Last season it was 8 championship matches regardless of home or away
-
Unless the rules have changed (and they may have) I think Marcin would need to complete 4 meetings to get a new average last years rule book stated 8 fixtures were needed at Championship level for a new average Marcin only did 4 league matches in 2021
-
I would say if anything it’s actually the other way though as every match matters more when you only have 16 to qualify for the playoffs rather than 32. With 32 matches a team could know it’s as good as in the playoffs 22 matches in and ride to a minimum effort the last 10 (your 4 in the playoffs was never confirmed as part of the 2h 2a it more than likely would still have been 6)
-
Averages are currently only on last 10 league matches anyway so whether there is 16, 32 or any other number it wouldn’t make a huge difference as it’s last 10 anyway
-
Not really, if the two teams can’t agree a fee or if Plymouth refused to sell it would just go to arbitration
-
That’s your opinion that they won’t come back I could just as easily say they all would and all of a sudden it’s problem solved. even if we forget that next question then why does there need to be a distinction?
-
Parity comes naturally in speedway from a points limit whether that be 30,40,50 every team builds to the same. If some teams can’t afford to build to a higher limit by bringing back top tier riders they can still do this by building stronger teams from riders already here. Is a team that was for argument sakes Masters, Bomber, Ellis, Pickering Morris, Lawson, Brennan, that comes in around 50 going to be prohibitively expensive? I’m going off topic massively here though, back to my original point why should the championship need to weaken?
-
Those aren’t punishing success though rather they are promoting parity, none of the sports mentioned force successful teams to be broken up so really that’s like comparing apples to oranges. The constant race to the bottom is what is killing speedway if one or two teams can afford to sign who they want and dominate for a few years then so be it. It’s up to the others to manage themselves better and stay competitive.
-
Very true I should I have split the list into top tier guys that might come back (Bewley, Lambert maybe a couple of others) then the other guys
-
While I agree the top guys more than likely aren’t going to come over there is a second tier of guys I wouldn’t have thought it would be to hard to attract some of especially with Swedens troubles. Guys like Jensen, Bjerre, Klindt, Holder, Bewley, Lidsey, NKI, Tungate, Bellego, Berge, Lahti, Huckenbeck, If only a couple of teams could put a team to that standard together then let them, speedway must be about the only sport that constantly punishes success and plays down to the lowest common denominator
-
Who would you say these riders are that ‘shouldn’t be performing in the championship’? The problem is how far the premiership has fallen the calibre of rider in the Championship now is no better than it was 10/15/20 years ago. The main difference then was the top level had world stars in every lineup. If there needs to be a clear line between the two divisions then why is it the championship that needs weakened rather than the premiership strengthened? Why don’t they raise the limit of the Prem to say something like 50 then teams that want to can build super strength teams with multiple gp stars that would show the difference. Constantly watering down the middle tier the most varied and competitive division in the country does no one any favours.

I was team manager for the Monarchs so was in the same manager briefing and that wasn’t my understanding of what the ref said I can’t say if there was any other communication prior to the semis Tbf as sadly I was picked up and in the bar by the start of heat 18 :-( -

The riders weren’t warned by the referee not to slow races down The referee did say as it was a pairs meeting that he expected team riding and that was ok but if riders took it to far and were dangerous or caused an accident then he would have to take a view on it -

Is that the equivalent of when a football player gets a red for a bad 2 footed tackle and then folk say ‘he’s not that kind of player’ when he clearly is cause he did it heat 15 last night I have no issue with that’s racing, heat 9 was dirty, deliberate and I’d say premeditated By all reports Ulle is the nicest guy in the world off the track, on it there’s a pretty long list of folk who would say he’s pretty quick to take it to far -

For me the heat 15 one was desperate rather than dangerous, Ulrich knew he needed to get to the front to get the Tigers a point, he also knew he had Josh up his tail so if he scrubbed his speed then he’d have been relegated to 3rd That being said the move was only ever gonna end one way and the video clearly shows him taking Paco’s leg. The heat 9 first and second bend with Kye was much worse and downright dirty. Ulrich knew exactly what he was doing and even looks over his shoulder mid corner so knows Kye is there. Ulrich is a rider who has a repetition as going over the line at times when the pressure is on and sadly that was the case again tonight definitely in the first incident maybe in the second -

That’s not what the scb regulations stated wording 012.4.1 InjuredRiderReplacement(IRR) Facility allows one certified injured rider (1-5 by MA) remaining programmed rides, including a ride in which he was unable to re-start but was not disqualified – FN. To be taken by other team members, including any guest riders, and subject to: - a) The injured rider not having completed 3 rides in total b) Only one position per team may be declared as IRR c) All riders with an MA below the injured rider may take one IRR ride each. d) Reserve can have more than one IRR ride e) IRR is not permitted in heat 15 f) A nomination once made cannot be changed So no rule was broken -

A bigger match for the Monarchs than for the Pirates this one, 2 home wins for the Monarchs against Poole then Plymouth next week should guarentee a playoff spot. Poole still racing for the top 2 and playoff bye though so will be looking to make it a hat trick of victories at Armadale. a rare delight that as it stands both teams will field their declared 1-7’s For those looking to stream the match the BSN are in town and your only option (unless a Monarchs season ticket holder or emtv subscriber) Fingers crossed the BSN have sorted the issues that blighted them last time they visited Armadale or everyone misses out. Another sad outcome is that anyone wanting to stream the Northern Junior League match that follows will not be able to do so live this will be available on demand from the Monarchs website on Saturday afternoon. -
Another big match for both teams as they look to make the playoffs, home victories the absolute minimum both will be looking for this weekend (return match is on Sunday) The Monarchs return to their full 1-7 for the first time since 13th May as both Lasse Fredriksen and James Sarjeant return from injury The Scorpions hand a debut to James Wright and Theo Pijper guests for Jake Allen 7.30pm tapes up with the match available to stream at edinburghmonarchs.co.uk for those that can’t make it along Monarchs - Masters, Fredriksen, Thomson, Castagna, Pickering, Hook, Sarjeant Scorpions - Douglas, Lambert, Palin, Wright, Pijper, Coles, Kennedy
