  1. Surely Phil Morris has the necessary skills set if he is allowed to implement the changes that he feels are necessary.
  2. Have you factored in the British discount for Harris, Kerr & Wright?
  3. Surely it is very risky to sign seven riders before the AGM when the points limit has not been agreed? Or is it a case of the deal has been done on the points limit but not announced...
  4. Travelled up from London for this And witnessed something I have not see before. Leicester sent out someone who all the Leicester fans appeared to know to update the fans queuing for tickets on the state of the track and what was happening inside the stadium. When i made in it about 15 minutes before it was called off his description of conditions appeared accurate. I am aware that the club are getting slated, but I feel they need to be congratulated for trying to be honest on what was happening.
  5. I had a conversation with one of the Promoters, Dave ??? last weekend. From what he said they don't make any of the financial decisions about the club. Everything is passed down from the Owners. I hope they new owner, whoever they be are either a hands on Owner/Promoter who is financially savvy or a Speedway Person who wants to remain in the background and appoints Promoters to run the club as they see fit.
  6. Just catching up.on yesterday's meeting. Interested to see a 17 year old rider presented with the same bottle as the rest of the team to celebrate. One can only assume they were all non alcoholic champaign then.... I am aware of other sports, football & rugby union that have got into trouble for giving alcohol to minors.
  7. The Technical Expert speaking at the moment is possibly putting the death nail into SCS. I really hope that this is not the case.
  8. Strong start by the SCS Barrister this morning.
  9. Having watched yesterday in full, he is a very easy target and the BE Barrister should make the most of this on behalf of his client.
  10. Yes - they are justifying the demand and dealing with the stupid comments made by yesterdays expert witness.
  11. That not what has been said. The main stand would be boarded up.
  12. and Belle Vue can only use the track on 34 days a year.
  13. Along with Premiership Rugby, Rugby League etc.
  14. The defence is also making both sports look amateurish because no one is able to provide spectator figures. This has come up on all three days so far. This is something that Phil Morris needs to get the Premiership Clubs to publish.
  15. So not consulted a building professional, not consulted the council about h&s. I thought yesterdays performance was poor, today's is even worse. Mr Hunter appears to be a) pulling figures out of thin air, b) cannot even be bothered to read the developers information. Why is everybody so under prepared? As a (retired) Barrister I cannot believe how under prepared the SCS people are under cross examination.
  16. If the Gentleman from Sport England has been called as an Expert Witness, then the campaign have wasted their money. Poorly prepared and clearly uncomfortable answering many direct questions. I just hope Matt Ford has time today to speak.
  17. Live speedway as a product does not work on TV, unless you are going to screen three meetings live, alternating between each venue. That way you are not having to fill dead air. Also an added benefit to those fans watching live in the stadium of not having a long drawn out meeting. The alternative is the Quest, 1 hour highlights package, where they can drop a dull race and focus on a race and some professional analysis.
  18. As a retired Barrister I have had a look through the rule book on the SCB site and cannot believe how poorly worded it is. The solution is simple rip it up. Get the BSPA brains trust together in front of a legal professional and explain to them the basic rules. They will then write a new rule book that is easy for fans to follow and does not have loopholes like this in it. It reminds me of the definition of F1 “To design a winning car that exploits the rule book, without breaking the rules”. I for one congratulate the Glasgow promotion on their savvy signing.
  19. I've caught a couple of Cubs meeting this year and Ashton has impressed me as he appears in control. The racing brain will come in time. I hope wherever he ends up he take a more medium to long term view rather than take the best financial offer. Smart move signing for Leicester in the NDL as they can make their track available for their riders during the week and not everyone has this luxury.
  20. I post this without having full sight of the rulebook, but I feel this is the more serious of the two charges.
  21. Getting back on track, I found as a retired Barrister, the most interesting part of the SCB statement was; A further charge of: * 018.2 Breach of Rules c) Any attempt to influence improperly an official in the course of their duties. was withdrawn. Draw your own conclusions...... By the sounds of this he may have been a very lucky boy to only be banned for a couple of years.
  22. I fancy some sunshine speedway after thawing out from Monday. But what do people think my chances are to make the 21:44 train back to town as I would rather not drive at night?
  23. They were the three I thought people would say. Middlo for track record, Dickson's record at Leicester for building successful teams is second only to Middlo and bothe can motivate riders and Pete Adams because of his savviness, although I do feel is can be to loyal to riders at times.
  24. Or you could secure the airfences to the fence behind them as they do at other tracks.
  25. My first time at Oxford since they came back and I picked a cracking meeting. Its also the best stadium I have been to in terms of atmosphere this season. Although I didn't notice it at the time I have watched the meeting on BSN this morning and was surprised by how much the airfence moved in the big crash. Had bikes followed riders into it their would have been major issues. Did anyone else notice this at the time?
