  1. As Martin Luther King once said; ”Wimborne Road? Not for me, mate. I call it the oval sleeping tablet”.
  2. There’s more chance of Long Eaton finishing in the top four than Plymouth.
  3. Are speedway attendances released? I heard your cleaning staff are still finding our empty bottles of champagne at Wimborne Road from when we swaggered down to Dorset fourteen months ago, won the league and paraded the trophy around your stadium.
  4. No doubt Juul and Wolbert were rubbish, but Leverington was woeful. I had left the country for work when he returned, but Trent Leverington - as a new signing which is what my original comment referred to - was dreadful beyond comprehension. A quick Google and in the Spring Trophy, he scored a grand total of 1 point at Ashfield and 1 point at Armadale; both points coming because someone else retired and was excluded. Yet, he still wasn’t as disappointing as Ivacic. Lee Complin was a retained rider, not a new signing, who failed a drug test; nothing to do with on-track performance.
  5. Panic stations at Wimborne Road since Glasgow announced their line-up.
  6. He was the very first rider I thought of as soon as I saw this topic. There are leg trailers like Joe Screen, exaggerated positioning like Armando Castagna and smooth sailors like Bjarne Pedersen, but nothing on this earth comes close to Rob Grant’s style. It was so bizarre, I wouldn’t even know how to describe it. Can anyone find a picture? I can’t.
  7. Was he? I didn’t think so. Actually, I’ll go even further and say that he often withdrew from competing for the first bend; pulling the clutch and putting his left foot on the ground before hitting turn one. We’ve had some terrible signings over the years, from Dalle Anderson to Trent Leverington, but few have been as abysmal as Ivacic. He arrived as the Slovenian or Slovakian champion, but ended up at reserve. Factor in the costs associated with mobilising him, his work permit, etc. An absolute disaster of a signing. Genuinely dreadful.
  8. I was exaggerating for effect, not looking for a letdown competition.
  9. I can only assume you didn’t see any Glasgow meetings last season, or you’ve suffered a serious brain injury. The word ”woeful” doesn’t even cut it. The biggest letdown in the history of Glasgow speedway.
  10. We’ll win the league, then Poole, Redcar and Workington will finish in the remaining play-off spots. Harris will win the CLRC and Harris and Dan Thompson will win the Pairs. I imagine Plymouth will finish last.
  11. I suggest you look up the definition of ‘sarcasm’ because that certainly wasn’t an example of it. Where have you got the impression that Glasgow are pinning their hopes on two reserves? The hope is being pinned on the strongest top five, in actual fact.
  12. What on earth are you talking about? I provided two examples which demonstrated Hodder’s potential. That is what Glasgow have invested in; potential. How you’ve came to the conclusion that this means he’s in any way ”mugging off” Berwick is beyond me.
  13. Freddie Hodder won the Stars of Tomorrow competition in September, ahead of competition from the likes of Connor Coles, Jake Mulford, Jody Scott and Acr Pijper. The same Freddie Hodder scored 6+2 while guesting for us at home to Oxford at the tail end of last season. Our top five will throw every single other team in the league around like a wet towel, but make no mistake: the acquisition of Freddie Hodder is a strategic, planned piece of business. The exaggerated focus on our reserves is an attempt to persuade themselves, not us, that everything will be okay.
  14. Rowe’s a decent signing for Poole. If you look at his numbers, he did very well for us last season. He definitely found it easier riding at three than five, but his input in the latter parts of the meeting were an improvement on Worrall, I felt. Depending on what Ford and Middleditch spend the remaining points on, you’re guaranteed a play-off spot with this side. Which Lewis Kerr turns up will be a huge factor, in my opinion.
  15. When a fan of the league champions feels the need to dissect your line-up, one by one and in detail, in his own team’s topic, then you know you’ve got them on toast.
  16. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t. Where has that observation come from? Flint essentially operated as our second heat leader for the majority of last season. This coming season, he’ll start as our fourth rider and even at that, he could easily become our fifth rider… and still have had a good season. I honestly fear for other sides next season. Glasgow have put together one hell of a side.
  17. You’re entitled to your opinion, but we’re going win the league and if you can keep up, we’ll do it again at Wimborne Road.
  18. Over 24 hours since the last post in here. Is everyone okay? Sorry if our world class line-up announcement in the form of a Hollywood picture has ruined your weekend.
  19. Delighted with that team. Statistically the two most improved riders in the Championship last season in Boughen and Thompson. I don’t rate Flint, but he has a second chance here and with one season under his belt, will hopefully kick-on. Hodder’s 6+2 from four while guesting in the last home fixture of the season speaks volumes for his potential. Nothing needs to be said about Harris. We’re favourites for this league title. It’s coming home.
  20. I’ve just phoned Ashfield and Josh Pickering answered. Make of that what you will.
  21. If that is the reserve pairing, then I’ll be happy because I think Hodder has a lot of potential. His 6+2 from four rides at reserve while guesting in the final home meeting of last season emphasises that. As such, the second reserve - whether that’s Max Perry or Michael Max - can be carried and afforded time to develop.
