Workington Comets V Redcar Bears 03/08/24 3pm
Woke23 replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Effort doesn't always equal ability though. Yes he tried at redcar and I actually said to a mate that he probably tried too hard. However, he should be beating 90% of reserve rides in the champ and at redcar he got beat by Mulford and Ben trigger. He only scored 3 pts and one of those was because of mulfords bike going pop. I definitely think he's going to be important for us though. He is a lot better gater than Celina and has experience -

Well I would hope so but if he keeps it up he'll be pushing over 7 average. Next season will be a strange one. Cookie will keep his place and I would love to see tate and vuolas back but it may be difficult with cookie pushing 9 and those two on 7s. One things for sure, I definitely want tate and vuolas back as they are exciting to watch around our track. -

Very good meeting today. Shame to miss out on the bonus point. The cookie and tate duo is a big miss. Guaranteed 5-1s with those two. Overall I would say it's been a good couple of days of racing. The bonus point would've most certainly been ours with claus vissing riding instead of Ace. Special mention to Starke who didn't impress me at redcar but done very well today, especially in heat 12 when he rounded both redcar riders. Vuolas was superb today and once he gets dialled in to more UK tracks he'll be an asset for any team in the champ or prem. -

Redcar Bears v Workington Comets 2nd August 2024

I have to agree here. We were right in the middle of the redcar fans on that stand and there was a very pleasant couple in front. The majority surrounding us weren't so pleasant. -

Is he? -
States on workington latest post that Leon flint is guesting for us on Saturday.
-
So as things stand we have this lineup for tomorrow 1. Cook 2. Jenkins 3. Vuolas 4. Pijper 5. Batchelor 6. Starke 7. McGurk With Saturday being the same but Leon Flint in for Tate. The promotion make a change at reserve but then we go lose points with Pijper coming in for Vissing. If cookie does end up missing tomorrow and Saturday we might as well end the play off hopes now.

My comment can be seen as lacking enthusiasm. It is. I know he'll do a job and he'll beat a lot of reserves. I'm just in the mindset that I would like a reserve to be a young talent like Ace. I know Paul is the sensible decision though and I can see him doing well

Announcement made. Paul starke riding as our new reserve. Not a bad signing I suppose. He'll do job at reserve

I disagree. I think the crowds have been great this year -

Just been thinking about our reserves pairing. Do you see anyone signing them up in the champ next season? I can't see Sam nor celina getting snapped up by anyone purely based on their ability and scoring this season. -

Can't replace them after today -
Everyone has the right to be negative about our reserves. I'm going to bring in some positivity. Sam on his last couple of races at Edinburgh looked improved. He had confidence in the bends. Today was an improvement too. He didn't lack confidence around the bends like he has done most of the season. If he had better gating he probably would've scored more today. As for celina, she has hardly featured for us lately and she was awful today.
-
Saying that, one track grading in full meeting is ridiculous
-
We can't say much. I havent missed one home meeting yet and 9 times out 10 they struggle to keep the dust down.
-
Poor. No idea what's happened to cookies bikes to have to jump on to vissings bike
-
Best race yet. Vissing and vuolas passing to get a 4-2.
-
Agreed. Can't see our reserves doing much at all and our better riders aren't making up for that
-
Sam looked really good there. Nice to see him attacking the bends and not slowing down like we've seen of late. If he can sort that gating out he'll be fine today. Celina poor throughout
-
Pretty sure the reserves don't sit on this forum.
-
I struggle to see us gaining the bonus point. Celina and Sam will do their usual so we are relying on the other 5 to show up

Anttis brother does apparently ride but I couldn't find much evidence on the quality of him. Plus who would he vuolas' mechanic -

He may not but he got me thinking about potential Finnish riders. Couldn't think of any who would come in close to tates average.
