This is true, and no doubt the speedway world would be a poorer place if they hadn't. I also note that Poole won six titles during the time Oxford was closed (so they don't count). Haha

Glasgow Vs Oxford play offs 26/9/23

What’s your point? I’m literally saying I would rather it was staged on Saturday than Glasgow forfeiting the fixture! -

You can't have a guest from another team in the playoffs I believe, so very limited options to replace Nicholls. -

Appreciate that, but as an Oxford fan...Glasgow forefitting is the last thing I want to happen. -

As much as I want Oxford to get to the final (and our best chance is probably for it to be rained off), that's not how I want it to happen. The group surely can't just end like that. Rules are rules and yes extending again is ridiculous, but common sense surely has to prevail. I really hope it can be staged on Saturday, but the cut off has to extended if not. -

Leicester City have the most second tier titles in the English Football League, does that make them the most successful team ever? Typical Poole-fan logic. I think you'll find Belle Vue (13) have the most top tier titles in British speedway! And do you have any proof Poole have the biggest crowds, every time I've been they've been down on the crowds Oxford currently get.

A lot of the team building will be academic until the league structure is announced, no? Never know a season of so much uncertainty ahead - will it be one league, two league, three leagues? A good Championship side might not be that great if it's just one big league for instance.

What's the situation with Edinburgh racing in 2024? I know they got a stadium reprieve at Armadale, but is it all locked in and good to go for 2024?

Oxford vs Redcar - Champ playoffs - 24/09
Bojangles replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just to play devil's advocate. I've just read he signed a contract with Wroclaw in March this year, so has been contracted all season (I thought he'd only signed recently). It's not really his fault that Wroclaw haven't picked him until now. -

While I agree with most of what you're saying, can you really blame Connor Bailey for signing for Wroclaw at the stage of the season where he knew he would only be required to race on a Sunday? He wasn't to know that a meeting would then be rearranged for a Sunday, not one of either clubs' dedicated race nights? Should he have turned down the chance to impress in Poland on the off chance? Bigger issue for me is the fixture congestion/backlog that has caused clubs to try and cram in the playoff fixtures desperately on any day, even knowing they won't be able to field a full strength team. -

We don't have priority on Thursdays anymore. We gave that up in the deal that allowed riders contracted to Ekstraliga teams to compete in more than one other league. Polish priority on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. -

Bojangles replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Because Scunthorpe will take the bonus point. Then if you both beat Edinburgh home and away, Poole finish with 8 points and Scunthorpe finish with 9 points. Poole 2pts home draw with Scunthorpe (won race off) 1pt away draw with Scunthorpe 2pts home win over Edinburgh 2pts away win over Edinburgh 1pt for bonus over Edinburgh Scunthorpe 2pts home draw with Poole (won race off) 1pt bonus over Poole 1pt away draw with Poole 2pts home win over Edinburgh 2pts away win over Edinburgh 1pt for bonus over Edinburgh -

You'd take Poole (most likely) getting knocked out and Scunthorpe making the final? Strange logic from a Poole fan. -
Redcar vs Oxford - Champ playoffs - 22/09
Bojangles replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Given Kerr's familiarity with the Redcar track and the fact Howarth and Basso both had five rides in that meeting, yes I'd expect Kerr and Nicholls to slightly outscore 20 points from 10 rides if comes down to that - especially with Wright not being in Redcar's line-up. Howarth also failed to beat an opposition heat leader on that occasion (bar Riss retiring twice), so he surely makes Redcar weaker than having Wright in the side in my opinion. Not saying Oxford are necessarily going to win, but it should be a close run thing. -
A big meeting in the playoffs. Kyle Howarth replaces Charles Wright for Redcar and Luke Harrison guesting again - otherwise both teams are full strength. Redcar won 48-42 in the league in July, although Oxford were missing Lewis Kerr and Scott Nicholls on that occasion. Ashton Boughen also in for Ryan Kinsley since then, so you'd think it might be a close one (especially with the loss of Charles for the Bears). Redcar: 1 Danny King, 2 Danyon Hume, 3 Connor Bailey, 4 Kyle Howarth (guest), 5 Erik Riss, 6 Jason Edwards, 7 Luke Harrison (guest). Oxford: 1 Sam Masters, 2 Cameron Heeps, 3 Lewis Kerr, 4 Jordan Jenkins, 5 Scott Nicholls, 6 Henry Atkins, 7 Ashton Boughen.

Based on three things I would think... 1) They are not riding in the Grand Prix series, so have more free time. 2) The Polish Ektrasliga relaxing their rules, and allowing GP stars to ride in more than one other country. 3) Money. They earned next to nothing while they were banned from riding everywhere (bar Russia), so want to top up their bank accounts. Also Swedish speedway is struggling financially, so doubt they could earn the money they used to over there even if they were allowed to ride.

Good God. Not sure they could even come up with that in Hollywood. What a shambles.

I guess it might be a case of it’s already in such a bad state that they can safely call it off early? Or the exact opposite and it’s in a such a good state that it should be able to cope with some rain tomorrow - although I doubt it. Your guess is as good as mine, really. -
Wasn't there a rumour about Weston-super-Mare at some point last year.
