  1. Maciej Jankowski's controversial elimination from the Cardiff GP semi final reminds me of the 1963 PLRC at Belle Vue When five riders tied on nine points but only two places in the final remained open to them. What was the first decision to split them - heat wins? Fastest times? Whatever it was it provoked a sit down strike and ultimately a five man run off was ordered. May be this should have been done at Cardiff.
  2. Unless he scores far better against Redcar, he'll be at reserve for our meeting at Armadale on Sept 6.
  3. Might be wrong but I've got a hazy recollection of this happening to us before back in the times that Richard Lawson was a Tiger. Anyone remember?
  4. Doesn't he get a real average a few days after completing his sixth meeting so that will be some point in early September by which time we may well still have meetings to race - at Edinburgh perhaps the way things are going ...or not going!
  5. I wondered about that. Hook and Liebmann never dropped below their assessed 4.00 figures though their "actuals" were less. However Birminghams foreigners all got real figures after the prescribed number of meetings.
  6. He has indeed. Looking back, he had to be aTarasenko type signing just to break even. We used 8.00 on him and Garrad, and with Garrad unlikely to score many points, he needed to average 7.50+ just to stay pat. Right now he's on 4,00 and after tonight could end up being a reserve in the next Green Sheets. Ironically Starke is averaging slightly more for Workington. File under " it seemed like a good idea at the time"
  7. Indeed and if he has another poor night tomorrow he'll be at reserve for next Friday
  8. Edinburgh had "Jack Anderson" who was in fact John Gibson of the Edinburgh Evening News. He used the non de plume as he didn't always go to the meetings but constructed reports from a filled in programme.
  9. And a police station. Motherwell a school and a park. Blantyre 1 an expressway and Lidls and Farmfoods in a small shopping mall. Not sure about Blantyre 2. Paisley a supermarket
  10. Seems unlikely as the BSPL stats page for the Tigers updated to include Saturdays results does not include him.
  11. See what you mean. Jack Smith may have been a different case as I dont think he had a 2023 Championship average.
  12. Don't think it works that way as guest appearances dont count in the averages. They didn't for Jack Smith.
  13. Who did your team get and what are your memories of them. Some I remember in https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/august-2024/the-swedish-invasion-of-1967
  14. The point sckocjasid was making was if the ref excluded Baek, Glasgow have 2 more points.
  15. Point of information - if Baek had been excluded in heat 5 instead of Smith , the 3-3 would have become a Glasgow 4-2 so Glasgow would have ONE extra point not two.
  16. Seniority is an unnecessay and outdated concept and the NDL tail has to stop wagging the Championship dog. NDL meetings should either be held when the Championship side is riding away or on your alternative race day - you do have one?
  17. It looks like the truly bizarre agreement to ride at Plymouth the night after Armadale is coming back to bite us big time. Whyever did we agree to this. Weren't there enough free Saturdays or even a Tuesday. Interestingly Edinburgh got a Tuesday in Devon. Really poor by our management.

  19. Nothing to do with 2025. 2024 averages will centre around 42 by the end of the season , something the 0.5 addition recognises.
  20. IF we go for 2H 2A, then Edinburgh , Scunthorpe and Redcar will all have six blank Fridays where they are away to fellow Friday nighters, enough for them to stage their NDL fixtures. QED.
  21. Clubs didn't get "decent HLs" this year when the limit was 38 so why should it work next year. Teams keep their top men, bring in 2.00 riders and the middle order get squeezed out. If you want a more equitable distribution of Heat Leaders, you need to legislate for it ie only 2 riders with an average of more than 7.50.
  22. There were surely enough blank Saturdays when the fixtures were being draw up to allow Workington to race Berwick on a Saturday. Having seniority should only apply to the meetings on the fixture list NOT restagings unless both teams agree.
  23. All four Friday clubs had reserved dates spread throughout their fixture list but none seem to have been co-ordinated and, with a preponderance of meetings against fellow Friday nighters being postponed, very few have been used resulting in the current fixture chaos. Thrown in the fact that three of the four have an NDL side and look to run them on Fridays too and you've got the perfect storm. Controversial idea but how about making Friday an NDL free race night. Would think Rob Godfrey would agree after all didn't he get Workington to move off Fridays about six years ago
