I put a post on the forum in November when pictures were put up of the track, saying it looked far too narrow into & out of the bends. Why no one realised and sought to rectify just screams of incompetence by all parties. Shambles.

Should snap up Rosen, talented young swede. Will involve Len putting hand in pocket & getting rid of Bunyan as well so no chance. The silly old codger has zero ambition & that's why his crowd has all disappeared.

Rye House V Somerset 12 April
Chris replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First visit in a year and same old crap. Team was built all wrong before the season started. Have had to laugh at some suggesting a play off berth. This team will finish bottom. Lambert was comical and him coming back shows the ambition of Silver. The guy simply has no idea how to ride the track. Garrity is riding Boxalls old lawn mowers and Bunyan and Tressarieu are only going to continue going downhill. They bring nothing to a side. Side built on the cheap as Silver has done for many a year now. Shown up for the fool he is by not using Aspgren. He'll put a point on his average easy. Side should have been built around Kennett, Mellgren, Aspgren and Boxall this season. You then fill in the rest with young hungry talent like Brady Kurtz. I'll bet a lot of money dear old Len has never heard of the lad, but that is the difference with a club with ambition like Somerset. They will have contacts around the world/country looking at young, talented riders, while Len is happy to pay peanuts employing dross like Lambert, Tressarieu and Bunyan. Lambert and one of Bunyan or Tressarieu need to go now and the points used wisely. Garrity needs to be told to pull his socks up as well as he doesn't look interested. -

Has Ward had his teeth done? -
Another mess from Silver and team is now weaker with Tressarieu in. Bottom half again written all over it. Kennett Aspgren Mellgren Garrity The four riders the whole side should have been built around. Had to get his favourite Bowen in though at reserve, which has messed up the team completely. The old boy has no ambition. Would also have thought what with being Nelson's sponsor he wouldn't let him go home with his visa about to run out meaning he couldn't apply for another for a year. He was a shoo in for this years side so not to sort his visa before he went home is a complete cock up.

You can't blame Middlo for dropping Cook last year. His performance at Lynn was dreadful. He started to late and will be another Barker, King, Howe etc. He'll do very well to get above the sort of level he is now.

Poole fans and Sidney showing themselves up to be idiots as usual. Tai was the best rider in the world by a long way last year. No rider was ahead of him when they got injured and no one had a better average points per meeting including Ward. Ward messed his season up by putting himself in the fence in Gothenburg after getting nothing from his first two rides. You can't be world champ doing silly things like that. Ward needs to show a lot more discipline in his riding and lifestyle if he is to challenge Woffinden in the next few years. Tai is a rider who uses his head. Darcy on many occasions doesn't. Ward needs to learn to gate as well as many a time he scored good points in the heats only to miss out in semi's and finals due to poor gating and slick tracks meaning he can't come from behind against world class riders at that stage. Any non Wally would put Woffinden as undoubted world no1. What with Tai's professionalism and dedication I fancy him to keep Ward, Holder etc well behind him in the coming years.

Klindt's bottle has gone. Not many speedway riders come back from losing that. Can't see him doing anything different from last couple of seasons.
-
Mellgren should have developed into a number one rider last season, but his scores weren't consistent enough. Would certainly have included him in the engine room of the side this season though & gone with a weaker bottom end.

As I thought, Machin asking very much for very little. He's only got a licence to sell. He has no rider assets and doesn't own the stadium. Anyone offering big bucks would be a fool what with having to purchase a £20k air fence. Machin clearly has no interest in running it so may as well take the price for his licence and disappear.

Same old rubbishe. Lower half of the table finish. Pretty much same as the last 5/6 years. Kennett-no problem with his signing. Should be very hard to beat around Rye. Away form will depend on attitude. His commitment to the sport isn't particularly high at the moment. Lots of ability, but mentally has always fell well short. Bunyan-meh. Doesn't offer a lot. Average will stay same or go down now he's getting on. Boxall- lots of ability, but has the mechanical expertise of a chimp. Has he got more than one lawn mower these days? Is he still wearing Newcastle kevlars from 3 years ago? Very unprofessional. Garrity and Nelson were no brainers. Bowen-truly depressing, but fully expected him to return. Has been riding about 10 years in PL and is still a reserve. Is he really a silvers secret love child? Lambert-Christ, I've never ridden a speedway bike in my life but would still look more comfortable round Rye than him. He was also crap on big tracks. Pointless and depressive signing. I would have gone with Kennett, Mellgren, Aspgren, Garrity, Nelson, Morley and one of the top NL 3 pointers from last season. Replace one of the reserves when Kennett gets his average. This side has very little going for it and is a usual silver side from the last few years. He certainly won't be getting his lost crowd back with that. Very much done on the cheap with no foreign based riders.

Another turd Cov side being built by the looks of it by Horton. A shame to see a club with a bit of enthusiasm to win things under Sandhu having to put up with Hortons awful sides.
-
"Plus we'll be using Luke Bowen who has been out for nearly two years. He's on a 5 point average, which we expect to drop considerably, but Luke is like a son to me and we have to get him in. It means we'll be even weaker, but I feel Jason Bunyan can prove his GP credentials and average well over ten this year" Silver concluded

Can't blame Frost. Has put his money where his mouth is, but Peterborough haven't got enough support to be an EL club or the opportunity for a regular race night to help in that respect. Would think Frost is fed up with continually weakening the product with silly notions like NL riders in the EL plus he's been crapped on a few times by the BSPA, so no surprise he's pulled out.

To late now. If he would have done it three/four years ago then yes, but he's lost his crowd now. When Rye were successful and putting decent sides together in the mid 2000's the average crowd would have been pushing 1200-1500 with some very decent crowds in the summer and for end of season meetings. Silver must have been making very decent money at the time what with getting the profits from food(the fish and chips were edible in those days) and drink. To be fair he signed some good riders like Watt, Woffinden, Kennett, King, Sundstrom, Robson, Roynon etc. stadium smartened up as well and was one of the better in the PL. Silver then started putting crap sides together and starting off with teams nowhere near the limit as he wanted to keep his favourites. Basically he started doing things on the cheap. Wouldn't drop any rider no matter how crap they were and his injury replacements were a joke. Fans got pissed off with his lack of ambition and attitude towards them. He's still very much stuck in the 60's/70's. It came to a head a couple of years ago when he dropped Jason Doyle for Steve Boxall who had about one lawn mower to ride on and was coming back after getting injured fighting with Tyson Nelson. Crowd gave him stick about the change when he was on the mic and he didn't like it. When he was walking back to the pits he turned round and basically told the fans to F off & shouted he'll do it "his way". Well his way has seem him lose about 600 off his gate in a few years and Rye finish down the bottom of the league for the last few years so it's not been very successful. The club could easily be an EL club if it had a Matt Ford/Rick Frost type in charge, but no way it will be a success under Silver now.

What's Machin selling? His licence and some worthless assets? Can't see him getting much dough.

Looks very narrow, hopefully the riders won't be queuing up to get into the bends as the racing will be awful. -
Same old crap, Bowen and Bunyan? Zzzzz. Neither of those have any improvement in them. Does Boxall have more than one lawn mower to race on now? Mellgren, Aspgren, Garrity and Nelson with a top number would be the way to go but it's Len, so he'll go with what he thinks and to hell with the points limit. Another bottom half finish with that rubbish on display.
-
Silly Ben, that's a shocking side. Obviously a fan who likes Rye continuing to finish amongst the dregs every season.
-
Newport and Rye have one major thing in common. Both were fed crap sides by their promoters and both sets of fans were treated like s"it on the bottom of their shoe by the promoters resulting in hundreds walking away. I wouldn't be so sure of Rye's continued existence if I was you.

Didn't you say the same thing two years ago Phil? Unless they rip the whole track up and open up the entry to the bends it won't get any better and will continue to bore everyone to tears. -
Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg
Chris replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Completely bottled by Swindon. Awful decision by Rosco to change the riding order as well and put kennett at 4. Howarth doing an agent Pedersen as well by the looks of things. Horrible result for the sport.
