  1. Rider replacement for Jenkins, and Kinsley in for Killeen. No great surprise... Oxford Cheetahs: Sam Masters, Cameron Heeps, Lewis Kerr, Jordan Jenkins R/R, Scott Nicholls, Henry Atkins, Ryan Kinsley. Plymouth Gladiators: Kyle Howarth R/R, Connor Coles, Paul Starke, Ben Barker, Richie Worrall, Lee Complin, Ben Trigger.
  2. 100% agree with you. Ashton Boughen is definitely a future star. I've seen him race at Oxford twice. He blew me away last year for the Chargers on what was his competitive debut, I think, scoring 7+1 from 4 rides. Then he was superb for Leicester a couple of weeks ago - finishing ahead of Henry Atkins, Dan Thompson and Luke Killeen (including a pass), all Championship reserves. He'll surely be snapped up by a Championship club as soon as he hits 16.
  3. Not too much at stake here except pride, but should be a good meeting. Looking forward to seeing how Gilkes does, as he seems like Sandy Lane. Presume Jenkins and Killeen will be missing for Oxford. Any ideas on the replacements?
  4. Read that as Jason Garrity for a minute!!
  5. Joe Thompson guests for Jenkins at Mildenhall. Sam Woods in for Killeen.
  6. It's all a bit weird. Concussion was mentioned on the doctors note from the broken nose crash, so he's currently out for nine days (hence why he missed the Belle Vue meeting), but apparently he's gone to hospital tonight to try and get the all-clear. As it stands he's out of the Mildenhall meeting, but it could change. I think!
  7. So it looks like Luke Killeen has only chipped a bone and not broken his wrist, and will only be out for a few weeks.
  8. Not sure of his average, but guess Kinsley is the obviously replacement now. Here's a curveball, though, what about Sam Hagon? He's started the season on fire in the NDL, showed he wouldn't be totally outclassed at this level in that Swindon challenge match at Poole and has experience of the Oxford track having raced a full season with the Chargers last year.
  9. Looking like Luke Killeen will be out for a while after his crash at Belle Vue last night, which is a bit of a blow.
  10. Oxford has confirmed that Jenkins is fit to race, so that's a relief. Belle Vue Colts: Jack Smith, Luke Muff, Sam Hagon, Matt Marson, James Pearson, Jack ShimeIt, Freddy Holder. Oxford Chargers: Jordan Jenkins, Jacob Clouting, Henry Atkins, Jody Scott, Ryan Kinsley, Luke Killeen, Jacob Fellows.
  11. Guessing Jenkins must be a doubt for Oxford after his broken nose at Ipswich tonight. Would be a huge loss.
  12. It’s provocative because a lot of money was spent and lost as a result of the cancellation, and you think it’s acceptable to make a joke about it. Congratulations, give yourself a pat on the back.
  13. Fair enough. If that’s what works for them. A lot of other clubs don’t take that route though, so it should come as no surprise that opposing fans find that strange - and, as I said, I think that’s why some people (including myself, rightly or probably more likely wrongly) wondered if there was an ulterior motive. Let’s draw a line under it there.
  14. Provocative posts like that don’t help the situation.
  15. But it never needed to be a repeat! As I’ve said, the meeting could have gone ahead, so they should have given it every chance. If the weather looked rubbish just beforehand, that was the time to cancel it if the promotion were that worried about a repeat of Berwick. An early call off is only good for fans and riders if it’s definitely not going to happen. At the end of the day some Oxford fans and Glasgow fans are obviously not going to agree, that’s the nature of the beast. I’m not going to hold any grudges, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  16. Doesn’t that just prove my point? If the weather is so unpredictable, why call off a meeting in the morning? It’s just as likely to be sunny 15mins later isn’t it? Or if you want to be really pedantic. Why not call off every single Glasgow home meeting in the morning because the weather is so unpredictable?
  17. Dan looked like he struggled with the track conditions early on, but he got more comfortable as the meeting progressed. He was just well beaten by Jenkins a couple of times, which is no real surprise around Oxford. They're arguably the two best riders in the league. Was very impressed with Ryan Kinsley. He had to battle hard for his points, but to get a paid 11 from 4 rides on his debut bodes well for the future. Oxford definitely look strong with four 'heat leaders' in their team...and I'm sure Jody Scott will also get stronger.
  18. The fact is this meeting was called off early and quite a few people raised eyebrows at that. Sure some rain was about, but it really didn't look that bad from the forecast/radar readings. In hindsight, perhaps it wasn't the right call to raise the whole 'Basso and Vissing' thing, but.....I don't think you can blame a few of us for being slightly sceptical about why it was called off - especially as it turned out the rain wasn't that bad and the meeting could have taken place. What's done is done now, though.
  19. I'm not near the track, but looking at the weather radar that bank of rain should mainly clear Oxford to the north. It looks pretty clear over the track from 6pm onwards..... not that you can ever put your faith in that.
  20. Dan Thompson was pretty hot around Oxford last year, but Joe Thompson was a bit hit and miss. Guess Ryan Kinsley is the wildcard with how he performs. If he can get close to repeating Stoneman's form at this level, then Oxford should win I think. If he struggles, can see Leicester sneaking it. Either way, should be a cracking meeting if the weather stays clear.
  21. Couldn't agree more, but have a feeling this didn't happen because the Championship clubs running lower league teams said they would pull out of the bottom tier if it was 2 home and 2 away. I'm sure I read that somewhere in the past. The clubs that get to the final of the BSN Series would have to race a total of 5 home fixtures in that competition anyway, so they would only have to find an extra 3 free race nights throughout the season to accommodate a switch to 2 home and 2 away instead. Surely it would better to guarantee a fixed number of home fixtures for EVERY team, rather than having a couple racing in more than some others? A quick look at Oxford's fixture list and they have a few empty Wednesdays (31st May, 28th June, 9th August, 30th August) even with Chargers fixtures taking place.
  22. Lawson is a decent replacement for Basso, but Starke is no Vissing around Glasgow (or anywhere else for that matter). Plus Oxford would have been a bit stronger with Wright in for Kerr. Glasgow would probably have still won to be fair, but I think even the Glasgow fans should agree it would be an easier task with Basso and Vissing, and Kerr instead of Wright for Oxford.
  23. Without Basso and Vissing, that's probably what they'd have to do yesterday as well. So yeah, good job it was called off early I guess.
  24. I've previously moaned about having to pay more on the day at Oxford, but have since learned it's to encourage people to book tickets ahead of time so the promotion have an idea of the numbers for catering etc. Guess it kind of makes sense, but still not sure I agree with it. Going to stop complaining about it now, though.
