Lakeside Future In Serious Doubt
KevtheRev replied to KevH's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The music is quite key to the overall entertainment and over the years the same music is played time and time again, The Final Countdown, Right here, Right Now, Blitzkreig Bop etc. I see that once again you have gone on the attack with your comments (perhaps your better off at Kent), like a previous post where you commented that "all the moaners will be happy now". Rather inappropriate at this time in my opinion. -
Lakeside Future In Serious Doubt
KevtheRev replied to KevH's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Can't really believe that 2019 will see 2 different teams. With both team struggling with attendance figures, putting the 2 teams together at the same venue is not going to magic up new supporters enough to support both. Unless,of course it can be arranged that they take alternate weeks and then the supporters might actually get a 30 week season. That would be exciting, but beyond expectations surely? The opportunities for sponsorship, season tickets, special offers really could make it work. -
Lakeside Future In Serious Doubt

How about Rainham, alongside the marshes, near the Thames. There is a lot of old factories and the land is being used for landfill, so no chance of houses being built. -
If they are running a training school, then that is pure income and vastly different to running in the Premiership. If they are forced to pull out of the league then a fine comes into play. So what are suggesting, that rule can be broken? The license may be revoked, or again are you saying that rule can also be broken? The 'What if' you're suggesting is a completely different scenario and once again irrelevant.
-
What should happen is if you don’t like the rules agreed to then you drop out and join a lower league - I can see Rye dropping down next season but they need to survive this season. Any fines and licenses being revoked now, may prevent any continuation of the sport. German Football - WTF does that matter in this case. Jeez You're basically saying, Let's all be narrow minded and stick to the rules, even if it means a speedway club drops out. What if BT sports pull out, still stick to the rules? For once, I think the vast majority are hoping the promoters can work together. If they can do that (and I have my concerns) then this issue might actually help make changes going forward.

Rye House v Belle Vue - 20.06.18
KevtheRev replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Enjoyed the meeting last night. Belle Vue deserved the win and TBH it should have been an even bigger win but for some unfortunate falls. 100% commitment from both sides. Impressed with the ref, who after the delays with the sun and air fence was putting the 2 minute warning on about 5 seconds after the race had finished. That really should be the norm. As has been said, this defeat has coming coming all season. Be interesting to see what the management do now. Personally I would just like them to be honest and upfront with the fans. If they can't afford to make changes, then tell us. We can then just enjoy the racing. No need for false promises, that just leads to disgruntled fans. -
KOC Rye House - Swindon 23.5.18
KevtheRev replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
With so few fixtures, why would people miss out on seeing some speedway. Some good exciting riders on show tonight, so could be a great meeting, regardless of the score. Given that 4 of the Lakeside team are riding might even get a few of them attend. -
Agree that Rye rode there luck once again. A home defeat is looming large and away is not even worth a comment. Max is struggling but it's not all him. Kennett is disappointing and should be replaced. Just as the excitement grows we get a long drawn out tractor break, which kills it dead. Need to speed them up (and start on time!!)

Rye House V Leicester Lions 11/04/2018
KevtheRev replied to JamesM09's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Stood on the back straight as usual. Almost no difference to last year. It is a bit of an eye sore but doesn't affect my view. -
No worse than anywhere else - really? So viewing at Lakeside is just as good as Belle Vue, Kings Lynn, Poole, Glasgow? IMHO crowd levels are maintained by the level of entertainment served, mainly by the quality of racing but also by the respect given and shown to the supporters. There was no argument on admission just stating they are the same and that you are not paying more for Premiership.
-
I think Ex lakeside fans will still bother with Rye cos they know how bad the viewing and general stadium facilities are at Arena Essex. As for it being a weekday rather than a Saturday, it suits me better. Going to be swings and roundabouts I suspect as it suits some but not others. Costs are the same for entrance + programme at both venues, so not extra for Premiership racing. So I don't think crowds will drop. If the racing and general presentation works, then I think supporters will stay, as long as the jumps don't obscure the viewing too much!

Careful what you say about Vatcher - you'll get the website shutdown !!!! As for the comments abut Rye fans bleating on about things - once again it you Lakeside fans that keep making confrontational comments. Will I be returning - Not a chance in hell.

Interesting negative spin on a what was a positive question. The question was asked and the majority said no, which is absolutely fine. I was trying to engage with the customers who come onto the forum You could have asked the question yourself as you are still a member.
-
Is that a new forum?
-
Yep, that is what I meant. Thanks Bryce

So the most important thing about speedway is the car park!! How any Lakeside supporter can call Rye house facilities basic is crazy. Lakeside is so cold and bleak. Your miles from the track and not a seat in sight. Even though they have taken down the seats on the bends, there is still plenty of seating at Rye house. Lakeside has nothing - diddly squat. Nobody is ranting about how good it is there, just stating the plain fact that it is better. Plus also it was cheaper to watch than Lakeside was in 2016. As for loyalty I think many peoples heart as with teams no longer with us - Hackney, West Ham etc

Hi Mark, I'm more than happy to continue with the forum and enjoy the varied opinions and occasional banter. I only opened it because the old was was taken away from us rather pathetically. What I don't like is people making judgements about how I should think just because I am the admin. My opinion is no more important that any one else, so why should I have to think a particular way. I don't want the club to fail, I don't want any club to fail, but if I don't like how it's being run I am not going to part with any money, especially when I have an alternative.
-
Thank you for your high praise, but do you think I'm the only one who no longer attends having had enough of the perceived issues and not prepared to hand over my well earned cash. Yes I am admin of the forum, but as I have made clear I now attend Rye House and have no inclination to go back to Lakeside. Perhaps I should just close the forum, but that would be rather inconsiderate - like the owner of the previous forum. remind me who that was again!!!
-
Stadiums do not come cheap, but it was Cook who said he was looking for one, or a place to build one. As for supporting your club, why continue to hand over money to the man who is running it into the ground. Even since Stuart stopped his day to day involvement the place has gone downhill year after year and the decision to drop down has been a disaster. Better to not attend and hopefully he will leave and somebody else will come in to run the club. If not and it closes, well, it is going to happen anyway.
-
Daytripper, very interesting comments. 1. Agree with you. Jon was OK when he had Stuart and his Business Acumen to steer the club. Post Stuart at Lakeside he's got even worse than he was at Eastbourne. 2. Agree the sport is in a mess. However, clubs like Somerset, Glasgow, Rye House and Eastbourne seem to generating enthusiasm and are taking their clubs forward. 3. If it's a small minority of fans, then it really isn't a problem for the club. Also, standing up at a Fans Forum is not the answer. Vote with your feet and do not attend is the only true way, which is what a majority have done.

I was never a favour of Martin ever since I watched him intentionally hit and knock off Rob Ledwith after the race had finished, just because Rob had the audacity to beat him. However, if he has made Eastbourne a club again and galvanised the fans then I applaud him. That is what had rekindled me to Rye as the same kind of positivity is happening there.
