Abysmal coverage. Whoever thought those camera angles were acceptable is a moron. No co-commentator either and the whole production came across as cheap and lazy.

SGP and SGP 2 qualifying round nominations
Chris replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
A pretty grim effort from the GB riders. Two years in a row now that no one has qualified for SGP2 on merit. There doesn't seem to be a lot coming through and can't see any of the current lot and Brennan making much of an impact at the top of the sport. -
Buster Chapman and Rob Godfrey, the pair of clowns in charge of the sport at the time, certainly played a significant part in the closures of both Rye and Arena.

9 weeks before the event and no tickets are on sale Complete shambles and disgraceful organisation. Who's responsible for this nonsense? The club or Discovery? -
Warsaw GP Saturday May 13th 2023
Chris replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Didn't see what the outrage was all about. 50/50 call for me. Zmarzlik had got ahead of Doyle Regarding out-of-control riders-Bewley knew he messed up. If he would have kept the throttle wound on he would have passed Lindgren. He got a bit spooked and knocked the throttle off killing his race. If you want to be world champion you don't knock the throttle off there. Zmarzlik, Lindgren or Doyle wouldn't. Keep it wound on or react quicker. Should come with experience. -

The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
Chris replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Who gives a toss? Any little credibility the sport had in this country completely disappeared when doubling up got out of control & both leagues are virtually the same riders. You could accept one rider doubling up in the top league for experience but it's a mess now. Look at the farcical situation with guests now as well & facilities handed out for riders who haven't even rode this season. If riders can't make one league pay then get a job. The credibility of the sport is more important than any riders income.- 189 replies

The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
Chris replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Look at the state of the last 3 chairmen of the BSPA and in charge of the sport in this country: Harkess, Chapman and Godfrey. Grim. -
So some spotty Herbert with a wankey job title can do away with nearly a hundred years of history. Shouldn't be allowed to happen. The sport really messed up in its heyday in the 70s and 80s by not purchasing or building its own stadiums. Promoters were happy filling a trunk full of cash and putting nothing back into the sport.

Ipswich v Belle Vue 13th April
Chris replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's not true. Wright was riding all sorts of lines in heat 10 with Brennan behind him and was doing it deliberately. It almost caused Brennan to lose 3rd to Hume as he had to go wide at one point to avoid Wright on bends 1/2. It was pretty poor and unnecessary behaviour as there was nothing that Brennan did wrong in heat 3. Wright wouldn't have reacted that way towards a seasoned or harder character either as he would have received something back. -

Not a great meeting. Most exciting part was watching Charles Wright racing Tom Brennan all night & have a pop at him after heat 3. Ipswich bottom end was awful. Rew's gating is terrible & Thompson is out of his depth. Hume as a senior reserve with Rew not looking comfortable around Foxhall spells trouble. King didn't help his side though in heat 12 after a surprise 5-1 in heat 11. Belle Vue steady & did what they had to do against a weakened side. Bewley well off the pace again. What's going on with him? Always nice when they close the A12 at 9pm & get imbeciles to put out the diversion signs. -
Glasgow v Edinburgh , Easter Sunday
Chris replied to Weeyin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Someone posted the incident on twitter. Clear as day what happened. Cook deliberately stuck his back wheel in Basso front wheel comibg out of turn 2 & had him off. Shocking piece of riding but then Cook doesn't seem right in the head anyway. Complete t0sser. -
World Cup - Wroclaw July 2023
Chris replied to Monarchs2468's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Another case of the sport not helping itself. An international event where tickets won't potentially be available just 12/13 weeks out from the event. All so the local club can give first dibs to season ticket holders. Wouldn't happen in any credible international tournament in other sports. -
Nonsense. It's one of the worst aspects of the sport in this country & why it's not taken seriously. Poland won't go near guests as the league will lose all integrity. One rider missing from the top 5 & it should be R/R. Any missing reseve is replaced by a club junior.

Emil Sayfutdinov and Co bring in the crowds?
Chris replied to Phil's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Absolutely. Have only attended 2 domestic meetings since my club closed in 2018. The poor standard and the nonsense of riders riding for 2 teams of basically the same standard have put me off. Ipswich is 70-odd miles from me so will attend a few matches this season just to see Emil. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. I do worry about British Speedway messing it up as usual though and demonstrating a lack of professionalism like last night at Peterborough with the floodlights and moving the white line. Riders like Emil and Nicki will just bin it off if that happens along with people like me. -
He's the guardian at the moment. I suspect he has no interest or idea how to find P'boro a new home. He won't have the money or the people skills to deal with the council. The club then dies after this season if Chapman asks for silly money and won't sell. Idiot. Look at the state of KL where he runs a dump of a stadium and puts poor sides together year after year
-
Chapman needs to p1ss off out the club. Didn't he only buy it because the top league needed a certain amount of clubs when he was chairman? He did his job, now go. Tomalin seems to have the passion and money behind him to move the club forward. Chapman is a dinosaur and the club won't last long if he's in charge for much longer. Can you really see Chapman going to the council and fighting for the future of the club and putting ideas for a new stadium in front of them? How a bloke like this was in charge of the sport sums it up I'm afraid.

One of the most stupid posts Ive seen on this forum and that's saying something... It was the way he laid it down haha There is what looks like a floodlight pylon a few feet behind a bag of plastic bottles. The run off area is full of of objects. Incredibly dangerous. Did you not notice him hit a solid fence feet first and hear the impact. The lads lucky he can still walk How that track can be signed off by anyone as safe is crazy.

Russell has always been a bit of a wideboy. I imagine his interest in the sport fizzled out when his cut of Sky money stopped. Doubt he's even interested in reviving Swindon anymore. The worst out of all of this is Rossiter and Kilby. These are supposedly Swindon through and through and have backed the bullsh1t and lies for many years and even had a pop at the fans for questioning GI and the new stadium. Rosco sitting on bikes with plans and telling everyone it will happen was pathetic You could see it wasn't happening from a mile off but Rosco wouldn't have it. He's happy to get front and centre when a trophy is being lifted but he has been very quiet lately.

Some cracking racing second half of the meeting. Nothing wrong with the track and didn't cause any of the injuries. That safety fence doesn't look right at all. Zero give in it and Thomsen's bike flew 30 foot down the straight when it bounced off it. No wonder he ended up with a compound fracture going in feet first.
