  1. Indeed. And as you say it's "letters" (plural). More than one BV promoter has been the recipient of the letter demanding free entry for the accompanying list of 100+ ex-riders, ex-sponsors, friends and hangers-on. Ian Corcoran has verified this, Gordon Pairman has verified this, Phil Rising (an independent journalist and self-confessed Collins fan) even said that he'd seen the letters and confirmed the sad contents. You'd have to be in serious denial not to accept the facts of the matter.
  2. You're confusing two totally separate things.... What Collins said in his book... and the truth.
  3. You might even think that someone who had had a life-threatening and life-changing illness might have some sympathy for someone else with a terminal illness...
  4. "Lie" seems an appropriate word where Collins is concerned.
  5. The current Belle Vue management have only been in place for 6 years and have no connection to past management teams! And there we have the truth. Collins' beef was with John Perrin, 35 years ago in 1988. Yet he has continued his petty vendetta against every new promotion that Belle Vue have had over the past 35 years. Everyone is at fault except him. And he will continue his vendetta against every future promotion. The Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury could buy Belle Vue tomorrow, but unless he is given Sainthood and 100+ pals can come along, they will be attacked. A great, great rider, but a sad, sad, little man.
  6. The publicity must've been harming book sales. MASSIVE FONT (The sign of an egotist who thinks he's more important that anyone else)
  7. I'm not convinced there's any truth in this rumour about all ex-referees being allowed free admission into any meeting they want, but I'd be pretty sure that an ex-referee is not allowed to bring along 100+ of his mates, most of whom have never refereed a meeting in their lives. That would put them on a par with Collins. And I'm pretty sure no ex-referee has ever scrawled a vindictive message defacing the property of a dying man who had only tried to encourage him along to meetings.
  8. That's some travelling for Spooner to home meetings!
  9. If all 8 teams were entered, all 8 would have an extra fixture, which is defeating the object. The idea is to give stand-alone teams extra fixtures which they need to fill out their season.
  10. Roynon certainly going to be totting up the mileage riding for Poole and Edinburgh!
  11. Hear hear. Look how women have become involved in football. It's what the media want.
