Just wondering if the desired effect of lowering the team building average has been achieved, because I don’t see a single number 1 from last season not riding in the championship again. That is if the goal was to increase the Gap between championship and premiership teams. Sam masters and Nick Morris are retained with over 10 point averages. All that teams seem to have done is reduce the experience in the Reserves to maintain the big hitters from last year. it’s the high four and five pointers that seem to be team less at the moment, Ruhml,Broc,Connor,Morley,Dan Thomson………. Is this a good thing? Are the two pointer reserves getting flung in at the deep end?
-
Think you’ve hit the nail On the head. especially with the reduction to 40 ,teams are going with far less experience in reserve than last year.
-
Possilpark Globetrotters love it
-
Do enlighten us, I do hope it’s as accurate as your “Nowak will never return” statement.
-
Also in his defence as a number 7 he should be riding against the oppositions 7 in every heat he’s in, but he was never in heat 8.
-
I’m very much of the opposite thinking. your 6 and 7 have to do 30% (28.57)of the rides for the team. If your team is carrying 2 x 2 pointers and they make their average that leaves 42 points required to get a win before heat 15. That works out at 2.1 points per rider per race. 4-2’s won’t cut it. last year Poole could carry one two pointer as Nathan only did 3 rides a night (10%) leaving the rest of the riders requiring to score 1.76 points per ride(4-2’s now cut it) to secure a win by the end of heat 14. if you think that your 1-5 can all average 8.4 a meeting then that’s the way to go. I’d go with a 4 pointer at 6 and take the #7’s 4th ride unless he’s scored 2 already in the meeting. (Pretty much what Poole did with Nathan all season)

Be very mindful when reading these “press releases” that some of them especially Polish ones are, Google translated with 0 checking. my personal favourite was “Marcin joined Glasgow in 2021, kicking Justin Sedgeman out the team”
-
He’s racing for Stal Rzeszow in 2023 ?? But again this probably doesn’t fit in with the “Glasgow lots of money, I hate them” narrative that some of our forum friends like to adopt.
-
Would you see any of those at Poole?? When Steve and Richie are still “available”
-
Heard from a guy, who heard from a guy so therefore I know everything……….. I’m very much in agreement with you. the reality is there’s a very very small pool of riders, so once one or two have been announced narrowing it down gets much easier.
-
There’s only 3 big hitters not announced, Lawson Worrall and Harris so I wonder where they’re going, the two cooks for sure, Rew on 5 points and then it’s 6 and 7. Which unfortunately leaves just short of 8 points. what about Jack Thomas at 6, see how he does and then cycle him and Zach as and when required. 3 pointer at 7 so I’m Guessing not Nathan Abblitt??

A change was most definitely needed.

what went wrong with your info on this one?

SGB Championship 2023 Confirmed Signings
Cast1rn replied to Nickinho's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Marcin Nowak To Glasgow -
I would’ve taken Richie instead of Bomber is what I was saying
-
Looking at what’s been announced so far I don’t see any team looking stronger than Glasgow so far??
-
I would of happily taken Richie too, if travel had been an issue he could’ve moved into my shed. I also think your completely right on the lack of 8-9 pointers and when the decision to take Ben back was made then that’s all that could’ve fit.

On the Payment front I genuinely couldn’t give a monkeys how the riders are paid. I just want to see that when they pull up and zip up the Tigers Kevlar's on a Friday night at Ashfield that they give their all to win and entertain the fans in the Stands who have spent their hard earn cash to support the sport we all love.

Cookies and bombers averages after discount are about .5 apart so your probably right that Connor could’ve been kept on at 6 with Ace at reserve, but the reality is if as is predicted what the team will be for 2023, it would’ve meant Glasgow were betting on Marcin and Claus being the only difference between winning some trophies or failing to do so like the last 2 years with a pretty similar team build. Craigs average has dropped for the last 3 seasons straight, Connors away scoring was the poorest in the whole team, he put less on his average than Broc who by the looks of things was having a very poor year. So something had to change, Glasgow had the highest home winning average of every team that made the playoffs but had the worst away scoring compared to the same teams. With the 2 point reduction in team building seems to have forced teams into a very average team building or putting the focus on 1,3,5 with a slightly weak looking reserve, what’s the right way to go???? I don’t know but I’m sure come mid September we’ll know whether Cammi has made the right choice or not.
-
100% especially this year, if you pick a less than successful team your only getting 22 paydays which isn’t a great deal to cover the entire year.
-
How many of the potential Pooles riders will be doubling up an riding abroad this year ?
-
For those teams taking a 2 pointer at reserve the pressure is going to be on your number 6 to perform and take the extra rides if needed. By the ways the team building appears to be going, Glasgow are going to be incredibly strong 1-5 and hoping that the reserves can hold there own, personally I would’ve done everything to squeeze Paul starke at 6, but taking Ben alone meant even if it was Danny,Chris,Richie,Scotty as the other heat leader the averages just wouldn’t fit in to get over a 4.5 in at 6.
-
Scoring wise his away performance was below both Steve and Richie. With the reduction in points one had to go and they have decided Danny wasn’t who they wanted.
-
If it’s Chris, Tom and Ben at 1,3,5 it’s going to be exciting.
