Who Should Ride For The Uk In The Wtc?
Chris replied to bazaar3's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Some laughable suggestions. Oliver Allen? Come on. Competent reserve/low second string rider, but shouldn't even be mentioned even if Cov is his home track. Just a limited rider if honest. The Cov boys need to take their Cov specs off. Howes average is on the way down now and he won't get any "Karlsson corridors" at Cov or Leszno I'm afraid. The guy just isn't upto be international class. Has been proved all ready in his career. Hopefully can keep up his form though. Why are people mentioning riders like Norris and Screen? Whats the point of them using them? They aren't top riders anymore and are the wrong side of thirty. A complete no brainer picking those two. A waste of a squad place. By all means get them in the pits though. Are they better than Nicholls, Harris, Stead, sicknote and Ed? No. Nail ons are Nicholls and Harris along with Stead and Richardson in all probability. The side should be picked by Middlo by now anyway. After watching Ed these past few weeks he has realised he has got a special rider on his hands. The lad is oozing class at the moment and has rattled up the scores in the last month. As Middlo has said, Ed has it all. Middlo is a big fan of Ed and can see the ability in him. Yes he hasn't set the world alight at Cov before, but he has only ridden there in about two/three competitive meetings and anyway he is a different rider now. He had never seen Bydgoszcz before, but beat Andreas Jonsson around there. Go and ask the Poole fans and riders like Crump, Pedersen and Boyce if they rate Ed and whether they would pick him? To be honest if this discussion took place in a months time then there wouldn't be a debate needed over Ed's team place. We won't win the thing anyway, but we may as well give our brightest prospect for some time on the world stage, the experience of a world cup and anyway by the time the SWC comes around his form will make sure he gets a place. -

Some good young talent in Sayfutdinov and Ivanov and will be interesting what the Poles can do at Rye! Tressarieu is good round Rye. Looks very competitive and should get some good racing. -

Sour grapes from Sheffield. Your team should have performed sufficiently and then no problem. It's your own fault. Just proves that Sheffield are an also ran in the PL these days. No recent success and other clubs have become bigger and better. -

This competition doesn't interest you. You have no reason to come into this thread. -
Unlikely as Hancock finished third behind Ed and Jonsson(unless it was a poor piece of team riding). Claiming the scalp of Jonsson around Bydgoszcz on his first visit to the track is commendable knowing how good Jonsson is around there. From my limited Polish the Czestochowa fans seem very pleased with him. He needs more time to develop on the big tracks, but his start in Poland bodes well for the future. Will the Polsat Sport coverage be on the net anywhere?

1.Steve Boxall(Rye) 2.Jim Bowen(Rye) 3.Adam Roynon(Rye) 4th was some Dane. Oakes will be pleased with another love child through. He must have been surprised SteveB qualified against that quality of line up though. -
So in that case Bryn why wasn't Steve Boxall selected? As you have all the answers it would be good of you to answer.

Typical Burza. May as well not bother when he misses the gate. He hasn't got a clue when behind. -

Go and look at my post in the CL section on Stone in the Mavericks thread. If he has to rely on 3 meetings all year for his money then he is not doing his job properly. His club is a mess and he has no right whatsoever to have a guaranteed meeting on the Friday before Cardiff. Perhaps he will now go and promote his club and get it into some sort of shape now he has had a pay day taken from him? Wouldn't bet on it mind. -

Think Edward and Lewis Bridger are in Poland for press commitments for Czestochowa for a few days, which is why Bridger couldn't have ridden. -
Any rumours about some of our youngsters like Kennett, King and Bridger getting rides in the Swedish Elite League this season?

Ace Of Herts @ Rye House

Fitting finale that Ed won in his last appearence in a rockets racesuit. Fully deserved after beating Davey 2-1 when they met and you could see Ed wanted it so he could sign off in style at Rye. Nice words from him afterwards in praising the club and saying how Rye and the fans would always hold a special place in his heart, although difficult to make out as he was quite emotional while speaking. Big crowd and must have been pushing 3,500. Not a bad meeting. Very professionally run and you can see why riders want to come and ride for Rye and why the crowds for the last few weeks of the season have been so big. Shows what can happen when a promoter goes out and promotes the sport. Perhaps some of the wallys in charge of the lower rung PL clubs can have a word with promoters like Len and the umpa lumpa at Lynn. Good to see Davey Watt return and Lanham was up there as usual, but provided abit more entertainment than he usually does to be fair. Bridger was dreadful out of the gate, but was giving it plenty and Tai was steady and on the pace. Auty looks as though he has fallen behind Tai somewhat and was poor on Saturday. He was beating Bridger regularly two years ago and has more experience than Tai, but hasn't shown anything at the higher level yet and looks as though the mentioned riders will both go on to better things. Be interesting to see where he ends up next season and how he performs. The raiders done ok and fair play to Bazza Burchatt in defeating Bridger and Rob Mear showed how much he has come on and will be the next one off the production line. Good end to a frustrating season of injury problems, but Len has made sure already that with luck on the injury front then we will be the team to beat again with the signings of Tai and Roynon. Good luck to Ed in his full time EL career. -
Ace Of Herts @ Rye House
Chris replied to darth raider's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Erm line up in the first post. Only 12 riders I'm afraid though. Spent the meeting budget on fireworks. Len runs a professional club and won't be calling any meeting off because he can't get riders ala Mildenhall and the sweaties. -
Ace Of Herts @ Rye House
Chris replied to darth raider's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Would like to know also why Len has rid of us of five heats and four riders? 12 riders and top 8 into two semis is mickey mouse and he has cocked up on this one. Suppose he has spent the meeting budget on some crappy firework display. Oh good. Len has devalued the meeting and he should give us the usual 16 rider 20 heat formula. For the same price as usual for the Ace of Herts we are getting 5 heats and 4 riders less. Cheers Len. And John Oliver? Would have preferred Topinka or Nermark than a PL reserve. -

When are the authorities going to learn when it comes to women referees? Is it going to take a serious accident like what nearly happened last night for them to learn? Sorry, but it will be to late by then. I'm sure the BSPA are only employing these women so they don't get aload of stick for not having equal opportunities, but everyone of them is inept at refereeing. I have witnessed all of them first hand make poor decisions and danger riders safety by putting the red lights on at the wrong time. Yes the males make mistakes, but not the sort that these women have made. The simple reason is that they panic when under pressure and don't allow themselves a bit of time to realise whats going on. This country and the BSPA need to stop pandering up to the PC brigade. Oh and nice to see two Aussies in our under 18 championship. The sport in this country really is run by clowns. It could only happen over here. I wonder what the youngsters at reserve and who were left out and their dads thought of the situation? Until our authorities stop making stupid decisions like this then Britain doesn't deserve to succeed on the world stage. What an absolute joke.
