U21 World Team Cup - British Team Selection
Chris replied to RPNY's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nothing wrong with track or venue. Silver just has to make sure he floods the track Saturday night/Sunday morning and gets lots of moisture into the base, so it lasts the 25 heats then the quality young riders on display will do the rest. -

Should be a cracker. Only meeting I've looked forward to attending at Rye for weeks. Some top young riders on display. The only worry with 25 heats is the track and if its sunny. Len isn't the best at keeping the track moist enough and if thats the case the track could go by half way and that would be a shame as it would be all about hitting the big blue groove meaning little racing. Vital he gets enough water in the surface throughout the day. Fancy the poles even though this is probably their worst sort of track, but will be slick, so they shouldn't have a problem. Think they would find it harder if it was grippy. GB should be in the mix. Woffinden knows the track like back of his hand and will score big in this company. Auty is quick at Rye, but can never get out of the gate, Bridger also quick round Rye, but needs to calm down and stay on the bike. Hughes is quick enough around Rye to beat any of the field if he gets fresh air, but he might feel the pressure and he is liable to poor rides. Haines confidence is shot, so whatever he picks up is a bonus. Hopefully has his gating boots on. Should be close between all teams. All look very evenly matched to me. -

Aye, but where the wild Fish is concerned its nae guarantee. It wouldn't surprise me if he threw the old "Danish lift" in to make sure anyone coming around the outside wasn't going to be given the room and if they did they would be taking their life in their own hands. Good to see a strong referee spot this sort of dangerous riding and chuck the mad man out. Its what you expect off of characters like him. What about that lovely picture of him last season screaming obsceneities at Havelock while he was laying on the floor with a broken back. And the sweaties wonder why most fans and probably riders can't stand the guy. -

You're a glutton for punishment Shadders! Was thinking about going, but when it was time to decide knocked it on the head. Sundstrom just looks knackered now. Has lost his edge and its not surprising with his schedule of riding in every major country. You can't be having the sort of schedule he has and it not take its toll. Kessler still at the club is just some sort of sick joke and him being there was a big reason in not bothering to travel. Why he hasn't been shipped out already just sums up Silver/Sampford. Len should have pulled the side out when Frampton got injured and he couldn't be arsed to sign a replacement the tight old codger. At least another side would have given it ago unlike our shower. -
Swc Final, Vojens, 31/07/2010
Chris replied to Mateusz's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
SWC week never disappoints. Cracking racing as usual. Lyon cocked up putting the joker on Harris off of two. Stead out of his depth as expected, but what a let down Nicholls was. Five thirds from him was pathetic and his trapping a joke. Looking at the other teams and ours we should have been battling up the top, not trying to scrape a medal. If that Danish team was able to push the Poles all the way, then we have underachieved again I'm afraid. -

Brits could be behind from very early on looking at the gate draws. -
An ok meeting, but Vojens shouldn't get any more race offs or finals. That crowd was absolutely pathetic for a race off with the home nation on view. An embarrassment that a fairly big meeting for the sport was watched by a handful of people. Lovely to see the Aussies faces at the end. Wonder what the precious, plastic Aussie made of it all?

Swc Event 2, King's Lynn, 26/7
Chris replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Only side Lyon could pick. None of the others can have any complaints. Bridger and Barker look out of control most of the time and Bridger can't even stay on his bike lately. Kennett has been sulking all season for some reason and looks as if he doesn't give an arse, so shouldn't be given a chance and King ain't good enough. The future looks grim. -
Any news on possible injuries to Linus yet?

The competition Shadders. The leagues top rider probably won't be at the Arena. World under 21 team cup on the 10th in Germany between Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Slovenia, so likely to be no Sundstrom, Wolbert, Bach and Kildemand. -
Ben Fund Meeting
Chris replied to colincooke's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Calm down dears. Some going way ott about the track. Yes dust in heat one, but no dust at all thereafter due to constant watering and grading. A touch more dirt would have been nice, but we all know what Len is like plus weather has been crap all winter. Main problem which was clear as usual was complete lack of atmosphere all due to Lens terrible presentation skills. The sound system is useless and should be ripped out and replaced. Crowd could heardly hear on a thing on bends 1 and 2 and waiting around in silence with no music is a complete no no. You can hardly hear the music at Rye anyway. Craig Saul very good as usual if he could be heard, but Bryn in the box was making everyone nod off. We're in 2010 and I'm afraid Announcers like Bryn and the presentation of the meeting yesterday belonged in the 70's. Not good enough and summed up when we had the trackstaff march out in silence when the music wouldn't play. Comical. Presentation of a meeting at Rye House is one area that has to be improved on dramatically. -
Was there mid season old girl. Unless they have stuck a new 2000 capacity stand on the backstraight then the NA with its lack of facilities should be nowhere near a meeting like this. As said earlier, nice work if you can get it Jonny.
-
Dear me. We'll be going from a top class spanking new stadium in Gorzow to the dump that is the NA. You couldn't make it up. Yes the Chipmunks have given it a lick of paint in the last couple of years, but its still not good. How they can be given a meeting of this standing with the facilities on offer is a joke. Is the backstraight still condemned? Couple of crappy stands on the home straight and a few sheds on bend four plus some raised terracing on bends 1/2. Forget watching elsewhere as you will be looking at a fence all night. Will they clean the royal box seats for this meeting as last season there was dirt and crap all over them? Chipmunks must surely have to bring in temp stands, but even so why do they deserve a meeting of this stature. Nothing wrong with the track as long as the Chipmunks don't f*ck it up like they have on a few occasions, but for a club owning the stadium and offering the facilities they will then its poor. Young Jonny looks to have got his feet firmly under the table at the BSPA. SWC meeting and the fours at the NA next season. Nice work if you can get it Jonny. Sort of sums the sport up in this country and why its not taken seriously when you go to holes like these places for supposed big meetings.

Kennett was . last night. Should be told unless he starts riding in Poland and pulls his finger out riding away from these shores then he doesn't deserve to be considered. His decision to not bother riding in Poland this season says it all. Has found a comfort zone and needs a kick up the backside. His kit is crap as well and may as well have been riding an old lawnmower last night. Has alot more ability than most, but doesn't help himself with his attitude.
-
Suggestion of team riding in the SWC gets bought up every year and always gets the same answer. The format was changed after the Aussies threw a race against the Swedes at Coventry in 2000 meaning Sweden got into a run off for 1st with GB where Rickardsson beat Loram. Can still picture the Adams/Crump pairing riding 4 laps with their left foot on the ground trying to slow down so as not to pass the Swedes. Race fixing would be alot easier if we had pairs. Nothing wrong with the format now.
-
Stupidity from Pedersen. Went for a gap that was never there and paid the consequences. Good meeting and well done to the Russians. Fancied the look of them before the start as if you know your stuff about world speedway you would see they have alot of good riders doing well around Europe. Could be even stronger in the final if they bring Artem Laguta in. Danes have no chance now. NKI and Bjarne P were poor and Klindt will struggle in Poland.
-
Tricky one. Nicholls omitted is no surprise, but the problem is Lyon has dumped Rico for a rider who will never be good enough in the future for this sort of experience to matter in King. Rico can't have alot of complaints though as I thought his two performances last year in the SWC were a disgrace. Him and Nicholls attitude were repulsive. Other three youngsters have the talent and time to make it so would have been a no brainer for them not to be in, but would have kept Rico in because there are no other young riders ready or good enough at the moment sadly.

Very good meeting. Excellent production from Sky. Track was set up nicely with plenty of water on so it lasted the full 22 heats. God knows where Harris got that gate from in the final. Kennett was excellent and looked the quickest on display. Came from behind when he had to as well. He needs to transform this form to the international stage now and he can go on to better things. He'll learn from Cardiff last year that he can't be so timid again and will have to ride the ruts and holes. What the hell has Lyon done already appointing Nicholls captain. He looks shot and shouldn't be in the team let alone named as captain. Cock up from Lyon. Good to see some passion about the meeting again.
