  1. Last week in November? Is Flint coming back? I’ll be surprised if he is and I don’t mean pleasantly. With all due respect, to compete for trophies, you rely on one or two big improvements and in 2024, Glasgow were likely looking at Flint and Pearson for that. Sadly, they didn’t and Flint’s final centre green interview highlighted that even he would be surprised by a return. Having said that, if he’s wearing a red and white race suit in April, he’ll have my backing.
  2. Hound? What an overreaction. Foord’s erratic racing style is fantastic for the sport; it’s a talking point. His attitude after the crashes at Poole, while questionable, was entertaining. People love to hate characters like Foord and it’s an essential aspect of competitive sport. The poster who created this topic evidently did so, tongue-in-cheek. For you to then raise the subject of mental health is utterly mind-numbing. Give yourself a shake.
  3. 😂😂😂 He’s wild, but he’s young and with experience will come improvement. I wouldn’t be surprised if his conduct during the Oxford meeting at Wimborne Road played a part in Poole allowing him to join Workington. Don’t get me wrong, it was great for the BSN cameras, but I wonder what the likes of Richard Lawson - a model professional - was thinking when his eighteen year-old apprentice team mate and his mechanic (the tattoo chav) were gesturing towards the Oxford fans.
  4. That’s a very good signing for Workington. Lots of potential. I’m surprised Poole didn’t keep him.
  5. That statement from Cook is in such bad taste. ”I wish the Comets all the best for 2025”, having just brought their moral compass into question by accusing them of going back on their word. I love Craig Cook, the rider. However, Craig Cook, the person, desperately needs to distance himself from childish finger-pointing on social media and if I’m honest, drama in general. Time to grow-up before it’s too late.
  6. My mistake. As I said, I hoped that I’d be corrected and I was. I’m pleased to hear David’s doing well. I didn’t/don’t know him personally, but he came across as a lovely young man when interviewed and evidently gave his all on the track. In a topic of inevitable sadness, it’s pleasing to hear he’s not only doing well, but is thriving.
  7. He’s in a wheelchair and has been since around 2007, as far as I’m aware. I wasn’t at the meeting, so this is second hand information, but I’m told Phil Morris took him out so badly, he was subsequently disqualified from the meeting. I’m happy to be corrected and in all honesty, hope I am.
  8. The first loss I recall is David Nix (Apologies if I’ve got the name wrong) in the early 00s at King’s Lynn. I remember reading about it in the Speedway Star and becoming acutely aware how dangerous the sport was. Lee Richardson was also a shock. I had drifted away from the sport by then, but Lee I was saddened by the news of his passing. Former riders like Lawrence Hare, Neil Hewitt, David McAllan, Garry Stead, Darcy Ward, etc. gave their livelihood for our entertainment. I hope their combative and competitive mindsets that brought them to the sport have aided them in their new ways of life.
  9. His height suggests to me he’s owned by Willy Wonka on an Oompa Loompa contract.
  10. I liked Pearson, but he’s no loss. Any rider who falls from the first team to reserve at the expense of - with all due respect - Jack Smith, can’t look back too fondly on the season. If we sign Ashton Boughen, I’ll passionately throw my fist in the air in celebration. Even if I’m at a funeral.
  11. Quality racing has compensated for a disappointing season at Ashfield in 2024. Heats thirteen and fifteen this evening were of the absolute highest standard and wouldn’t have looked out of place in Riga last night. Absolutely remarkable that Ashton Boughen only turned seventeen around two or three weeks ago. World champion material. Hopefully Glasgow begin planning for 2025 quickly. I know the points limit is TBC, but retaining Harris isn’t just critical; it’s essential. Regarding the other eight riders (including Starke and Pijper), I wouldn’t be disappointed to see them move on. Pearson, I’d entertain the return of at a push, but the rest have flattered to deceive, big time. Looking forward to the play-offs on BSN, but gutted I’ll have no vested interest. Last season was incredible.
  12. What’s the deal with Jack Holder? I’ve saw a couple of comments enjoying his struggles. Is he an arse?
  13. Definitely. I hope my post didn’t seem in any way critical; he comes across incredibly well and was the only one to credit his opponents. His accent is interesting though.
  14. Where’s Bewley’s accent from? Is he born-and-bred in the UK? It’s a strange accent. Almost like he’s bilingual. Classy interview nonetheless, crediting Lindgren and Zmarzlik.
  15. From that horrific crash in his first heat to top of the podium. I suppose that’s why he’s world champion, isn’t it? The way Kelvin Tatum was going on, you’d have thought he was rock bottom of the standings. His frequent references to difficulties and testing times had me wondering.
  16. That’s the difference between class and world class. Lindgren and Zmarzlik have had largely unspectacular evenings while Lebedevs and Lambart have arguably been the stars of the show. Yet, when it matters, it’s the Swede and the Pole who do the business. Lebedevs and Lambert must be spewing in the pits.
  17. That’s remarkable from Lambert. No idea what happened at the start, but that’s a tremendous heat of speedway.
  18. Glad to see Holder and Madsen back in their feet. That was a horrific looking crash. A nightmare evening for Holder.
  19. Best regards to Michelsen. That was a horrible crash. I can’t agree or disagree with the referee’s decision to exclude the Dane and retain Zmarzlik; it was such a close one and there’s an argument to be made for both parties. Robert Lambert, by the way. Wow. I’ve only recently returned to watching speedway. Is Lambert regarded higher than Bewley? Who is considered the stronger of the two? Not really sure why, but I thought Bewley.
  20. Really? Strange. He looks so far off it, it’s incredible. At Ashfield against Redcar, he was two or three bike lengths behind the other three riders before they’d even reached the first bend on at least two occasions. Even entering the bends during races, there’s no intent from him.
  21. A 15-point maximum away from home at the track of the reigning CLRC winner at less than two weeks older than 17 years-old to book his side a place in the KO Cup final is remarkable. He wasn’t great on the two occasions I saw him at Ashfield last season, but you could tell he was special. I’ve never saw a 16 year-old with such style or enter a bend so emphatically. Future world champion material, in my opinion.
  22. Congratulations to the Monarchs on a well deserved win, but from a Glasgow perspective, more frustrating disappointment. Chris Harris must be the most frustrated of all. His individual input to the team has been remarkable; he deserves to the in the play-offs. Three paid four from Smith, Pearson and Perry’s ten rides is absolutely woeful. You’re never winning speedway matches with three contributions like that. Yet, the most underwhelming was Ivacic, again. This is reigning Slovenian national champion; a vastly experienced professional who participated with credit in this season’s Speedway of Nations. How on earth is this man only scoring six points across five rides from reserve? I could take or leave Cami Brown, but he was absolutely correct in expediting Max Perry’s three rides because Ivacic at reserve should have been printing points, but yet again, he let Glasgow down, badly. As I said elsewhere, after factoring in visas, flights, work permits, accommodation, transport, etc., he’ll go down as one of the worst signings in the history of Glasgow speedway.
