I would have Lawson in any team possible, he’s consistency is unreal, I just don’t see Poole letting him go and as is rumoured Danny King is moving on they definitely won’t be.
-
Taking Ben at 5 and I’m assuming Tom at 3 with the two 5 pointers at 2 and 4 left us with 8.9 ish for 1. So you either max it out with Chris Harris or take Danny king,Scotty Nichols or stick with Cookie.
-
100% agree, I also witnessed the fly mower escapades. There has to be a reason “if” he’s chosen to leave Berwick for Glasgow and I’m sure it’s not the love of the M74. Without the guarantees this year he’s going to have to perform and if he doesn’t then I’m positive the Ashfield terraces will voice there opinion.
-
Take a 2 pointer at 7 and you can build any team to match what was had in 2022 season?? 1.Josh Pickering 2. Paul Starke 3. Kye Thomson 4.Paco 5.Craig Cook 6.Connor Bailey 7.2 pointer 39.93 I think
-
No guarantees, so he’ll be racing for every point. heat 13 and 15 with Basso is going to be worth the entrance alone.

Exactly

I don’t get the moaning, is Harris a better #1 than what we had last year? is Nowak a more exciting prospect than Broc Nicol ? is Tom going to improve his average if he moves to 3? is Claus going to improve on his 5 point average at 4? Will Ben Kick on at 5? not a Scooby who could go in at 6 but it’s going to be a 4 pointer ??? Any Aussies we’re unaware of?? Do we now have a 2 pointer that every club in the league would’ve been wanting with and extremely experienced mechanic and advisor in his pits? all this would be done on a 2 point drop from last season. I would like to see any other team have as an exciting group of riders as this to look forward to in 2023.

This year the Team Managers going to have to be a bit more brutal with pulling riders when they’re not performing and get the reserves in instead. With the aggregate point now a thing your going to have to get every point you can at home to secure it. However with the 1-5 I believe we’re getting there shouldn’t be a concern, the concern is more if we struggle at 6 then we’re in trouble.
-
Who would do it if it wasn’t Cammi? You build a team to 40 points what more can you do from there, I feel Glasgow have the pull to get good riders, basso coming back kinda shows it, what difference would it have made in the playoffs last season if we had the greatest speedway manager in the world??? The team was on the bones of its a$$ and had lost all leadership since Ulli’s injury and was virtually we were turning over Pooles 3 heat leaders and Zach at reserve.
-
Ben cook is on his average it’s Zach cook we’re borrowing this season to see what we can do with his 4.92
-
If they announced the entire team in a oner what would we have to discuss for the rest of the month??
-
He’s the best away rider in the entire league and I would be overjoyed if he came to Glasgow but I can’t see it, why would Poole let him go??
-
Again your right with Ben, he’s going at 5 instead of 4/3 last year, but I wonder if riding in the ekstraliga may increase his overall performance we’ll have to wait and see. His home scoring was ridiculously high and at least we know it’s going to be exciting to watch. I don’t think Lee Complin will be there at 6, I genuinely can’t see who it could be on 4 points and for sure it’ll be 2 points at reserve. if we stick with the strong reserves like we have done In the last two seasons we’re going to probably end up in the same scenario as we have done up until now. Poole are going to go with Richie Lawson, Ben Cook and Steve Worrall at 1,3,5 with Zach at reserve (he won’t be there long unless his form dips around June/July ) so how do we counter that?? id say Bomber, Ben and Brennan can do it. We just have to find a 6 that can counter Zach and have a 7 that’s better than there’s ( I would be blown away if Nathan Ablitt stays).
-
He only had one run at Edinburgh and Berwick where he scored poorly, as far as I can see he’s moved up to #1 at the polish team he’s moved to so is clearly improving and I agree with you on the moving up from reserve but we have to try something and I’m guessing on a 5 the people at Glasgow thinks he’s worth the risk. I also understand the disappointment in the potential Chris Harris appointment but the reality is with Ben at 5 on an 8.5 who else could we get in at one under a 9 average?? choices are limited, bomber, Danny, Scott Nichols, Steve worral or Richie lawson. I’m guessing Poole will be keeping the better of the three Poole riders so that only leaves Danny, Scotty or Bomber and like it or not Bomber scored far more last season than the other two. with the removal of unlimited guarantees (as best as they can) I’m assuming the incentive to score points may be greater than it was in 2018 so hopefully he will replicate what he did for Berwick this year and pretty much every team he guested for.

Marcin and Vissingen on 5’s offsets the two 8+‘sers.
-
Cookie to Edinburgh seems like the most likely, Connor is a very consistent scorer at home just struggled away, I think most teams will be taking a two pointer at 7 which is why he didn’t fit in with Glasgow for 2023.
-
Your telling me that not a single rider looks to next years employment opportunities?? Would Poole have kept Zach Cook on a 7+ average if his last 10 meetings counted ?? look at all the current riders sitting on high 5’s and Low 7’s next year and let’s see where they end up.

Now that we know the format for 2023, will there be prices and passes announcements before Christmas so I can get my list to Santa sorted.
-
I agree, but I also feel leading from the front is the best kind of leader, as in on the track. Ully was outstanding at it.
-
100% makes a difference, you know that if you can stay under a 5 average or under a 8 average your far more employable the following season. once the team is through to the playoffs and let’s be honest you’ll know if you’ve secured your spot in June, you take the foot (or wrist) off the gas get your average where you like it, then “find form again” for the cups and playoffs. if they had opted for the 32 league matches with only 4 playoff spots, the team would need you to perform at your best for the entirety of the season and then only 6 KO matches and 4 playoff matches would not affect your average at the very end.
-
This is a question not a statement. is it only league matches that count towards riders averages? why I ask? from dropping the 2 home 2 away fixtures where riders would’ve had 32 meetings count to there averages and a possible 6 KO cup meetings and 4 playoff meetings that wouldn’t have counted. Now with the league format of 16 league meetings that count to averages and those that don’t would be as follows 6 KO cup meetings ,8 jubilee part II meetings and 6 playoff meetings. that would mean 16 league matches that would affect your employability for 2024 and potentially 20 matches where you can score as many points as you can but will have zero affect on you future employability.

Are we still having the pairs meeting in 2023?
-
The last two seasons where we have lost Ully to injury we’ve been left leaderless in the pits with the younger guys getting no direction and pretty much crawling over the finish line. Cookies scoring has remained very consistent in the playoffs but we’ve still fallen short. Scoring is great but when the team needed leadership it just wasn’t there. I’m assuming Glasgow are hunting for a number 1 that can help lift the boys in the pits when times get tough.
-
Last year only two changes?
-
Of course it’s worth having riders that have a high away average. Away from home you can score 1,2 , 3 and 4 at home you can score 3 or 1??? in the play offs/cup matches your going over two legs so you need to keep it tight away from home. Therefore you need riders that can score anywhere. Glasgow scored more at home than any of the teams in the playoffs, and guess what they scored the lowest away (all season) of any team that made it into the playoffs. Danyons away scoring was higher than his home scoring but sitting on a 5.83 I’m guessing there taking a gamble on a 5 pointer that they think can put more than .83 on there average.
