Glasgow made hard work of Edinburgh which I would say is a far weaker side than Poole. 1 and 5 and 3 and 4 if performing as they should are far stronger. If Marcin gets the better of Anders it's all down to our pivotal #6 which is where we may slip up. It's either going to be 12 points + or a heat 13 and 15 scrape through.

Would Never suggest your were mathematically inept. My statement was if I scored 3 in 3 rides 16 times my average based on this equation used would be 4 which mathematically speaking would be incorrect?? "You stated it depends which heats you take those rides in" I can't see how scoring 3 points in a meeting would make a difference on what heat the rider scored them in. I'm not looking to belittle or argue with anyone, what I want to know is surely using the equation that has been put out here cannot be done because it is mathematically wrong. -

100% it does. The average of something is the number of points divided by the number of attempts. If you only make 3 attempts at something and we use a multiple of 4 then of course the calculated average would be greater than what you actually score. If I rode 3 times in 16 home/away meetings and scored 3 points every single time then even the most mathematically challenged person could tell me that my average was 3. However using the wonders of equation creation 3/3 x4 (or 48/48 X4,) would give me an average score of 4. Never mind the fact that I have never ever ever scored 4 points in any of those 16 meetings. So back to the original point if a rider only rides in 3 rides then his or her average for that match would be inflated unless...... Wait for it ...... They scored 0 from 3 rides. But again this is all hypothetical as there is no way something so simple could be used to determine riders averages. -

*Edit sorry miss read you statement** Of course it is a solid strategy if your goal is to get your number 6 into the main body (#2) Your number 7's average is irrelevant. I just want someone to say "100% of course we're not using" number of points/number of rides X 4 Because if you are, the minute you take 3 rides your average will be inflated. -
I wasn't sure how it worked, cause the rule book just states Poland Denmark or sweeden, but I wasn't sure if the league or u24's mattered.
-
Kenyan would've started on 4 (not sure if he rode in the Danish league before)in the championship, but he's on that in the premier so I'm assuming if he comes down to the championship it would be 1.5 times so a 6. Tate I'm thinking is a 4 so..........

I was hoping someone would pull that equation out, because if that's what they are using, they need to employee somebody with a GCSE in Maths to show them how wrong it is. You have a number 6 you want moved into the main body of the team. You follow these simple steps. Only let them take 3 rides Heats 2 and 14 (where they'll be up against the opposition's #7) Reserve switch in heat 8 and boom you have 3 goes to score 3/4 points Vs the oppositions weakest rider. 3/3 X 4 = 4 4/3 X 4 = 5.3 You wanna know the even funnier thing put your second string through the tapes and that counts to their average too.and they'll be all set for a spot at 6 before you know it. -
Definition of average from the Oxford dictionary. "a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data, in particular the mode, median, or (most commonly) the mean, which is calculated by dividing the sum of the values in the set by their number." But in British speedway we remove up to 52.63% of the potential data to calculate our averages

Glasgow v Scunthorpe Ch 7.30pm Friday 23 June 2023

Heats 12 was Tom and Ace against Simon and Nathan, both of whom had been beaten by the aforementioned riders. Heat 13 and 15 would've been another potential heat advantage with Bomber and Basso Leaving heat 14 with RR (think Simon had a ride to spare) and Nathan Ablitt again for Connor. So leaving with a ten point deficit to overturn would be somewhat easier than a 14/16 point to get that extra aggregate point. -
Was looking at a post on the "general chat" but I only float around the championship and premier pages and feel a lot of knowledgeable people do too. So if after reading the rulebook and seeing what elegible meetings affect the riders averages and what meetings don't it seems madness to me that this season a rider could compete in up to 20 meetings that don't count and only 16 meetings that do. BSN league. 4 league matches 2 semis and 2 finals KOC 2 Quarter, 2 semis 2 finals Playoffs 4 matches and 2 for finals And the ones that count. 8 home and away league matches?? Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this is crazy.

My personal opinion is the more meetings that are included the better and the less influence can be had to manipulate riding positions and averages. -

Unfortunately the rule book on CMA's is extremely vague, something along the lines of "riders averages will be calculated based on points scored and all eligible heats." -

My understanding is that it's now based on the last 20 eligible meetings (was 10 last season) From what I've heard it's the number of points scored/number of rides X 4. Now if it is that simple it is beyond stupid because that can be manipulated in a very very simple manner. It seems to be a closely guarded secret and I would love to here the equation they actually use. -

Apologies for hijacking the team thread but coming down in July for the speedway and will be making a 300 mile round trip. Wanted to set off early and make a whole day in the Birmingham area and need something to occupy the family (got a six year old to keep happy), zoo, theme park etc until tapes up within a reasonable distance from Perry Barr if anyone can help.

My bad, I was referring to those injured before the start of the season

I think you've got it spot on. Look at James Pearson and Connor Bailey who seem to be benefitting from it too. And Kemp, who's previous trips to ashfield havent come to much. -
Tell you what that "slightly overrated" 16 year old number 7 did not bad, scoring double his average with a ride to spare.
-
Very impressed with Drew Kemp and Nathan at Ashfield tonight, after both being left with no team at the start of 2023 they've both proved why they deserved a teamspot for the season.

Having seen Ablitt at Ashfield a handful of times now, he's improved greatly than when he was Pooles sacrificial 3 heat lamb. He had Lee well beat until a mistake in bend 2 lap 4 and unlike previous visits where he was about 3/4 of a lap off the pace he was there or there abouts in every heat he was in and was unlucky to not get a rerun at the heat where he was pushed to the fence. -
Track reports are good, let's see how the team goes tonight, I was expecting one of the cooks up to test the ground for next Friday and I'm not sure RR will pay off for Scunthorpe but should be a cracking night for racing.

Oxford v Poole 21/6/23 Championship.
Cast1rn replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It's always funny after one pumping that suddenly everything needs changing. Same happened at Glasgow after the Redcar beating we took. When in the light of day you have to look at the opposition and agree that they had the better of you. Steve Worral I would take as a heat leader in any team in the country. What more are they expecting from Roynon?? Noone should be worrying until after the 28th August when no more team switches will be taking place and by that time one of Poole's riders should've had a "drop in performance in July" and find themselves tidily at 6 for the playoffs -

Masters 0 was in heat 13 when he was out of gate 1, ironically Richie won out of gate 4 in that heat.
