Edinburgh have the 29th May reserved for a potential home leg of BSN semi, 3rd July for KO Cup semi and 17th July for BSN final on their fixture list
so hopefully it is the weeks either side of that that are reserved for all teams progressing in cups, then those that don’t can rearrange any rain offs or other fixtures as required
2025 rulebook there was no minimum amount of matches that I can see but there was a deadline after 75% of a clubs matches.
There also used to be a rule that if you reintroduced a rider that was in your team the year before that didn’t start the year in your team this needed special dispensation but can’t see that in the rulebook now either (albeit it’s 120+ pages so might have missed it)
The harm is in how speedway presents itself
In a time where we have seen all of the work that has gone on to make the sport look more professional and modern in its presentation on tv etc how do you sell that to potential sponsors and media partners if they then go on the associations official social media and see this.
What large company would put their name to something as amateurish
If we accept stuff like this as ok then we are accepting that speedway is now an amateur colloquial sport that will never be taken seriously.
The trouble clubs have is that only the diehards want 2h2a the floating fan doesn’t actually care about this and in some cases see this as a negative.
I can’t remember the exact figure but from memory Edinburgh announced that back when it was 2h/2a the crowd for the second time a club visited was down something like 15% on average from the first.
The sad thing being most clubs now don’t have enough diehards to break even so if clubs are potentially losing money per match this being made up with sponsorship etc then less matches is a better financial model for clubs.
Can’t say I’m a massive fan of restricting team building beyond an overall limit but the one over 8 thing doesn’t really weaken the league or teams that much imo
This year only 2 teams started with 2 8+ riders these being Berwick and Redcar.
The name of the game has and always will be finding riders who can improve their average so restricting teams to 1 8+ rider doesn’t change that.
Don’t forget the (and this isn’t Tigers related really but just because it was them)
’Glasgow are the real champions as they finished top of the regular league table’
Complete one track line tonight if you don’t hit the dirt early and have the commitment to stay there you are going nowhere.
Sadly (and hopefully I’m wrong) I don’t think that Hodder/MPT crash will be the last
Dan has ridden 14 heats at Armadale this season and has 12 wins/paid wins and 2 second places good for a 11.43cma so while it may not weaken Glasgow depending on what Nicolai does there is no guest who strengthens them in regards Dan as even if Nicolai goes through the card, Dan may well have done the same.
Wood is a definite upgrade on Perry I’d say and as for Lambert/Nagal who knows as Nagal may have scored ten or none as an Armadale debutant
