RIP Len The second division title wins at Rye will live long in the Rye fans memories. Put his money in to get the club back to it's rightful home in 2000 and built a brilliant little set up with success in the 2000's and put some cracking sides together. A shame he lost his way towards the end of his time at Rye as he seemed to get more cantankerous as he got older and stopped investing in the team and stadium. Resulting in selling up to Warren Scott which was disastrous and has meant no speedway for the last 5 years and a huge battle on to return it to Hoddesdon.
-
Think I remember he put him through the fence after the race finished as Corbett beat him. Corbett never recovered from the wrist injury and hardly rode after that incident. Wilson always came across as thick as sh!t.
-
Didn't he stab Steve Boxall at a Rye House P+P day? Must have been around 10 years ago now. Garrity was in the team at the same time as well
-
Unfortunately, Len Silver decided to take the money and run with no thought of the outcome. Another who has to take responsibility for the unnecessary closure of the club. He stopped investing in the stadium towards the end of his time as well as running teams on the cheap. A shame as he put good teams together and created a nice little venue round 2004- 2008 I wouldn't have thought noise or local residents would be the main problem. The nearest houses are across the River Lea and speedway was still running when they were built so would have been aware of the stadium. The Rye House Group aren't in a good position with a demolition notice against them and planning denied for the area where the track was. They have spunked a lot of money for little return and are likely to have to rip out a lot of the building work out if they don't win their appeal. They must be in breach of their lease with the Lee Valley Park Authority as well. The arrogance and spite from them has bitten them in the backside.

Chris replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Must be on a wind up. Thought the racing was very good on one of the better temporary tracks. Woffinden may as well pack it in. Not interested if anyone gets close Bewley the same, but his track craft is diabolical as well. -
Last day to OBJECT to the retrospective planning application at Rye House Stadium. Click on the link below https://publicaccess.eastherts.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=S9ZI48GLFP200&activeTab=summary Lots going on in the background to get the track reinstated but public support is needed. Will take a couple of minutes.

Schroeck was a dreadful TM at Rye House -
Surprised no one's filled him in over the years with his behaviour

It's a nonsense article where the reporter has just looked at the planning portal on EHDC website and made a story from it. Crap journalism. He's added parts from the retrospective planning application from the Rye House Group and added a couple of fan comments from the public comments to try and make it seem fair. RHAG have serious allegations against EHDC and Lee Valley Park Authrority which need to be answered. Rye House Group are still trying to bullsh1t their way through all the mess they have created by saying it's now unsafe. Anyone with eyes can still see the area where the track was is clear. The Environmental Agency have put in an objection to the unlawful building though which could make things interesting. Yep. Was more worried about the £ signs than the future of the club by all accounts

https://publicaccess.eastherts.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=S9ZI48GLFP200&activeTab=summary The retrospective planning application for the big extension that was stuck on the spectator stand 4 years ago that breached building laws Any objections would be welcome. Just go to the comment section. Comments should focus on: East Herts District Council were informed 4 years ago of the breach by the Rye House Action Group Strong action should be taken against unlawful building work The applicant has destroyed a community asset(track and club) and broke planning laws. They shouldn't be helped or rewarded for such reprehensible behaviour Not a good look for EHDC if they don't enforce building laws The harder the council make it for Rye House Group the better the chances for Speedway being part of the future. If it wasn't for the RHAG the whole complex would have been a football pitch and clubhouse by now.
-
They have put in for retrospective planning on the spectator stand that they turned into a gymnastics centre. They lied in 2020 and said the size of the building hadn't changed so didn't need to apply for planning permission. They stuck a huge extension on the end as a viewing area They are currently being investigated by East Herts District Council planning enforcement for this breach and others It sums up the state of planning in this country that you can put in for retrospective planning just when the investigation for the breach is coming to an end In the overall scheme of things, it doesn't mean a great deal. The area of the track is where it matters. How long can they keep a white elephant after paying out a tidy sum for the lease?

It should have happened a couple of years ago but at least the licence has been revoked. The further Russell and Osbourne are away from any possible involvement the better. The Abbey is dead in the water. Osbourne wouldn't let the speedway back out of spite now anyway At least it gives a chance for a consortium to get together and put pressure on the council to provide a plot of land after their awful handling of the planning process at the Abbey
-
No, the lease has been held by the kart track for the whole complex since 2019.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-68169290 Article on BBC about the latest A nice picture of the kart track with a negative headline won't do any harm Usual nothing response from the LVPA and EHDC though, but at least they know the BBC are interested so pressure being put on
-
Yes, I mentioned earlier in the thread about Osbourne & the smarmy Gareth Hooper. Both trashed the sport & said it wasn't viable at the inquiry. Irony anyone? Russell didn't look particularly healthy when I saw a picture of him a few months ago either using a walking stick. You have pretty irrefutable evidence of a stitch up but the BSPL won't do a thing. Same at Peterborough where Chapman has no intention of doing anything to save the club but gets to hold onto the licence.
-
Chapman & Godfrey the pair of clowns in charge of the BSPL at that time have to take a large amount of responsibility. Comical to hear Godfrey say he'll do what he can to get Rye back! You played a huge part in the club shutting you clown. Think Rye are in a better position than Arena or Swindon. The LVPA own the land not the twats(Ricky Musk & Kevin O'Malley) who ripped the track out & broke planning laws. The LVPA will be the one who eventually will decide the future of Rye. I'm sure their not happy that a tenant has broken planning laws on their land. The lease also says speedway & greyhounds need to be included on the site I believe. They have written to the tenants demanding some answers according to the Rye House Action Group. The council have done what they can refusing planning permission & taking enforcement action. They can't force the tenant to run speedway. The BSPL should be all over the LVPA saying we have a promoter ready to go in ASAP. The infrastructure & planning permission are already in place. I have no faith in them though. It's a wait & see. I think the first half of the year will see whether there is any future for Rye.
-
Why haven't the BSPL taken the licence off Russell yet? Any serious association would have had the licence off him as soon as he joined Osbourne in making that statement about speedway not being viable at the Abbey & joining Swindon Mototorsport.
-
The Lee Valley Park Authority(own the land) have written to the leaseholders (Carter + Bailey) requesting that they address matters at the site & the lease obligations after the failed planning application. How Musk and his cowboys have got away with it for so long is a disgrace. The noose is tightening what with the council & LVPA now not happy with them. The best chance of a return is the LVPA as Musk has surely bought them into disrepute with his numerous instances of breaking planning laws at the site. The BSPA should be onto the LVPA offering up a promoter to take on the rights
-
Needs to become a lot tougher on track if he is to get anywhere near world champion. Hell of a talent but is way too soft presently
-
You wouldn't want Chapman involved in any campaign. Has no people skills and even his own son hates him. Look at the number of people he has fallen out with. The issue is he is sitting on his fat arse whilst all the passionate fans who want to save the sport are doing all the work. He'll then lump up the price if they are successful. Putrid, but sums up the sport. The powers that be should be removing licences at Peterborough(Chapman) and Swindon(Terry Russell) as they are damaging the sport and those clubs.
-
Can't a licence only be kept on ice for 3 years? BSPL need to remove it from Russell immediately. This latest update is purely to take the heat off and keep the BSPL thinking something may happen. If they have anything about them then they'll take it off Russell. They should be doing the same with Buster Chapman at Peterbrough. The licence isn't worthless at all. You can't run speedway in Swindon without it. Same as Peterborough where Chapman is reluctant to give up the licence even though he has no track
-
Not surprised he's been charged. Looks deliberate & was no accident.
