And was Scott Nicholls only prepared to guest for us as he's at Berwick tomorrow with Oxford? Hopefully Steve Worrall will be back for the restaging.

As teams averages will rise from 38 at the start of the season to one close to 42 at the end of it, most/all riders should be expected to raise their starting average by about 10% without actually improving their under lying performance. A starting average of 6.5 would need a season end average of over 7.00 (7.15) just to stand still.

It is the case. Peter Facenna asked for volunteers to run an in house stream. -

Isn't it the case that Glasgow would have considered an in house stream, as opposed to the bought in one used immediately after lockdown, if there were volunteers to run it? None came forward and the idea dropped. -
Well we certainly accepted it. Surely there must have been another Saturday or Tuesday come to that and yes I know Bomber rides in Sweden on some Tuesdays. Or should we have tried to change the Armadale date instead?
-
Might be an issue for the Tigers when they ride at Plymouth, the night after being at Armadale in early August.
-
And Oxford are racing at Plymouth the following night so wouldnt expect any of their riders to be interested in coming to Armadale then driving down to Plymouth - though bizarrely Glasgow seem to think it's a good idea!

He's got three from ten meetings this season. Hardly a lot and the lowest in the team.

I think Saturday is now Plymouth's first choice of race night. Did we turn down Tuesdays because Chris Harris rides that night in Sweden and were we careless in accepting this particular Saturday. We've had all season to change it but have done nothing. Not sure who in our club is responsible for this bloomer - for once possibly not Cami Brown - but it could scupper our play off hopes as I feel we need to win at Armadale and P,though to have a chance of making the top four.

Would he come in on a 5.00 average. Swap out Jack Smith for him perhaps. One for next year?
-
Very limited guest options with six teams riding on just about every Friday from July till the end of August. Is there any certainty that Steve will be over it by the end of his months sick line? Its beyond the transfer/signing deadline - 75% of your BSN and league fixtures. Some difficult decisions to be made with little hard facts on which to base them.

You surely don't believe that Cami makes the hire and fire decisions? They are well above his pay grade.

5.7.2024 - Scunthorpe vs Glasgow
Beirao replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Jack now has a CMA of 5.4 effective shortly. Does that take us over the limit, meaning only like for like changes can now be made. -
Really think we need a fixtures secretary role to ensure reserved dates are co-ordinated, something that hasn't happened in the past , and to tell clubs when to run restaged meetings .
-
Do they get anywhere near 600 at their NDL meetings? What sort of crowd do they get at Armadale?
-
There's no BSN nor KO Cup in my "brave new world" of 2H 2A. NDL clubs would generally be expected to run on a night other than the parents race night, leaving the Championship side free to arrange meetings on these nights. Belle Vue and Leicester have no problem doing this. Middlesbrough raced Belle Vue on Friday June 7, a night that could have been used to restage the rained off Glasgow v Redcar fixture which currently doesn't look likely until September.
-
It's quite wrong that the NDL tail is being allowed to wag the Championship dog. Things must change for next year. All Championship teams signed up for a theoretical maximum of 18 home meetings - 8 league; 4 BSN; 4 KO Cup and 2 Play offs - so 16 league meetings (2H and 2A) and two play offs would be the same commitment .
-
They are certainly being treated that way by the Championship promotions who still haven't come up with any dates for the semis of both competitions. This is developing into a repeat of the Jubilee Trophy which died from apathy. We've an enforced blank week for the SON compepetitions, then most clubs have a fairly full fixture list through August, so its a bit hard to see when/how they will be fitted in before the play offs.
-
Right now it would seem that the junior league is the only stepping stone between the training track and our Championship side. Whether thats too big a step is certainly a fair question and an NDL side would certainly be one way to bridge it. However it may be costly and may also be an obstacle to rearranging Championship fixtures.

Facennas don't seem to think so.
