Riss and Worrall very good for Monarchs along with Pickering who put in some good efferts. Heat 15 was shaping up to be a cracker until the fall, hope the lads ok. Thought they would have re run it as it was only the second lap. But well done to the Comets for the win and the Monarchs for making it such a good meeting. -

Coming up for this one should be a good meeting, big downside is what happened to Dan hopefully he makes a rapid recovery and comes back stronger than ever next season, the most naturally gifted rider ive seen at BV since the days of PC and Mort. -

Riss brought in for the away meetings and so far doing a far better job than Etheridge at Monmore. -
