Bojangles replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Exactly. And even closer as the crow flies, less than 25 miles I'd imagine. -
It’s first come, first served. Only general admission tickets are now sold, so you can go anywhere.

Capacity was expanded to 3,500 in August, so should be a good crowd.

Jacob Fellows is the final signing... https://oxfordspeedway.club/2023/01/british-youngster-fellows-completes-chargers-squad/

No doubt Poole have a strong rest of the side, but the third heat leader is the only real doubt in my opinion. Every team will be weak in some area, though, due to the lower points limit, it just depends which area ends up proving to be the most costly.
-
So, most teams are starting to take shape. Who do we think is going to win, who will make the final and who will also challenge? I'll start. Oxford to win (not biased, honest), Workington runners-up, with Leicester and Mildenhall third and fourth. Berwick to finish bottom.
-
Absolutely. Think Ben Cook is probably the second weakest third heat leader in the league after James Wright.
-
Sure, a part of it is definitely envy. Who wouldn't want to win the trophies that Poole have over the last 20 years or so? But a big part of it is also the way the club and the fans conduct themselves. There are plenty of examples of successful teams in sports that weren't universally hated because they (and their fans) acted with respect. (I'm not saying every Poole fan is like this, there are some good eggs on here - you know who you are)

Good to see you're being the bigger man!

So he deserves to be insulted? Maybe just either ignore him or debate with respect.

He's also probably calling people bullies because he's been called 'a clueless idiot' and '5-year-old' in the space of a few posts. It's a forum, he's allowed to have a different opinion without having to be insulted.

Oxford sent out a tweet today saying the merchandise will be available to purchase at the stadium. Looks like it might not be available online before the season starts (if online at all).

This all stemmed from arnieg asking how Masters could not be considered a number 1? Why do you keep going on about genuine number 1s? Facts are Masters had the second highest average last year (exc bonus), and the fifth highest away average. In a league with seven teams, it seems pretty crazy anybody could say that he’s not. As for if he’s a genuine number 1, I’ll let you debate that with yourself as you’re the only one who keeps mentioning it.
-
Do you actually read the thread before you respond? Second message you've totally missed the point. Nobody said he was GP level, it was mentioned he wasn't in the GP qualifiers. Big, big difference in quality between that and the GP itself. I'm saying he's good enough to be in the qualifiers, not the GP (which he isn't). Sigh.
-
Such as... Masters has been pretty unlucky when it comes to GP qualification. Won the Oz Championship in 2018 and was in the qualifiers the year before (the last time he made an appearance). Then finished top 4 in 2019, but wasn't in them for some reason (injury?). Had a poor 2020 and therefore missed out again in 2021. Pretty sure he would make the top four in most people's list of non-GP Australians.

Of being able "to offer more than most". Literally says it in his post.

Who cares if it is underhand? It's a business, and that ruthless approach is one of the reasons that has made Poole so successful over the years (as much as I hate to admit it). It's as much Plymouth's fault as it is Poole's if they can't keep hold of a rider. If it was illegal I'm sure Plymouth would have been straight down to their lawyers.
