Wembley Gp Event
sjw ministerofport replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree with Mr Shovlar. What makes me sick, is that Wembley was kept in the black for years by speedway. -

More To The Point
sjw ministerofport replied to barrow boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think the BSI is doing just fine, especially as they are now introducing a qualifying system. Last years formula for me was the better of the GP systems, how ever I do still love the idea of the old system over twenty heats. Changing systems every year is not good policy, but it does show that they are trying to give the best standard they can. And also that they do listen to criticism. Just for something to do, I have put a different system down for criticism. Problems Point’s gap Prize money No mention of individual GP’s won (why not give individual a title, i.e. win at Cardiff British Champion.) Old one day system the best. The first twenty heats of a GP are as standard, with the points awarded as they are now. The top eight riders then go forward to the semi finals. These riders contest for the title of champion of Britain. The first place rider gets say 100,000 euros. No extra points are awarded for the semi finalists or the finalists. By finishing in the top eight, their positions count towards the last GP, which is raced over the old twenty heat system. To get to the final, riders need to reach the semi finals or finals as often as they can. For the last GP all the top sixteen riders take place, if there are not enough riders with semi or final places, the individual points come into the selection. Pluses for this. I’m sure that the last GP would be a sell out in even the biggest stadium. The suspense would go right down to the last meeting. Riders would be introduced at every track as Champion of say Britain. A rider could win 1,000,000 euros in one series. The prize money may be un- realistic, I don’t know. -
Bydgoszcz Tickets

Thanks for the info on the time changes of the Ryan Air flight. We are going out Thursday and back Monday. I just hope now that there are no delays. Is anyone stopping at the City hotel this year? -
I can remember one of the world finals at Wembley we went to, there was a bomb scare. It was announced that we could leave if we wanted to, but to do so calmly. It was at a time of high security, the ira were bombing England. Everyone had been searched on the way into the stadium, and strict security had been in force on the stadium for many weeks. I could not see anyone trying to leave, and it made me feel good to know that it was one hoax that was ignored.

Hi Shaggie, Wroclaw is great place and the main square is wonderful. Last year we went on a boat trip along the river which was good, visited the catherdral which is spectacular. We love the place, its great to sit out in the sunshine in the square and drink good cheap beer, and everyone seems friendly. -

Gp Reserves
sjw ministerofport replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In years to come the actions of nominating riders to fight for the World Championship will be judged by the history books. Every rider deserves a chance to qualify for the ultimate prize, every track should run a number of qualifying rounds like they did in the past, but would people bother to turn up to watch these meetings as they used to, i wonder when some fans say that running individual meetings are pointless. As for the BSI they have pushed the GP series and the World Cup to heights only dreamed of a few years ago. They need to have large crowds and make decent returns to continue to support speedway. I for one love the GPs for what they are, however nothing can compare to a one off championship meeting at Wembley like we used to have. And our wonderful sport that more or less paid for Wembley stadium was kicked out not wanted by the football asscoation. As for who rides in 2006 i just hope that they all give their very best and reward the fans as they should because following the GP series is not a cheap passtime. Sorry for the spelling and grammer, just starting my second bottle of good red wine so don't be to harsh. -
