Redcar v Edinburgh. 11/08/2023. 7.30 pm
Jeffo replied to pvm's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not interested imo....didn't fancy it at all. Can't blame the track it was in superb condition. Bears tore into Edinburgh from heat one and never let up. Pickering the only rider who looked capable of winning. Although paco did at least try. Charles hard on pickering in heat 13 but what josh did next he should receive a big fine at least. Petulant and dangerous riding round the inside slowly and parking his bike sideways on the start finish line. For the bears Bailey was outstanding likewise wright and king. Great support from Edwards, hume and riss with luke Harrison also picking up a paid win. Never seen Edinburgh that bad or where we that good ?? -
Redcar Vs Plymouth 23rd June league
Jeffo replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Plymouth did well and almost got something out of the meeting helped by Erik riss and his bike troubles ultimately. The score did flatter the gladiators tho, the bears would have been home and dry a lot sooner but for Erik's e/f 's Having said that the gladiators battled well with Ben barker and Kyle howarth getting stuck in and James Pearson impressing. They may feel robbed tho with Danny King falling at the back in heat 13 while Plymouth where on a five one which would have leveled the scores with two heats to go. It may have been a very different ending if Richie Worrall hadn't shed a chain on the start line and Charles romp away for the win. Overall I think the bears deserved to win but the glads probably deserved at least a point out of it and got nothing ! -
Total blockbuster of a meeting where both teams traded blow after blow....it was like something out of a rocky movie at times lol Some of the racing was brutal and not for the faint of hearts. After calming down (I'm a redcar fan) I saw heat 15 as charles tried to shut the door on stevie knowing he couldn't get to lawson and as somebody said maybe looked for the off.... It worked anyway and we got lucky and the ref seen it as Worrall at fault...could have gone either way. Charles sensational for the bears with danyon hume having a rock solid meeting at number two and jake mulford riding the wheels off his bike in every race....Danny King had a absolute shocker of a meeting with two heat wins, three lasts and a tapes exclusion. Erik clearly nowhere near fit and struggling. For Poole lawson was outstanding backed up by Worrall and Ben Cook. Zack Cook and Kyle Newman battling for every point.... Still don't know how we lost that... Superb speedway meeting tho !!!

After last week's mauling I would gladly take that !! -
Poole Vs Redcar BSN SF 1st leg 17th May
Jeffo replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole 55 - 35 and that is being kind to the bears. Without riss or a decent guest this cup tie is all but over before it starts.....sorry to put a downer on it fellow bears fans !! We will not make up 20 points on Saturday not a cat in hells chance !! Charles and Danny will have to go virtually unbeaten at Poole to stand any chance. Jason quite capable of scoring seven points but doubt whether hume, Bailey and mulford will score seven between them....massive shame to get this far and hand to tie to Poole on a plate !!! Would love to be proved wrong but can't see anything other than a big home win tonight ! Utb anyway !! -
Oxford Vs Redcar (league) 3rd May
Jeffo replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Against possibly the two worse teams in the division tho....hume/Bailey have been riding better away and mulford for that matter same. He still hasn't scored a point at redcar yet !! Not getting at the lads they are all doing there best but clearly struggling badly. We can maybe carry one but not three. At present the heat leaders have to win every race and Edwards to get seven plus to stand any chance of winning anything. Stats don't lie !! -
Oxford Vs Redcar (league) 3rd May

Yearbyred bang on fella us usual..... Don't know the answer....how long do u give them ? I'm sorry but I don't think jake mulford is ready for this level let alone the upper level. Danyon Hume and Connor Bailey are both much better riders than they are currently showing. Its like watching roynon and andersen from last season. One good meeting and three bad ones ! Just my views guys....something has to change ! -

Redcar v Scunthorpe BSN fixture

Tosh heat ten fella...jake was running a comfortable second and his bike expired in a shower of sparks...shed a chain. Heat 7 Connor ran into him causing a load a damage to jakes bike !! -

Thought scunny had a few bits of bad luck last night which really helped our cause (bears). Jake Allen's bike throwing a chain when in a clear second place was one.... Our main concern is the form of our second strings and jake mulford at number seven. As yearbyred says above jake has yet to score a point at home and doesn't look capable either at the moment unless somebody falls or bike breaks down. He gated in the reserve race but looked tentative and unsure and was passed easily. Danyon Hume also is struggling badly and is currently averaging two points less than his starting average and was replaced by Jason Edwards in one of his heats. Connor Bailey is getting there I think and needs to be given more time. But danyon and jakes form is a major worry. Just aswell our heat leaders are sensational at present they need to be. Just my honest observations. It doesn't help when you go nearly a month between home fixtures....discuss -
Meeting called off today with all the riders and quite a few fans in the stadium. Hearing the riders refused to ride the track in some quarters and some where saying the ref had called it off.... Feel for Stuart Robson and all the riders and fans who had travelled over today. Very late call off for most people !!
-
Thanx for that. I thought James was a lot higher for some reason. Like you say like for like and I agree possibly a better signing overall !!
-
Any idea what connor's starting average is ? Fair bit lower than James I'm guessing ! How far under the points limit are we ? Ta
-
Either way team comes in just under the 40 limit Lol...... years ago you could probably build three or four teams from what riders hadn't signed for championship teams. The pool is much smaller these days !
-
Was thinking more of non championship clubs.

With most teams now 'filled up' and looking to see who is still available and not fixed up I have come up with this team.... Looks handy 1, troy bachelor 7.29 2, dillon ruml 5.47 3, hans andersen 7.00 4, broc Nicol 5.95 5, Adam Ellis 7.14 ? 6, Dan Thompson 5.10 ? 7, Nathan ablitt 2.00 Can anybody come up with something better ? Just for fun over Xmas. Not quite sure on Adams or Dan's average !

Very knowledgeable lot you are reading through these posts. Can't really disagree with most of your assessments of your teams chances. My team redcar will be there or thereabouts. A lot depends on how hulme settles in and James shanes. The heat leader trio will be a match for anybody but lacked back up last season. Hopefully this will be addressed this time round. A lot of people are talking up scunny and I can see why...mpt and Allen are much better riders than there current averages suggests also Plymouth have a cracking looking side and will do well. Poole and Glasgow will also be in the mix with vissing a absolute steal on a five for the tigers. Berwick and Birmingham have got there team building totally wrong imo and I predict brum will pick up the wooden spoon. Edinburgh will finish the lower half with Oxford. Oxford awesome heat leaders but I can't see where the rest of the points are coming from. Anyway good luck one and all and let's get behind our teams and have a good year. Merry Xmas x

Monster heat leaders...three of the best in the league. Danyon Hume should do well as back up to the big three. Jason Edwards will do a job at number six. James Shanes I never saw coming. Coming back from injury so may struggle a bit at first and may end up swapping with Edwards in the reserve berth. Jake mulford I saw last year at Kings Lynn in lewi's testimonial and he won the three reserve races and looked well tasty. If he rides like that for us he could be a awesome signing on a 2.00 average. Overall a interesting side packed with potential possible top four side if we steer clear of injuries....well done the bears management on putting a good side out...roll on 2023
-
James Wright has never rode for us ! Can't see Tom bacon coming back and if he did not worth a five average. Not many riders left that will fit under five...
-
Jordan rumoured to be on the move....Great round redcar but mostly poor away from home. Last season our heat leaders and Kyle carried the team with more often than not our second strings having a very hit and miss season. If we are to ever win the league title we need riders that can score home and away. Ace pijper was superb in the silver helmet meeting and on that meeting alone is worth a punt on a two average at home....but he will probably end up at Berwick with his dad. Just my thoughts peeps....
-
Depending on averages wouldn't mind all our heat leaders back and Kyle Newman is a absolute must....ace pijper and Jason Edwards at reserve...not sure what that leaves for a second string but wouldn't have andersen or Jenkins...no offence !
