Vinnie Foord - is he too dangerous?

Just letting him get on with learning is a ticking time bomb. He needs to change is attitude and riding style before he seriously injures somebody, if not himself. It’s amazing how many Poole fans that are completely blinkered when it comes to this. It’s not a personal insult on them. Let’s hope the people around Vinnie are actually offering good advice, as opposed to just letting him carry on like he is. -

In quite a few he DIDN’T crash, what an achievement! And yeah that’s why the likes of Sam Hagon, Dan Thompson, Ashton Boughen and Leon Flint, etc. go around knocking everybody off. Shocking excuse. -

Not dangerous? Are you having a laugh? I’ve seen him race live in four meetings and he crashed multiple times in all four, including two wrecked air fences and he wiped out two riders that were unable to continue afterwards. If that’s not dangerous, I’d dread to think what is! -
It's going to be Dan Bewley at Oxford isn't it?

Foord was ahead of Killeen, Scott was ahead of Foord.... but according to Shovlar Foord wasn't responsible for either. -
Not too sure what motivates you to say something like that as it's simply not true (which races did he throttle off at Glasgow for instance), but there's not really much point in carrying this on. I've seen Boughen racing hard and passing people in close quarters, but it appears you haven't, so we'll agree to disagree. I know a fair bit about riding a bike (like yourself, no doubt), and I have very different views. I certainly don't think it's as black and white as you're making out. The mental side of riding a bike at high speed is far more complex.

And you're making all these assumptions after one meeting where you've seen this happen. He should certainly NOT be asking himself whether he wants to ride this early after a crash. You build confidence back up the more you race, and it slowly comes back. If he's still doing this 3/4 meetings into the future, then perhaps he should, but at this stage he should definitely not. You're not human if you don't hesitate in the races immediately after a big crash.

I've never raced a speedway bike, but have competed in road racing to a semi decent standard....and I would say this is mostly true in my experience. However (and it's a big however), I would say this very much each to their own. There's no one rule fits all in this sort of situation, so questioning whether he should be 'doing this' is crazy at this stage of his career. For example, my old mate Josh Brookes struggled massively with the mental side of riding a bike after a crash in 2004 (in his early 20s) and it took him a good six months to finally get over it afterwards. Went on to win the British Superbike Championship and compete in the World Superbike Championship.

There were a few mentions at the Champ playoff final that Jenkins could be Oxford Spires bound in 2025. No concrete sources, but not sure if anybody else has heard something similar?

Are they going to give the air fence's side of the story as well, so not to be biased? -

Agree with most of this assessment. A sensible and non-biased Poole account of the meeting, thank you. As for Killeen, he said on BSN the medical team had withdrawn him and he wanted to continue. Slightly worrying that he said the second bang on the head "fixed his blurred vision and cured his headache".

And that had nothing to do with Vinnie taking out Killeen and then celebrating in front of the Oxford fans as the ambulance was coming out on the track. It set the tone for the whole evening, absolutely classless, and the atmosphere would have been totally different. What did you expect the Oxford fans to do? Say: "jolly good old chap, what a great a show you're putting on." -

Having watched Vinnie Foord crash six times in his last three meetings (and take out two air fences), is he too dangerous? Should there be some sort of speedway exam (like a driving test) riders should take before being allowed to race against other riders? He’s going to cause someone serious harm.
