  1. Sounded like he enjoyed Ashfield too, heats 4 and 10 where he missed the gate and had to fight back to claim the victory, wonder if he would of done the same had it been at the Passing at a premium track that he has to ride at every Wednesday?
  2. On the "Glasgow made a mistake letting Connor go" front, his away form was at best, awful. He maybe had got a little too comfy around Ashfield and needed to move on. His average also didn't fit this year, with the bit between his teeth and being forced to learn a new home track, the addition of Poland, he's only going to improve.
  3. What an event today and for those saying speedway is on its last legs in Britain clearly are unaware of the talent coming through. It was most definitely a meeting of two halves. Those U21's riding in the main body of the team and those at NDL and reserve level. Every single one of them battled it out for their 5 heats, Dan Thompson has never been that good round Ashfield, gutted to be honest that he couldn't hold on to first place In the final after the season he's had with club uncertainty and changes. Dan Gilkes first visit and what a boy, big shout out to the Plymouth fans, never heard a group so loud. Sam Hagon was great, Nathan Friggin Ablitt !!! Out the traps like a whippet (none of the off the pace 2022 crap), Drew Kemp great hard racing, Jason Edwards the" Bilracay blaster " was on fire till gate 4 in the semis, Anders Rowe looked like he was in a different league smashing through his qualifying heats only to be caught between drew and Dan in the finals. Finally Conor Bailey, with the experience he's had at Ashfield, showed it today from 4th to first in the final showed that he was more than worthy of the title. Could watch meetings like that every week and if you've missed it get a replay on BSN.
  4. "Splashing the cash" on a 16 year old debutante?? Must be looking for at least £500 a point, £30 a mile and 40k signing on fee.
  5. I'm all for an amalgamation of the leagues my only concern would be would it still attract the GP riders? How many teams are we having in the league? What nights would they race on, 2 pointers coming from the NDL are suddenly going to be at the tapes with Emil,Artem,Tobias, jack,Max etc etc. The jump from the NDL is already colossus how much bigger a jump will it be.
  6. I dont think they'll take both next season.
  7. Didn't know that, thanks @Skidder1 who was he riding for?
  8. Not really "better teams" I would say better foresight and use of the points limit. Last year and please correct me if I'm wrong, but not a single Poole rider was riding out of the country, I also believe only 3 of the riders were doubled up in the premier. So fatigue didn't seem to be an issue later on in the season. This year you got Zach Cook on a steal of an average which allowed to build a slightly stronger reserve pairing.
  9. Based on page 22 of this week's star, the track had been modified from what had it had been during the start of this season which may have caught the Glasgow riders out. "We did some work on the track for our benefit and the starts were perfect for us." "We hadn't been happy with the starts,we hadn't been making starts ourselves. We have been playing catch up early doors in the season." "We had a good chat with Terry our track curator, and he listened to the boys. Now we have the starts how we want them." So hopefully the next team wanting to try and keep it close at Wimborne road had better take a civil engineer or geologist with them, to see what traction is available off the starting line
  10. And how much has it cost, Berwick, Edinburgh, Scunthorpe, Birmingham, Oxford, Plymouth,Redcar,Newcastle, Eastbourne and Somerset to win nothing for the last 7 years? If they pull that 100k a year from the club, how long will it last?
  11. So who would you get in to replace him? i totally agree Dickson is an outstanding manager, but would there still be a tigers team if the Facennas didn't come in?
  12. What decisions does he need to make on a race night? Again on the team building front, I think the location isn't the greatest to entice riders to sign unless the have a massive love of driving up and down the M74 every week.
  13. Now if you were to have a soft spot for one of the speedway clubs north of the border would it be on the east or west side of the M8? FYI on the west coast we don't put watered down brown sauce and salt on our chips, so clearly culinary wise we are far superior.
  14. I'll start by saying I have no idea on the rules on the drugs testing that takes place within speedway but i have read somewhere that it's the WADA (apologies if I have the abbreviation incorrect ) system that they follow. Now again as a bit of a boxing fan I understand how strict this can be and how simple cough medicines containing codine can flag up as a positive test. Now my two points I'd like to make. I worked in an industry where we could be randomly tested on a regular basis and any medication we were on or had been on as long as we had the doctors prescription for it then it was fine is it the same in speedway? My second point, I understand how certain performance enhancing drugs could cause boxers to have an unfair advantage but what exact advantage could a rider have I can't think of or is it recreational drugs that the sports governing body don't want involved with the sport in any way shape or form?
  15. Ah sh8t sorry I was still on Sports Direct coffee cups flooding tracks.
  16. Where did this nonsense come from? Team manager and promoter flew down and then drove to Plymouth for what....... A Wetherspoons 2 4 1 on the barbican?
  17. First time at Perry Barr, great venue and great fans. Problem number 1, the guy at the petrol station 2 mins down the road doesn't even know there's a speedway track less than a minute away. Would've been far closer if Morris had been riding, Alfie Bowtell did an outstanding job. Not allowing Marcins Mechanic on to fit the dirt deflector in heat 1 when they'd realised their mistake was a bit unfortunate. Some outstanding Passing and hard riding from Both teams. Hope the Brummies are back with us in 24 because we'll definitely be back.
  18. I agree on the 7 rides part, but I'm guessing " we've got Alfie at reserve now he can take One extra ride!! From our #7" Doesn't have the same Wow factor. Along with "strengthening our heat 8 position by putting hagon up against their 1 and 2 and giving alfie another go at Ace" Doesn't sound too great either. But we'll see if that all comes to fruition tonight.
  19. And I think anyone with any sense would've chosen the exact same idea. However the chicken bones didn't land correctly and so this year they've opted for this madness.
  20. So let's just say based on current performance, Poole, Oxford, Glasgow, Redcar are top 4, with Scunthorpe and Birmingham/berwick/Edinburgh pick up the 6th spot. Who ever finishes in 1st picks the other two teams to go into their playoff league, with the reaming 3 teams going in a league together. So could be Poole, Scunthorpe and Birmingham And Glasgow, Oxford and Redcar. With the winner of each group going to the final. One of those leagues is going to be an awesome battle, the other maybe not so much.
  21. With the number 1 spot being crucial in the playoffs, all riders will need to perform 100% or face the playoff league of death come September.
  22. Think it'll be a close meeting, hopefully the weather stays good.
  23. See again your miss quoting "their fans" Nobody has said for one minute that Poole weren't the stronger team, they were outstanding with the setups and deserved to win 110%. I for one can't wait to see the cook brothers RACING around Ashfield, and Bomber, Basso, Worral and The Son of God battling round in heat 13. It's going to be awesome. @lisa-colette
  24. And afterwards, just to make sure we haven't lost any.
