Glasgow v Berwick BSN Cup 19/4/24@7-30
Cast1rn replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Would've probably lost the meeting without Claus, as everyone has mentioned not a single Glasgow Fan understands why he didn't get back in the 2024 team. Pearson looked tidy, don't forget at #2 he will never score big when paired with bomber, Steve worrall seems to be getting out the traps quick which is good to see. Starke was gating, but Christ there was no speed in his bike on the straights and he was having to ride defensive alllllllll night. I wasn't sure how Hagon would come back after his hip injury last year, but he's one hell of a classy fast rider, just a shame he lost it bend 3-4 when going round Rory. Ace started well, after the hodder crash just seemed to struggle. In all honesty think we dodged a bullet tonight, a defeat tonight would've put the BSN trophy out of sight. -

I think he's three bike failures from 2 meetings and a press and practice. Again another head scratcher? "Paul Starke is a brilliant rider when he has reliable equipment" Evidently he's still looking for reliable equipment. -

Claus' rolling average was I believe one of the highest in the championship, as in what he was scoring Vs his GS average. In our little group we were all left scratching our heads why he was missed out. Personally I hope when he comes back with Workington he punishes us with a max. -

Odds of Paul Starke getting an engine failure tonight? -

Nobody apart from the Glasgow management know why they didn't keep him, literally the exact same starting average as flint with flints discount. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was to do with the difficulty of rearranging of meetings last season with all the overseas conflicts. -

Again I have 0 from the horses mouth and it's just from checking google but these lab tests should be 4 days?? So I don't know where the 10 days turn around time is coming from. -
Mate.... This married at first sight thing, she kindly watches it when I'm at work or if I'm in the room with subtitles and volume off.

It was written at 3 o'clock in the morning and intended to open up debate. The "Silly People" would be the ones that have the current procedure in force. Why are we waiting until 1 HR before the potential dangerous rider is at the tapes to test them? Why are we using a testing procedure that can only supply us a "non negative" which could be false instead of proving 100% wether the rider is safe or not. Why are we only testing 28% of the riders at a meeting? -

Just did a wee bit of maths, to test the entire team every meeting it would cost £78.40, in the super grand scheme of things that isn't a lot. To lab test a sample costs £120 (off Googley search £60 if done on mass) So simply charge every rider £5.60 a meeting to ensure a 100% clean sport. If you get a "non negative" result the rider forks out the £120/£60 to prove their clean or not. Don't ban the rider on the night but upon return of the lab test. Teams aren't affected, fans get a proper meeting. -
Haven't posted this year and thought I'd start with a positive. With only a few weeks into the season I have purchased two Birmingham's an Oxford a Berwick and a Peter Craven memorial along with the BSN season pass that Santa got me and I have to say the quality has been outstanding. The commentary and camera work have been fantastic, Rory is an excellent addition to the BSN crew. From a few years back when you were paying "bob" 12 quid for an iPhone stream and shocking audio it has improved ten fold, long may it continue as long as my bank balance can afford it I'll be getting as many as I can. Additionally it saves me from watching the regular weekly crap of love island, celebrity jungle crap and married at first sight.

The 2nd test would return the exact same result if it was poured into another £5.60 test cup. The difference and this is only my understanding, is that it goes to the laboratory where they can determine what has triggered the non negative test and the quantity remaining. If it has been declared "I have a prescription for this and this is what I have taken" then that will be confirmed or denied from the lab results. Then it would be up to the SCB as to what to do based on the results. I am 100% for clean riders and that's why the rules are in force, I just feel they have to realise the scope of "athletes" they are dealing with. I would say let's wait and see what comes in a few days and make our forum discussion based on those results. -

I see the comparison, however the incident occurred off the track before the meeting had started. So using your football analogy the match wouldn't have started and a replacement to the starting 11 would be used. The argument can go back and forward with what's the solution, take Boxers for example, they get tested any time and if caught a replacement can be brought in so the boxing fixture isn't cancelled. The point I was trying to make earlier is the SCB are trying to run a professional anti doping scheme in an extremely amateur run sport. If you and I get sick we go to boots and get stuff to make us feel better, we go to the doctor's or dentist and are prescribed medication we take it. WADA rules say this isn't allowed. These aren't "elite athletes" they are brickys, roofers, factory workers who ride bikes with no breaks for 5 months of the year. If they wanna play big boy/person/toaster games then have random samples anytime 24/7, 365 days. -

As someone who has whizzed into many a cup for work and in fact been involved in the administration for testing when I was in college. If they are using the 10 strip test kit, it will have flagged up and indicated what it's detected. Cocaine is one of the strips, opiates is another strip, amphetamine, benzodiazipine etc etc. The rider and tester will have seen what's flagged up. So they are the only ones who will know exactly which strip has flagged up. Certain OTC or Prescription painkillers will flag up containing an opiate, decongestants can flag as amphetamines. Riders should as far as I know be supplied with a list of all band substances, which they can make their doctor aware of so they prescribe around the list. But don't forget they are operating to WADA standards in a sport that's underfunded at best and riders who are part time racers full time other jobbers, they don't have nutritionists and medical teams surrounding them. If a mistake has been made from a prescription drug then consideration should be taken. If recreational drugs have been used, then the book should be flung at the rider. But watching the Keyboard warrior brigade spouting utter clueless nonsense is hilarious. -

Silly thing is if the original post has been quoted it stays in the original quote. Somebody had a few to many in the black and gold before heading home last night? -

That's the biggest 180, I've ever seen online, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out who eachother is. I know who forum members are they know who members are, the forum members they know they then know who members are and Boom you've been identified. Always better to keep schtum on scenarios like this until it's out in black and white, which should be in a few days. Then you can blast away or if the alternative result comes up you won't look silly. -
Does he have a polish Granny or has he ever holidayed in Denmark ?
-
Of course they can, unknown Aussies can come in on a 4 but God help us if you want a pole, 7 or 8.5 is what they get to come in on now, I s**t you not. Whoever comes up with the creation of assessed averages needs to figure out how to create a spreadsheet and some excel formula, because it's not friggin hard!!!! Tarring and entire countries riders with the same average because of their nationality and not their performance is quite frankly doing my t*ts in. Apologies for the bleeps but come on people.
-
If it's correct It's a 38 point team, the league is achieving exactly what they want by diluting the championship down. The window on Poland has been all but closed. I know by responding to your nonsense it'll be classed as "biting" but the reality is that every team in this league is going to be far weaker for 2024.
-
Myself and the misses both said early June/July ish that he was scoring himself out of a ride for 2024, he's gone and done a Kemp, (2023) his high average was built riding at 6 and only dropped slightly at 2. With regards to the quote in the paper, I'm calling that a little bit of nonsense. With team building reduced to 38 your number 3 is going to be around a 6 average is Anders at heat leader level yet? Bet he's glad all those times that Richie Lawson let him pass when they were on a 5-1, 3-3 during league meetings cause its just cost him his job.

No problem

Worrall "With Poole dropping Worral I can't see them dropping Ben cook" Is what I said and what you quoted You then said "Who's saying he's been dropped.........."
-
He did? If you're on Facebook, British Speedway posted a video yesterday with Worrall saying, he was leaving?
-
With Poole dropping Worral I don't see them dropping Ben Cook, who is a fabulous rider and I'd have him in any team in a heart beat.
-
I do love it when the "I know more than you do " brigade show up. My assumption would be with the Riders that are leaving announced, that Bomber, Complin and Ace are most probably staying. The trick will be to get a strong 5 in probably around the 8 mark so it doesn't take a genius to work out that it's coming from the batch of ........ King,Worral,Kerr, cook,Lawson,Nichols, howarth or Wright. I would also assume by taking one of those at 5 to get a heat leader at 3 would be between 5.5 and 6.5, leaving two riders in the 4's - 5's to fill the second strings. Watching what other teams are doing helps you narrow everything down.

It was Capped at £100/point for 2023
