  1. Yeah as has been said previously Armadale is actually a good bit out of Edinburgh if you are driving up and just looking for nearest place to stay then Bathgate would be best bet as only a £5 or £6 taxi from there to the stadium and there are a few pubs restaurants etc there If staying in Edinburgh itself then as said there is a supporters bus that runs from the city centre and returns leaving 15 minutes after heat 15. Although with social distancing etc I’m unsure exactly on the situation with that this year There is public transport from Edinburgh to Armadale best bets being the train from Waverley or Haymarket stations to bathgate station then a taxi or the x18 bus which runs from city centre to right outside the stadium, this would prob take about 45mins to an hour last bus back to Edinburgh at around 22.05 details here https://www.lothianbuses.com/our-services/lothian-country/ one thing just to watch out for a little is I would have a little look at timetables etc as currently a lot of public transport is finishing earlier and not sure if these will be back to normal by 21st May as Scotland’s restrictions are a little different to down south any questions just give me a shout
  2. What The Fork Monarchs are proud to introduce a speedway-world first on-demand subscription-based video service. Welcome to EMTV+. Thanks to the thoroughly committed efforts over many years of Mike Hunter and the Edinburgh Speedway Videos team, What The Fork Monarchs possess an unparalleled selection of match footage stretching back through many decades. This enabled the popular EMTV:Rewind series last summer which gave inspiration to the new EMTV+ service. The archive has now been opened up and supporters can enjoy a curated range of matches on Monarchs very own on-demand video subscription service - EMTV+. For just £4.99 per month, fans can enjoy over 100 hours of quality footage including many classic matches featuring some of the best riders to grace the shale. The new service operates in the same vein as popular subscription services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ allowing subscribers to browse a wide selection of speedway content. New seasons will be regularly added with the service carrying at least 4 full seasons at all times on a rotational basis. Right now, you can enjoy the 1987, 1991, 2006 and 2008 seasons. You can enjoy classic Powderhall and Armadale action, including Monarchs second ever League title winning season! All content can be cast from your device to your television, subject to compatibility, so you can enjoy all of the action on your own big screen. Join EMTV+ now, sit back, and enjoy the show! https://www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/emtv/subscribe
  3. Did the question of if he qualifys for a work permit ever get answered?
  4. And if 2 riders are missing? For me guests are a necessary evil, what I would like reintroduced is the rule where you only get a guest up to a riders home average for home meetings and away average for away meetings that way there is no benefit to a team when a home track specialist is missing when they ride away.
  5. BWD, Lasse Bjerre, Dmitri Berge, Thomas Jonasson (I know there are commitment issues there) 4 off the top of my head throw in riders who potentially could double up/down as averages allow such as Bewley, Lidsey, Porsing, Tungate, Anderson, Jensen, Musielak obviously not all of these riders are available but it only needs a couple to be and it’s problem solved really
  6. For me there is zero reason whatsoever for the points limit to be reduced, the 2 arguments for it seem to be 1 - rider availability 2 - cost cutting both of these are absolute nonsense, there are riders available to fill slots left by riders not returning and if the issue is lack of heat leaders then instead of having a 9 point man and a 3 point man sign 2 5.5/6 point man there seems to be an abundance of these. cost cutting is the biggest fallacy of proponents of reducing the average as simple economics is cost is dictated by supply and demand all you do in that instance is move the demand to lower average riders who in turn increase their demands. I remember the year that 2 British reserves were dictated below a certain average the Monarchs approached a few and were keen to sign one who then promptly demanded a ridiculous signing on fee and other perks that would have made his package on a par with Craig Cook all this for a guy who has never turned a wheel at Championship level (and now I think might be out the sport) The limit should stay at 41 points and if we have teams that can’t build to that and aren’t competitive then that’s on them. Why is there always this constant rush in speedway to lower standards to that of the worst rather than raise them to that of the best?

  14. There are ways round that though, for example the Edinburgh stream that was due to launch this year had a geographical block on it so it was only available if you were a certain distance away from the stadium so as not to discourage the normally attending fans. I don’t think streaming is going to revolutionize the sport but where it can help is in the shortcomings of fans through the gate. Away fans apart from the odd local derby are all but non existent now and that is a market that can be tapped. Using say Somerset as an example, realistically for a normal league match they would probably have 10 fans or so in attendance at Armadale. Now if the match is available for them to stream at say £10 you may lose the 10 fans that would attend but if that is made up by 50/60 somerset fans buying the stream plus another 10/20 neutrals that might just fancy it then you have increased income probably by about £500 multiply that by 20-25 home matches and it could be another £10k+ plus in the club coffers
  15. Difference being Premier Sports buy a ready made tv production off the shelf then just have Dave doing commentary so there production costs are peanuts. Compare that to the cost of setting up Foxhall for a one off event add to that hosting costs etc online and I’d suggest that at £13 the break even point for this will be fairly high and it’s very unlikely the BSPA will be making much if any profit at all A more realistic comparison would be the cost of other sporting events to stream such as Ice Hockey at £10-£15 a match, Football (£10-£20 a match for Scottish Premiership) are all in the same ballpark

  21. hi Iain As one of the two hosts of Talk Speedway thanks for listening we have great fun doing them and I’d agree that some of the nefarious stories and goings on behind the scenes the guests tell us about you almost wouldn’t believe haha From an audio point of view I’m not aware of any others, video wise there is the speedway tavern and the speedway chat show on Facebook For me as a speedway fan it’s been a small positive to come out of the current situation the amount of content being created. Especially as an avid podcast listener as well I’m really enjoying having speedway content to listen to as well as produce.
